4/30 Saturday 6:30pm, A Night at the Apollo, Fundraiser for the Historic Apollo School (1924) - Tickets: $35 per person

The Apollo School Foundation will host a fundraiser with an art auction, wine, and music at the

only surviving two-room schoolhouse in Martin County at 9141 SE Apollo Street, Hobe Sound. The ticket

A gathering to celebrate Historic Preservation Month at the historic Stuart Feed Store (1901), 161 SW

Flagler Ave. in Stuart, with speakers from Martin County, the City of Stuart & the Town of Sewall’s Point. A

plaque will be given to Mabel Witham to commemorate placement of her house on the Martin County

The Captain Sewall House in Indian Riverside Park, 1707 NE Indian River Drive in Jensen Beach, will be

open to the public from 12pm-2pm. Local historian Sandra Thurlow will be on hand to tell its story. Bruce

The House of Refuge (1876) Museum, Martin County’s oldest building, will host a lecture and open house

at 301 SE MacArthur Blvd on Hutchinson Island. Master Gardner Ann McCormick will lecture from 10am-

11am. Due to size restrictions, reservations are required for the lecture. The same day, the House of

Refuge Museum will be open to the public from 10am-3:30pm with guided tours. Contact: 772-225-1875

The historic Salerno Colored School, a one-room schoolhouse built during the era of segregation, will be

open to the public at 4455 SE Murray Street in New Monrovia Park. At noon, there will be a screening of

the recently released MCTV Documentary Mrs. Williams School in which former students of esteemed

Ceremony to unveil the bronze plaque commemorating the placement of the historic Seminole Inn, built

by S. Davies Warfield in 1926 and lovingly restored by the Wall family, on the Martin County Register of

Celebrate Historic Preservation Month 2016 and the Preservationists of the Year Award

The Martin County Historic Preservation Board will honor the 2016 Preservationist of the Year, Harold

Markey, at an Awards Luncheon at the Seminole Inn, 15885 SW Warfield Blvd. in Indiantown.

Reservations and payment of the $15 cost should be made with the Inn at 772-597-3777 by May 19th.

5/30 Monday Memorial Day Parade and Dedication of a Plaque in Honor of Larry Brown - FREE

After the Memorial Day Parade, which begins at 10am on East Ocean Blvd and ends in Memorial Park, the

City of Stuart will recognize Stuart native Larry Brown, a U.S. military soldier killed in Vietnam, with the
