INTRODUCTION

1. The ENCLOSURE 02 has been required by A.SPEDO&FIGLI. S.r.l. in order to give to the Customer all the information necessary for a steady performance and a correct maintenance of the equipment/components:

This enclosure contains both operating and maintenance instructions and safetyrules concerning the above mentioned equipment/components which have not been included in the general operating and maintenance manual. As for all other instruction, see the general operating and maintenance manual of the reference machine. 2. We recommend to keep this enclosure, together with the reference manual, in good conditions

and in the proximity of the equipment for a quick reference in case of need or intervention.

THE PURCHSER, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NEW LEGISLATION, WILL HAVE TO VERIFY THAT THESE INSTRUCTIONS HAVE BEEN UNDERSTOOD BY THE

1.1 GENERAL RULES AND CONVENTIONS This ENCLOSURE 02 is an integral part of the product, therfore it MUST be preserved with care for any further reference together with the reference manual of the equipment.

� CONVENTIONS : - In this manual the words “right side”, “left side”, “foreward”, “backward”, “high”and “low” refer to the operator who is properly seated with the driving set of disks device at his right

side. - In this manual the units of measure are expressed according to the Internazional System of Units ( SI ).

1.2 DESCRIPTION

The equipment described in “ENCLOSURE 02” is provided with an independent hydraulic system and with two hydraulic pumps (-BIPUMP”: the former operates the set of discs and the latter all the other functions). A cardan joint (NOT supplied with the equipment as standard) operates the hydraulic pumps. The equipment are named Back Inter-trunk side-stepping Machine MARTE 24, MERCURIO 24 or GIOVE 24 (“bi-pump” model equipped with lever remote hydraulic valves for head, set of disks sliding out and set of disks back in and set of disks rotation. The equipment have been specifically designed to be applied behind tractors having a “three point hitch” where it is necessary to perform mechanical operation on the soil that lies among plantations inter-rows. The equipment consists of four units: (as for “a”, “b” and “c” units, see the general operating and maintenance manual of the equipment.

d) THE CONTROL UNIT is divided into two parts, the first one is formed by N. 3 lever remote hydraulic valves to be placed near the operator. They operate head, set of disks sliding out and set of disks back in. The second part of the control unit is formed by N. 1 lever remote hydraulic valve placed on the front upper side of the equipment to save space. It operates the set of disks rotation. You will find more information about the equipment working in the following pages. The remote hydraulic valves are operated manually.

THIS EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN MEANT ONLY FOR THE SPECIFIC EMPLOYMENT FOR WHICH IT HAS BEEN DESIGNED (SEE GENERAL REFERENCE MANUAL OF THE MACHINE). ANY OTHER EMPLOYMENT MUST BE CONSIDERED INAPPROPRIATE. - TURN OFF THE TRACTOR ENGINE

6.3 CONTROL UNIT INSTALLATION

The control unit (head, set of disks sliding out and set of disks back in) of MARTE 24, MERCURIO 24 or GIOVE 24 (Fig. 08a pos.1) is delivered coupled to the machine through the clevis pos.2. in order to be correctly positioned during the transport. To install the tractor take off the unit upwards and, by means of the proper clevis (pos.2), place it in the preset support (To be performed by the user) placed beside the driver’s seat.

THE OPERATOR SHALL BE ABLE TO REACH THE CONTROLS FROM THE DRIVER’S SEAT OF THE TRACTOR.

The lever remote hydraulic valve (set of disks rotation) of MARTE 24, MERCURIO 24 or GIOVE 24 ( Fig. 08b ) that is placed in the front upper side of the equipment, stay fixed in its position.

6.3.4 CONTROL UNIT FUNCTIONS

If in doubt, apply to our After-Sale Service

IMPORTANT

N.B. ONLY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL SHALL OPERATE ON THE HYDRAULIC COMPONENTS, EVEN TO PERFORM STAGES OF LITTLE IMPORTANCE.

� Turn off the engine and disconnect the pump before operating on the hydraulic system.

N.B. POSSIBLE DAMAGES CAUSED BY WRONG OPERATIONS ON THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM ARE NOT UNDER WARRANTY.

After having installed both the control unit and the equipment according to the modality described in the general reference manual of the equipment and to all the stated directions, read the following instructions (Fig.08c) and look up the hydraulic system diagram to perform the preset controls:

- To raise the “head unit” hold the lever Pos.”A”down outwards. To lower it, hold it down inwards. To stop the head unit in an intermediate position, release the lever (in its steady central position).

- To let the “set of disk go back manually” pull the lever Pos.”C”. To reset, release the lever.

- To perform the “unit sliding out” hold the lever Pos.”B” down outwards. To let it go back, hold it down inwards.

SET OF DISKS ROTATION CONTROL. Pay special attention to this control as the lever remote hydraulic valve (Fig. 08f/1), for dimension reasons, is located in the front upper side of the equipment. Follow these instructions:

1 – Disconnect the tractor PTO and let the parking brake in.

2 – To let the set of disks “rotate” clockwise, pull outwards the lever Pos.”D”. See also the hydraulic diagram.

3 – Insert the tractor PTO and let the parking brake out.

NB : Be careful! The lever Pos.”A”, after having been operated, holds its position, therefore reset it in its central position (neutral) to stop the set of disks rotation. Always disconnect the PTO when operating these controls.

DO NOT OPERATE THE SET OF DISKS ROTATION CONTROL, when the set of disks is not

working.

DO NOT OPERATE THE SET OF DISKS ROTATION CONTROL, if the set of disks has been raised from the ground.

Before performing any manoeuvre, even test ones, read carefully the general reference manual of the equipment and pay special attention to the instructions and directions of the paragraphs concerning the above mentioned control functions.

Section 8

8.3.1 CHECK OF THE OVERGEAR OIL LEVEL

Check the oil level by means of the special gauge (See Fig. 21a pos.1)

Top the oil from the upper part (pos.2) with the same kind of oil used to fill up the plant.

The kind of oil contained in the overgear is stated in the reference manual of the equipment.

Should the system require too frequent topping up, check possible leaks in the overgear.

1.2 DESCRIPTION The component described in this “ENCLOSURE 02” is a valve that regulates the oil flow of “PUMP 2” (See hydraulic schemes in the chapter “1” of "TOAL-2" general instructions and maintenance manual). It is mounted on MARTE 24, MARTE BIPOWER, MERCURIO 24, MERCURIO BIPOWER, GIOVE 24, GIOVE BIPOWER and TOAL 2. The flow regulation valves regulates the oil flow to the lever remote hydraulic valves for head, set of disks sliding out and set of disks back in. In case of irregular vibrations and oscillations noticed when the inter-trunk is working, especially during the set of disks back in movement (too high oil flow), or slow movements during the set of disks sliding out or head (poor oil flow), the oil flow to the remote hydraulic valves can be adjusted by acting on the flow regulating valve. See description in "Section 6".

ADJUSTMENT OF THE FLOW REGULATION VALVE Adjust this valve very carefully as it is located in the front upper side of the equipment. Follow these instructions:

1 – Disconnect the tractor PTO and let the parking brake in.

2 – To “reduce” the oil flow to the hydraulic remote valve, rotate the handle Pos.”E” clockwise. To “increase” it, rotate the handle Pos.”E” anticlockwise.

3 – Insert the tractor PTO and let the parking brake out.

NB : Be careful! Operate any further adjustment as stated above. Always disconnect the PTO when operating these controls.

Before performing any manoeuvre, even test ones, read carefully the general reference manual of the equipment and pay special attention to the instructions and directions of the paragraphs concerning the above mentioned control functions.

1.2 DESCRIPTION This accessory on request described in “ENCLOSURE 02” is a radiator (heat exchanger) to cool the hydraulic circuit oil. It can also be retrofitted on the following equipment: MARTE 24, MARTE BIPOWER, MERCURIO 24, MERCURIO BIPOWER, GIOVE 24 or GIOVE BIPOWER. It is steadily mounted on the equipment by means of a special bracket (supplied standard) and then connected to the hydraulic circuit and to the tractor electrical supply (Supply:12 Vcc) to be automatically operated. When the oil in the hydraulic circuit reaches a high temperature, a thermostat automatically operates the radiator cooling fan. See description/installation in “Section 6”.

Section 6 6.3.a RADIATOR INSTALLATION

The radiator is supplied on request. If it is ordered together with the equipment, it will be installed by the manufacturer, otherwise it has to be installed by the buyer following the instructions below. The buyer, in any case, has to connect the two terminals to the tractor battery (see Points 5 and 6 page17)

� Turn off the engine and disconnect the pump before operating on the hydraulic system.

Scheme :

To install the radiator, read carefully the general reference manual of the equipment and follow all the stated directions (Fig.08h), then pay attention to the following instructions and look up the scheme of the hydraulic system. Fig.08h

RADIATOR INSTALLATION Special attention shall be paid to install the radiator as it must be steadily and safely fixed and connected. Follow the instructions below:

1 – Disconnect the tractor PTO, switch it off and let the parking brake in. 2 – By means of the following table (Tab. 01) check both length and position of the hydraulic pipes

depending on the equipment model: Tab. 01

3 – Fix the standard delivered brackets (Fig. 08i, pos.1) at the right length by means of the special holes.

4 – Steadily fix the radiator to the brackets.

5a – As for the models “MARTE-MERCURIO-GIOVE 24”, operate on the pipe that has already been installed on the equipment (Fig. 08m pos.1) by disconnecting it from the remote hydraulic valve of the set of disks control and connecting it to the upper part of the radiator (Fig. 08m). Then connect the standard pipe delivered with the radiator (Fig. 08m pos.2) from the radiator lower side to the tank filter. Check the pipe tightening and pay attention to the oil in the pipes (observe the prescriptions and safety rules stated in the reference manuals).

5b – As for the models “MARTE-MERCURIO-GIOVE BIPOWER”, operate on the pipe that has already been installed on the equipment (Fig. 08n pos.1) by disconnecting it from the tank filter and connecting it to the lower part of the radiator (Fig. 08m). Then connect the standard pipe delivered with the radiator (Fig. 08n pos.2) from the radiator upper side to the tank filter. Check the pipe tightening and pay attention to the oil in the pipes (observe the prescriptions and safety rules stated in the reference manuals).

6 – Connect the terminal of the red cable (Fig. 08p, pos.1) to the battery positive terminal (12 Vcc). 7– Connect the terminal of the black cable (Fig. 08p, pos.2) to the battery negative terminal (12 Vcc). 8 – Connect the plugs of the cables coming from the battery to the radiator ones (Fig. 08p, pos.3).

9 – Insert the tractor PTO and let the parking brake out.

NB1 : Be careful! The red cable is provided with a 40A fuse. As for the models MARTE-MERCURIO-

GIOVE BIPOWER also a plug (pos.4) provided with a 20 A fuse, of the control panel, is connected to the battery connection cable. The cable (pos.5) has been fixed to the radiator.

NB2 : Be careful! Fix the cables steadily and safely. Keep them away from humidity, heat sources and

possible cause of breaking. NB3 : Be careful! Any further installation and/or adjustment shall be performed as stated above.

Always disconnect the PTO when operating these controls.

Before performing any manoeuvre, even test ones, read carefully the general reference manual of the equipment and pay special attention to the instructions and directions of the paragraphs concerning the above mentioned control functions.

Fig. 1 PRESSURE The admissible Max. static working pressure is 15 bar at a temperature of 30°C. (to avoid pressure surges). Fig. 2 CAPACITY Keep constant the oil flow so as to avoid intermittent flow rates. The indicative flow rate for each model refers to a pressure fall of 1.5 bar. Do no exceed the suggested rates. Fig. 3 INSTALLATION Install on tank return pipes. Electrical components must be kept away as much as possible from humidity and

heat sources. Plastic components must be kept away as much as possible from heat sources and

excessive cold. Use antivibration supports. Fig. 4 CONNECTIONS To obtain a better efficiency, the inlet shall have to be placed lower than the outlet

(recognizable due to the thermostat hole). Observe solenoid valve correct polarities. Fig. 5 PIPES The pipe between the heat exchanger and tank shall be as short as possible. Chose its

dimensions depending on the oil flow. Avoid bends, kinks, unions. Fig. 6 AIR Air going through the radiator pack bulkh shall be as much fresh and clean as

possible. CLEANING: To always obtain the highest performance, clean the radiator core regularly and keep
