Special active ingredients in FlexoFit:

■ MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) organic, biologically active form of sulfur. MSM is said to have an anti-infl ammatory and anti-oxidative effect.

■ Vitamin C in a stable compound form (ascorbyl phosphate). Vitamin C is a highly effective antioxidant.

■ Glucosamins = glycosamino glycans (abbrev. GAG) are long-chained amino sugars and important building blocks in the connective tissue where they represent the connecting part of the gelatinous basic substance.

Our SensitiveSalt is a pure, micro-encapsu-lated sodium chloride (NaCl) for compen-sating performance-related sodium losses in horses with a sensitive stomach. Extra gentle on the stomach and tasteless thanks to MicroBeadTM technology. Ensures the ne-cessary sodium supply of high-performance horses in all disciplines and promotes water drinking.

Basic feed contains very little NaCl, which is why a suffi cient sodium supply for horses prone to heavy sweating is so important. The encapsulated sodium crystals are fi rst released in the intestine, which prevents painful stomach irritations due to direct contact with the salt.

PowerBoost

PowerBoost - For short-term additional energy supply

Energy booster for fast and safe energy supply. Insulin response halved. No sudden drop of the blood sugar level. Boosts endurance.

PowerBoost has a glycogen-saving effect and provides extra energy for stamina and top performance! The sugar reserve in the muscles, so-called glycogen, is burnt during sports performances in order to supply the cells with energy. These glycogen stores are especially drained during endurance per-formances. The horses need a long time to replenish empty glycogen stores, which is why it is especially important with high-performance horses to retain glycogen as best as possible during competitions. After all, an additional energy boost may be decisive for victory towards to end of a performance!

If the energy boost is supplied via normal, spontaneously released saccharin (e.g. on the basis of molasses), the body reacts im-mediately by strongly increasing the insulin level in the blood and the blood sugar level drops rapidly again in the end, which is bad for the performance.

Application and dosage of PowerBoost:

n Marstall PowerBoost ensures a controlled energy supply without a subsequent drop in the blood sugar level. The blood sugar level increases slower but safely and ef-fectively - with half the insulin response!

n PowerBoost is excellently suited as an additional boost, above all for endu-rance and western horses, show jumpers, eventing, polo and dressage horses. Po-werBoost can be administered at any time during a competition (start, break, end), but is especially recommended towards the end of the performance. Please note: If administered at the start, no longer than 15 to 30 minutes beforehand! Fed right after the competition, PowerBoost sup-ports recreation.

n Also suited for all horses who refuse to eat, e.g. due to transport stress or after surgery.

Result: In comparison with the initial values, the horses in the FlexoFit group showed a lesser degree of lameness and clearly improved agility as well as tonicity. Significantly better rating from the riders concerning rideability and in-hand work. Si-gnificant improvement of ease of movement. Feeding FlexoFit over longer periods of time is associated with less lameness, improved rideability and ease of movement as well as improved flexibility and tonicity.

PowerBoost

Study: 3 x 3 double-blind crossover design, all horses included once in each test group. Comparison of PowerBoost (gradually released disaccharides) with pure saccharose (sugar). Test subject was the different glycemic and insulinemic response with Po-werBoost compared to the „reference carbohydrate“ saccharose.

Result: Less increase of the blood sugar level. Lower and time-delayed blood sugar level peak. Insulin response reduced by half. PowerBoost raises the blood sugar level with a significantly reduced insulin response. This way, the blood sugar level remains constant (no sudden blood sugar drop) and provides the sugar to the muscles and brain as a source of energy. In addition: glyco-gen retention effect and presumably better replenishment of the glycogen stores (unpublished results).

MicroBeadTM Technologie

Tasty and especially gentle on the stomach! Almost all racing horses and more than half of all sports horses in other disci-plines suffer from ulcers (var. authors, e.g. Bach et al., 2013). Direct contact with salt often aggravates these stomach irrita-tions and lesions. The result: high-performance sports horses do not absorb sufficient quantities of salt in the end. With the MicroBeadTM technology, the individual salt or electrolyte grains are wrapped in a fatty coating (micro-encapsulation). This fatty coating is not digested in the stomach but first in the subse-quent section of the small intestine. The salt is thus first relea-sed where it is actually absorbed into the bloodstream. Stomach irritations are therefore not affected or amplified further.

General information on electrolyte absorption:

The muscle cells are dehydrated right after performance. All cell metabolism processes required to recuperate and replenish the stores will first run their optimum course again when the cells have absorbed enough electrolytes and water. Scientific studies have proven that immediate and sufficient supply with elec-trolytes and water after the performance (and before feeding) accelerates replenishment of the glycogen stores (Waller, 2009). This is especially important at events spanning several days!

This was scientifically proven:

EasyGoing (Helme & Dumbell, 2009) Study: double-blind placebo, meaning neither the groom nor the trainer knows which horse receives the placebo and which one EasyGoing. The kind and severity of the horses‘ reaction to an „unknown object“ were examined before and after feeding EasyGoing/placebo for a period of seven days.

Results: Horses that were fed EasyGoing for a seven-day peri-od got used to the „unknown object“ significantly faster (than before the test feeding) compared to those horses who had received a placebo. 7-day feeding of EasyGoing has a calming effect. The behaviour of the horses improves subjectively and objectively, which may be desirable when handling and riding the horses as well as during training and competitions. 7-day feeding of EasyGoing improves concentration.

EasyGoing (Lawson, Edwards, Marlin, 2012) Study: 3 groups - no treatment, placebo and EasyGoing. Each horse is included once in each group. There is a sufficient break in between as „wash-out period“. All dressage horses were ridden in all gaits by their usual riders. The motions were filmed and presented to crossover/multiple dressage judges for perfor-mance evaluation.

Result: EasyGoing makes the movements of the dressage horses more pronounced and precise.

FlexoFit (Murray et al., 2013)

Study: triple-blind crossover placebo, meaning neither the groom nor the trainer or the evaluators knows which horse receives the placebo and which one EasyGoing. Each horse is included once in the test and once in the placebo group. There is a longer break in between as „wash-out period“. Examination parameters were the degree of lameness and the quality/ease of the horses‘ movements, agility and tonicity before and after 21 days/42 days respectively of feeding FlexoFit/the placebo.
