Remember that the MCA’s are coming soon! If your child works on
Study Island, they will be better prepared for both the math and
reading portions of the test. Any minutes they spend on the reading
portion of Study Island can be recorded on their monthly reading
calendars.
Unit Studies
In Science this week we created a “Sound” poem about sounds we
like and those we don’t. We began a new unit on the sun, earth and
moon called “System in the Sky”.
In social studies we started chapter 5—we will continue working
our through chapter 5 and finish up with our famous research
project to end the year.

Our West side Third Grade Concert is scheduled for March 26th at
the High School. Third grade will be at 6:15 PM, with 4th grade to
follow. The students are already practicing to be ready! A pink
sheet with more information was sent home today so you know how to
dress!
Reading
This week in reading we continued working with the skill
“Determining Importance”. When you read, it is important to think
about whether information in the text is important or just
interesting. We started new guided group books and looked for
important facts in the text we read.

Be Prepared
The weather is very unpredictable this time of year, so please
remember to send the appropriate clothes with your child. The
children play outside each morning and each noon, unless it’s below
zero or raining. Remember to also label all clothing in case it
gets lost.
