She stated that she thought the battery was taken prior to a prior report she filed for sev- eral other missing items made on December 2, 2012 and refer- enced former roommates as sus- pects in the theft. Ms. Devault followed up with the MPD on April 6 to report she found two empty ring boxes in the room where the accused stayed. She described the two missing rings as both made of metal and one being a McLemoresville class ring. She noted that the accused have not been to or seen in her house since December 2, 2012 to her knowledge. Unlawful Drug Parapher- nalia / Possession Sched- ule II – On April 2, the MPD received information that a runaway juvenile was located at 776 Magnolia Avenue. Lt. Rick Sawyers, Sgt. Ryan White, Plt. Adam Bailey and Sgt. Lee Weav- er traveled to the above listed address to attempt to locate the juvenile. Upon arrival the officers spoke with the property owner, Kevin Sawyers, to ex- plain the reason for their visit. Mr. Sawyers did give consent for officers to search his home for the runaway. Upon entrance, Sgt. White entered a bedroom and observed a tooter pipe with residue on it, used to smoke narcotics, in plain view on the bedside table. Mr. Sawyers was asked also for consent to search for narcotics in the residence and the rest of his property, did consent and signed a con- sent-to-search form. A search of the residence and property produced: two tooter pipes with residue, two oxycodone pills (schedule II), three dextroam- phetamine pills (schedule II), diazepam pills (schedule IV), one Marlin model 60 22LR cal. Rifle with a sawed-off stock, one Marlin mod. 336CS 30/30 cal. Rifle, one Henry 22LR cal. lever-action rifle, one CVA mod. Bobcat black powder rifle, one Fllipietta 44 cal. black pow- der pistol, approximately 1000 rounds of mixed .22LR cal., .22 mag cal., 30/30 cal., and 12 ga. Ammunition, six surveillance cameras, and one police radio scanner. The runaway was not located at the residence. Mr. Sawyers is a known convicted felon; therefore the firearms and ammunition, cameras and police scanner were confiscated along with the narcotics and paraphernalia. None of the residence occupants claimed the narcotics at the residence, at which point Kevin Sawyers, Devin Sawyers and Cody Saw- yers were taken into custody and transported to the police station for further questioning. Devin Sawyers was interviewed first and after being maran- dized he admitted that one of the pipes and the narcotics were his. Kevin Sawyers was inter- viewed second and after being read his miranda-rights admit- ted the other pipe was his. Cody Sawyers was then marandized and interviewed, and claimed to have no knowledge of the nar- cotics, paraphernalia, or any of the other items. Kevin Sawyers was cited into Carroll County General Sessions for possession of drug paraphernalia. Devin Sawyers was placed under ar- rest for possession of schedule II, possession of schedule IV, and possession of drug para- phernalia and transported to the Carroll County Jail, to be held on a total bond of $1750.00 for the three charges. Cody Sawyers was released without being charged. The ATF was contacted about the firearms for further investigation of any other charges. Theft Over $500 – On April 5, William K. Hopper, 72, of Elm Street, called the MPD to report a theft. Upon arrival by Sgt. Lee Weaver, Mr. Hopper reported someone had stolen his tiller from behind the storage shed on his residence between 12:00 p.m. of Tuesday, April 2, 2013 and 1:00 p.m. of Friday, April 5, 2013. The tiller is a red Troy-built rear tine with hiller attachment and a Briggs & Straton engine. Mr. Hopper reported the value of the tiller at approximately $1500.00. Criminal Trespass – On April 3, Ptl. Leeann Sweet re- sponded to 30 Morris St. regard- ing a trespassing complaint and upon arrival spoke with victim Dominic Teauge. Ms. Teague advised that Brianna Howard had just left her property after pulling her 911 marker out of the yard, threatened her and said she was going to the police. Ms. Teague did not know why Ms. Howard wanted to speak to the police but told her to go ahead. Brianna Howard was arrested for another incident on March 25, 2013 during which she was advised not to return to Ms. Teague’s house or she would be arrested for criminal trespassing. Ptl. Sweet then re- quested dispatch note that she was told in the CAD. Ptl. Sweet located Brianna Howard at the police department and placed her under arrest for criminal trespass. During transport the defendant admitted to being at Ms. Teague’s house and remem- bered being told not to return. Ms. Howard was transported without incident. Theft Under $500 – On April 5 Bethel University Security called the MPD requesting an officer at Heritage Hall to take a theft report. Sgt. Lee Weaver arrived and spoke with Bethel security who informed that someone had stolen a ladies’ wallet and that video footage of the crime was taken and one offender was in holding. Bethel security also had spoken with a co-offender by phone and requested he return back to campus. While waiting for the co-offender to return, the wal- let was turned in to the Bethel Bookstore. The co-offender in- formed Bethel security that the pair had taken the cash out of the wallet and thrown the wal- let out of the vehicle near Wild- cat Cove. When the wallet was returned to the bookstore, no cash was inside. Officer Weaver spoke with the victim, Kimberly Rumbaugh, who stated that she had come to Bethel to pick up her son and take him home for the weekend. Ms. Rumbaugh said that she laid her wallet up on a retainer wall outside Heritage Hall and walked her dog around the corner of the building to do its business and when she returned her wallet was gone and contained her driver’s license, an H&R Block emerald card, her bank debit card, a credit card, insurance card, nursing license, two of her children’s social security cards, and $450.00 cash. The video footage from surveillance shows offender one taking the wallet off the wall and handing it to the co-offender, who left with it. Upon the co-offender’s return, $240 cash and the wallet with all the other listed docu- ments were returned to Ms. Rumbaugh. Both offenders were cited into Carroll County Gen- eral Sessions court for theft under $500.00. Driving on Suspended Li- cense (First Offense) – On April 6, Dorothy Clark, 78, of Magnolia Avenue, was visit- ing a yard sale at 450 Forrest Avenue when she was backing out of a driveway across the street to leave, but rolled back- wards too much and backed into a pickup parked on the other side of the road. A check of the defendant’s driver’s license revealed that she had her li- cense suspended in 2008 due to a disability. The defendant was also unable to provide proof of insurance at the time. Driving on Suspended Li- cense (First Offense) – On April 6 at about 9:22 p.m., while patrolling on North Highland Drive, Sgt. Nicholas Lowe ob- served a small black car travel- ing north bound without any taillights, activated his blue- lights and stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Highland Dr. and Old Paris Road. The driv- er’s (identified as Justin Craig, 29, of Dyersburg) license status was checked through the NCIC computer and revealed him to be suspended for failure to pay child support on November 3, 2012 by the state of Tennessee. Mr. Roberson was cited into court for violation of light law and driving on suspended #1. McKenzie Police Reports Triple Theft •A Bradford man was recently arrested for allegedly stealing items from a local department store on three different occa- sions. Patrolman Ethan Parham charged Hunter C. Hames with two counts of theft over $500 and one count of theft under $500. According to Parham’s report, Hames was taken into custody April 2 by security personnel at Wal-Mart in Huntingdon while trying to take items out of the store without paying for them. Parham reported that succeeded in shoplifting items from Wal- Mart on March 1 and March 13. ••• Domestic Assault •Officers arrested a Hunting- don man March 13 after he al- legedly attacked a woman and endangered the safety of a child during a domestic incident at a Huntingdon apartment. Ryan Myles of 142 Beasley Street was charged with domes- tic assault and child endanger- ment. According to the report by Patrolman Chris Cole, he and other officers found Myles and resident Breanna Porter scream- ing at each other when they ar- rived at Cedar Country Estates on Homes Mill Road. Porter told officers Myles had choked her from behind, struck her in the face, shoved her around the apartment, and kicked her in the legs. Cole observed a swollen place on Porter’s forehead. Cole also observed scratch marks on Myles’ left hand, but Myles said those marks were caused by the front door while he was trying to get into the apartment. While interviewing the two, officers also discovered that Porter had been holding her nine-month- old daughter when Myles at- tacked her. ••• Public Intoxication •Officers arrested a Hunting- don man March 28 for allegedly being drunk and causing a dis- turbance at his residence. Robert L. Rush of 120 Bridge- man Street was charged with public intoxication. Accord- ing to the report by Patrolman Matt Sikes, he and other officers responded to a call about a dis- turbance 120 Bridgeman Street, lot 38 shortly before 7 p.m. Rush told officers that he was yelling at a dog because it was barking. Sikes reported that Rush ap- peared unsteady on this feet and his speech was slurred. When asked if he had been drinking, Rush told officers that he had consumed an entire bottle of whiskey. ••• Driving Under the Influence •A Huntingdon man was ar- rested during a March 30 traf- fic stop on East Main Street in Huntingdon. Patrolman Chris Cole charged Nicholas Williams of 55 Chick Lane with driving under the influence (DUI) and violation of the implied consent law. According to Cole’s report, he pulled over a black 1995 Toyota Camry driven by Williams for speeding at around 11:30 p.m. Cole reported that Williams had bloodshot eyes, his speech was slurred, he was unsteady on his feet, and he smelled strongly of alcohol. When asked if he had been drinking, Williams told Cole that he had drunk too much to be driving the vehicle. Williams performed poorly on field sobriety tests, but refused to provide a blood sample for analysis. A computer check of Williams’ record revealed that he had a prior conviction for DUI — so Cole transported Williams to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Huntingdon for a man- datory blood test before taking him to the Carroll County Jail. ••• Driving While Suspended •A Bruceton woman was ar- rested during an April 1 traffic stop in Huntingdon. Patrolman Josh Boyd charged Brittany Ellis of 2100 Hebron Church Road with driving while suspended (fifth offense). Boyd reported that shortly be- fore 2 a.m. he pulled over a white 1994 Plymouth driven by Ellis because he knew Ellis and knew that her driver’s license was suspended. A computer check of Ellis’ record revealed that she had four earlier con- victions for driving while sus- pended. Theft Under $500 – On April 5, Elaine Devault reported to the MPD that an installed bat-tery on her car had been taken. She stated that she thought the battery was taken prior to a prior report she filed for sev-eral other missing items made on December 2, 2012 and refer-enced former roommates as sus-pects in the theft.

Unlawful Drug Parapher-nalia / Possession Sched-ule II – On April 2, the MPD received infor mation that a runaway juvenile was located at 776 Magnolia Avenue. Lt. Rick Sawyers, Sgt. Ryan White, Plt. Adam Bailey and Sgt. Lee Weav-er traveled to the above listed address to attempt to locate the juvenile. Upon arrival the officers spoke with the property owner, Kevin Sawyers, to ex-plain the reason for their visit. Mr. Sawyers did give consent for officers to search his home for the runaway. Upon entrance, Sgt. White entered a bedroom and observed a tooter pipe with residue on it, used to smoke narcotics, in plain view on the bedside table. Mr. Sawyers was asked also for consent to search for narcotics in the residence and the rest of his property, did consent and signed a con-sent-to-search form. A search of the residence and property produced: two tooter pipes with residue, two oxycodone pills (schedule II), three dextroam-phetamine pills (schedule II), diazepam pills (schedule IV), one Marlin model 60 22LR cal. Rifle with a sawed-off stock, one Marlin mod. 336CS 30/30 cal. Rifle, one Henry 22LR cal. lever-action rifle, one CVA mod. Bobcat black powder rifle, one Fllipietta 44 cal. black pow-der pistol, approximately 1000 rounds of mixed .22LR cal., .22 mag cal., 30/30 cal., and 12 ga. Ammunition, six surveillance cameras, and one police radio scanner. The runaway was not located at the residence. Mr. Sawyers is a known convicted felon; therefore the firearms and ammunition, cameras and police scanner were confiscated along with the narcotics and parapher nalia. None of the residence occupants claimed the narcotics at the residence, at which point Kevin Sawyers, Devin Sawyers and Cody Saw-yers were taken into custody and transported to the police station for further questioning. Devin Sawyers was interviewed first and after being maran-dized he admitted that one of the pipes and the narcotics were his. Kevin Sawyers was inter-viewed second and after being read his miranda-rights admit-ted the other pipe was his. Cody Sawyers was then marandized and interviewed, and claimed to have no knowledge of the nar-cotics, paraphernalia, or any of

the other items. Kevin Sawyers was cited into Carroll County General Sessions for possession of drug paraphernalia. Devin Sawyers was placed under ar-rest for possession of schedule II, possession of schedule IV, and possession of drug para-phernalia and transported to the Carroll County Jail, to be held on a total bond of $1750.00 for the three charges.

Leeann Sweet re-sponded to 30 Morris St. regard-ing a trespassing complaint and upon arrival spoke with victim Dominic Teauge. Ptl. Sweet then re-quested dispatch note that she was told in the CAD. Ptl. Sweet located Brianna Howard at the police department and placed her under arrest for criminal trespass. During transport the defendant admitted to being at Ms. Teague’s house and remem-bered being told not to return. Ms. Howard was transported without incident.

Theft Under $500 – On April 5 Bethel University Security called the MPD requesting an officer at Heritage Hall to take a theft report. Sgt. Lee Weaver arrived and spoke with Bethel security who infor med that someone had stolen a ladies’ wallet and that video footage of the crime was taken and one offender was in holding. Bethel security also had spoken with a co-offender by phone and requested he retur n back to campus. While waiting for the co-offender to return, the wal-let was turned in to the Bethel Bookstore. The co-offender in-

formed Bethel security that the pair had taken the cash out of the wallet and thrown the wal-let out of the vehicle near Wild-cat Cove. Upon the co-offender’s return, $240 cash and the wallet with all the other listed docu-ments were retur ned to Ms. Rumbaugh. Both offenders were cited into Carroll County Gen-eral Sessions court for theft under $500.00.

Driving on Suspended Li-cense (First Offense) – On April 6, Dorothy Clark, 78, of Magnolia Avenue, was visit-ing a yard sale at 450 Forrest Avenue when she was backing out of a driveway across the street to leave, but rolled back-wards too much and backed into a pickup parked on the other side of the road. A check of the defendant’s driver’s license revealed that she had her li-cense suspended in 2008 due to a disability. The defendant was also unable to provide proof of insurance at the time.

Driving on Suspended Li-cense (First Offense) – On April 6 at about 9:22 p.m., while patrolling on North Highland Drive, Sgt. Nicholas Lowe ob-served a small black car travel-ing north bound without any taillights, activated his blue-lights and stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Highland Dr. and Old Paris Road. The driv-er’s (identified as Justin Craig, 29, of Dyersburg) license status was checked through the NCIC computer and revealed him to be suspended for failure to pay child support on November 3, 2012 by the state of Tennessee. Mr. Roberson was cited into court for violation of light law and driving on suspended #1.

• • •Domestic Assault

•Officers arrested a Hunting-don man March 13 after he al-legedly attacked a woman and endangered the safety of a child during a domestic incident at a Huntingdon apartment.

Ryan Myles of 142 Beasley Street was charged with domes-tic assault and child endanger-ment. According to the report by Patrolman Chris Cole, he and other officers found Myles and resident Breanna Porter scream-ing at each other when they ar-rived at Cedar Country Estates on Homes Mill Road. Porter told officers Myles had choked her from behind, struck her in the face, shoved her around the apartment, and kicked her in the legs. Cole observed a swollen place on Porter’s forehead. Cole

also observed scratch marks on Myles’ left hand, but Myles said those marks were caused by the front door while he was trying to get into the apartment. While interviewing the two, officers also discovered that Porter had been holding her nine-month-old daughter when Myles at-tacked her.

• • •Public Intoxication

•Officers arrested a Hunting-don man March 28 for allegedly being drunk and causing a dis-turbance at his residence.

Accord-ing to the report by Patrolman Matt Sikes, he and other officers responded to a call about a dis-turbance 120 Bridgeman Street, lot 38 shortly before 7 p.m. Rush told officers that he was yelling at a dog because it was barking. Sikes reported that Rush ap-peared unsteady on this feet and his speech was slurred. When asked if he had been drinking, Rush told officers that he had consumed an entire bottle of whiskey.

• • •Driving Under the Influence

•A Huntingdon man was ar-rested during a March 30 traf-fic stop on East Main Street in Huntingdon.

Patrolman Chris Cole charged Nicholas Williams of 55 Chick Lane with driving under the influence (DUI) and violation

of the implied consent law. A computer check of Williams’ record revealed that he had a prior conviction for DUI — so Cole transported Williams to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Huntingdon for a man-datory blood test before taking him to the Carroll County Jail.

rested during an April 1 traffic stop in Huntingdon.
