Principal’s Report

Parent Learning at MJPS

Mathematics Thank you to all the parents who attended Mr Rosenthal’s mathematics class this term. It was a great opportunity for the students to display their excellent problem solving skills. They also enjoyed challenging their parents with some really tricky questions. Thank you to Mr Rosenthal for organising the event.

Visible Learning Workshop Thank you to the parents who attended the Visible Learning workshop this week. It was great to see you there and share some of the exciting things that we have been doing in our school. We hope you found it useful and were able to develop a better understanding of our whole school approach to Visible Learning. For those parents who were unable to attend, we will provide links for some of the resources we used in the newsletter over the next few weeks. A take home booklet was handed out at the workshop and spare copies can be found in the school office if you would like one. We will continue to host parent workshops around Visible Learning in the future and it would be great to see more of our parents attending when they can. As discussed at the workshop, the research indicates that parent involvement has a significant impact on student learning. A focus for our school is to continue strengthening our links between home and school and your support is highly valued. How the Brain works.

Congratulations to Elizabeth in

Year 3 who participated in an

U/10 tennis tournament last

Sunday at Sydney Olympic Park.

She came second out of 26 girls.

Elizabeth says she knows what

she still needs to work on to

take out the tournament next

time and she has strived to dis-

play a growth mindset!!

A note for Junior Band- Spring Soiree CHANGED to 30th November, 3:30pm

Please keep practising your new songs for the Spring Soiree to be held on Wednesday November 30th at 3:30pm. I would

like to give you some new songs to work on but all junior band members must practise The Trolls and Spooks before we can

start new material.

Due to a concert clash we have managed to change the end of year Spring Soiree to Wednesday November 30th at 3:30pm in the school Hall. Both bands will play along with some smaller groups and we will farewell the year 6 band members. Please put the date in your diary.

Happy practising and see you all next Wednesday,

Woody.

. Last day of school banking is Tuesday 6th Dec

If your child has already earned 6 tokens or more and make further deposits every week until our last school banking day, they should write a note to the School banking team advising them of their choice of reward/s . The rewards still available are Out-back Pat bag tag, Wriggly Glow worm, Outer space savers money box and ET DVD.

The last day to order rewards to guarantee they will arrive before the end of term would be Tuesday 29th November, but if your child knows that they will have 10 tokens after depositing on December 6th, a pre-order could be placed on 29th November, to give students a better chance of receiving the reward before the end of term. Otherwise, if they order a reward on December 6th, then the reward would probably arrive in Term 1 next year 2017.
