We currently have a member of one of our families

undergoing chemotherapy. It is imperative tat MJPS

families report any symptoms or diagnosis of contagious

diseases that may be contracted over the next two terms.

These may include but are not exclusive to mumps,

measles and chicken pox. If the patient was exposed to

any contagious disease/infection, it would severely impact

on their treatment.

Please let the school know as soon as possible if any family

members contract any infectious diseases, so we can in-

form the family.

Thank you for your cooperation with this series matter.

Student Illness Coles have launched the

Sports for Schools

program. Every time you

spend $10 at Coles

during the program, you

will earn a Coles Sports

for Schools voucher. The more vouchers

you collect, the more sporting equipment

our school will receive.

There is a box in the school office and there

is a box at the Coles stores in Randwick,

Eastgardens, Maroubra and Bondi Junction

where you can leave your vouchers.

So please remember to ask for your

vouchers at the checkout!

To help schools keep the school zone safer for all pedestrians and drivers there are seven new traffic in-

fringements with new fines.

None of the seven offences attract demerit points when committed elsewhere on the road but in a school

zone they each come with two points.

The changes are:

1. Stopping in intersection - Under the changes if a driver commits this offence in a school zone they will

receive a penalty of $439 and 2 demerit points.

2. Stop within 20m of intersection (traffic lights) - Under the changes if a driver commits this offence in a

school zone they will receive a penalty of $439 and 2 demerit points.

3. Stop within 10m of intersection (no traffic lights) - Under the changes if a driver commits this offence in

a school zone they will receive a penalty of $439 and 2 demerit points.

4. Stop near bicycle crossing lights - Under the changes if a driver commits this offence in a school zone

they will receive a penalty of $439 and 2 demerit points.

5. Obstruct access to ramp/path/passageway - Under the changes if a driver commits this offence in a

school zone they will receive a penalty of $330 and 2 demerit points.

6. Not parallel park in the direction of travel - Under the changes if a driver commits this offence in a

school zone they will receive a $330 fine and 2 demerit points.

7. Parallel park close to dividing line - Under the changes if a driver commits this offence in a school zone

they will receive a $330 fine and 2 demerit points.

All updated school zone offences can be located through Roads and Maritime:

http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents/roads/ safety-rules/demerits-school.pdf

that are no longer needed,

which we are giving away.

Year 6 students have received an Expression of Interest form for placement in Year 7, 2019 for Govern-ment High Schools.

These forms are due back at school by Friday 16 March 2018. We ask that you complete the forms as early as possible so that we are able to contact you if there are any omissions or errors. Each form will indicate your designated local high school based on your address. Please do not change this information. If the address on your form is not correct, you will need to bring documentation as proof of your new home address to our MJPS school office.

You will have the option to apply for your local high school, apply for a non-local placement or indicate that you do not require a placement for your child in a NSW government school in 2018. A form needs to be returned for every child regardless of the option you select and whether your child is attending a Government High School or not.

If you would like some advice or help filling out the form, Miss Noble will be in 6B’s classroom before school at 8.15am to 9.00am and from 3.15pm-4pm on Thursday 8th and Thursday 15th. Please come along if needed as we are happy to assist and advise. The form can also be downloaded in other languages, please let your class teacher know if this is needed.

Many Thanks Year 6 teachers
