Founding Anniversary with

the theme of “MDSN on its

Montessori de Sto Nino

proves itself not only to be

great in academics and

sports but also with art.

Last October 14-16,

2013, Ananea Y. Dela Cruz

represented not only the

school but the whole division

of Meycauayan City, in the

Sining Pambansa Competi-

tion Regional Level Painting

Category in DepEd Regional

Office, San Fernando, Pam-

panga.

As Dela Cruz won

first place in the division

level, she was sent to com-

pete for the Regionals.

The best of the best

for each division was sent to

compete in different catego-

ries such as painting, poster

making, OPM song-writing,

shadow puppetry, cabinet

making and other art-related

fields. All these categories

displayed what each division

can do.

The event was

opened by a prayer followed

by different speakers

wherein the DepEd under-

secretary for programs and

projects, Ms. Dina S.

Ocampo, gave an inspiring

and concluding talk as the

highlight.

The theme for the

competition was "Youth as

the beacon of light", which

was given justice in

Ananea’s painting that deliv-

ers the message that as

youth, they can start little by

little to be a light and hope to

other people; they can be

good examples through our

little ways; and they, as the

rising generation, is the fu-

ture leaders of our land.

De la Cruz was not

able to win any place or

award, but being in the com-

petition itself was a great

honor. Expressing herself

through painting for other

people to see would be an

unforgettable memory and a

learning experience accord-

ing to her. It would serve as a

motivation for her to practice

more so she can be better.

Last year we all

jumped with joy as John

Robert Bautista, a former

Montessorian was declared

as Mr. BulPriSA 2012

(District). Now, Montessori-

ans are once again celebrat-

ing as Hiroshi Marutani, a

grade 8 student of Montes-

sori de Sto.Nino, remained

unbeatable as he received the

title for Mr. BulPriSA 2013

(Provincial ) last October 15

at SM Marilao Activity Cen-

ter.

As the first ever Mr.

MeyCiPriSA, Marutani was

chosen to represent not only

his school but the whole

Meycauayan City.

Montessorians were

full force in attending the

event. They all shouted and

cheered for Hiroshi when-

ever he came up to the stage.

And he didn’t disappoint his

fans because whenever he

went up front, he would

show off his flaming cha-

risma with his brilliant smiles

which made the crowd go

wild. It just showed that the

whole audience was drawn

into his charm.

What made him the

sure winner was his answer

during the question and an-

asked where would he com-

We have achieved so

much; we have won so

much; and we must be

proud!

Schools have a great

role in molding children to

be better individuals. It is

within the walls of our

school where we learn not

only academic subjects but

also morals and values that

we will always bring even

when we grow up. It is

where we learn how to be

competitive but also how to

be sport. It is where we learn

that there is something more

from us. It is where we learn

that our greatest competitor

is not someone else but our-

selves.

We can say that in

the 19th year of Montessori

de Sto Nino, we have be-

come successful. The stu-

dents had not only excelled

inside the school but also

outside its premises. For this

school year, we have accom-

plished places in Academic

Categories such as winning

in Quiz bees in the Sci-Math

Fair and MeyCiPriSA, and

even managed to reach in the

finals for the MTAP. The

talents and skills of the Mon-

tessorians were also proven

worthy of the awards they

managed to bag in the Mey-

CiPriSA Cultural Competi-

tions. The street dancers also

won as champions in the

street dancing competition.

In terms of sports, athleti-

cism was shown as the play-

ers conquered their rivals in

the Meycauayan City

Schools Division Athletics

Meet. Moreover, we have

also reached the regional

level when two of our stu-

dents competed in the chess

competition in CLRAA and

painting competition in

Sining Pambansa, both of

which they excel in. Our rep-

resentative had also bagged

the Mr. MeyCiPriSA and Mr.

BulPriSA title. And lastly,

four of the senior students

had passed the University of

the Philippines College En-

trance Exams together with

other fourth year students

who also managed to qualify

for entering the top universi-

ties of the country.

This year had been a

blessed one and a meaningful

one. There is no one else to

thank to but the students,

teachers, staff and adminis-

trators who made an im-

mense effort in bringing out

the best in each of the stu-

dents. We might guess that

this had been a lesson not

only for the students but also

the faculty.

Montessori had really

molded their students to their

greatest potential. It has

been a training ground that

tested the student's abilities.

It had built the student's

foundation to be strong

willed and eager to learn. It

dedicated itself to its students

and made them run for their

passion. It had this earnest

devotion that made us whole-

heartedly love what we want

to do and become.

It has not only been a

school but a second home - a

home where we are cared

for; a home that is proud of

us; a home where we shared

and created cherished memo-

ries; a home where we can be

better than our best.

“It dedicated itself to its

students and made them run

for their passion.”

Page 3: Maroon Pages Vol.1 No. 1 (June-March Issue)

On the other hand,

the athletic activities were

done in separated venues.

The basketball game was

done in our MDSN Gymna-

sium and the volleyball com-

petition was done at Phase

4D court. Lastly, the

patintero was held on the

streets in front of the school.

It was a very tiring yet joyful

and refreshing day for the

athletes.

The last day was a

relaxing and entertaining day

for the students. The cultural,

academic and athletic activi-

ties were already done that is

why the students were able

to catch some sleep. It was

also the most awaited day for

the students because they

will be able to witness the

beauty and wit of their

friends and schoolmates who

are candidates for the pag-

eant. The night was loud yet

elegant. The audience were

shouting and screaming for

joy as the candidates show

up on stage and the evening

turned twice as loud as the

winners were announced.

The night immediately ended

after some picture takings,

and that also ended the final

event for our 19th Founding

Anniversary.

The list of winners of

the different competitions

during the founding anniver-

sary celebration is on page

8.

MDSN Celebrates...

Montessorians had a

wonderful evening as they

concluded their 19th year

celebration, held at the

MDSN Gymnasium last

January 30.

The program, which

was hosted by our two lively

English teachers: Ms. Dia A.

Ferrer and Ms. Riza R. San-

tos, highlights the annual

search for Mr. and Ms.

MDSN which was given a

twist this year as it was

mixed with a showcase of

talents.

The night started with

the doxology and national

anthem, led by the MDSN

Glee Club. Which was fol-

lowed by the introduction of

the magnificent and stunning

candidates in a simple pro-

duction number, together

with the Sketcher’s Dancers.

Then the MDSN Fac-

ulty, the MDSN Songbirds,

namely: Cshaira Angela R.

Del Rosario, Francine R. Del

Rosario, Jonellie Rose G.

Bughao, and Carla Paola

Gotico, and the MQAPC

Chorus gave entertaining

numbers as the candidates

prepare to model their differ-

ent attires.

The candidates had

their chance to showcase

their beauty as they modelled

in different get-ups. They

appeared in their sportswear,

showing how fit and athletic

their bodies are. It was fol-

lowed by the casual wear,

exposing their own style of

choosing clothes. And lastly,

the formal wear which re-

vealed their modesty, and

excellence in carrying the

designs made by one of the

judges, Mr. Marshee

Navarro.

The next part was the

Question and Answer portion

which revealed that they

don’t only posses good

looks, but also wit and intel-

ligence.

The candidates were

judged by competent persons

in terms of beauty and glam-

our. They are: Ms. Rochill

Castillo, Mr. Christian Caño,

Mr. Marshee Navarro and

Ms. Anne Clarisse Evangel-

ista. The results of the pag-

eant are based on

looks, capability,

poise, perfection

and confidence –

as the judges call

it, "the complete

package".

And due to the

long computation of re-

sults, a lot of intermission

numbers were done. Some

of the MDSN High School

teachers, The Bonita Sis-

ters, and chosen 4th year stu-

dents gave amusing and mes-

merizing song numbers for

the people not to be bored

while waiting.

The complete list of

winners for the Mr. and Ms.

MDSN Pageant is on page 8.

Hiroshi then an-

swered confidently ―langgam

----maliit man ang aming

paaralan ngunit ang bawat

isa’y nagtutulungan dahil

ang layunin namin ay

matuto.‖ Hiroshi’s simple

illustration left the judges

with awe, causing them to

applaud with his simple yet

wise statements.

Hiroshi was over-

whelmed with all the victory

that he received and the un-

wavering support that his

school gave him. He even

said in an interview that he is

very thankful to God, his

mother and his supporters.

He also left a mes-

sage for the students who

would like to participate for

such events in the future

―Kung napili kang lumaban

sa pageant, i-take mo kasi

kahit hindi mo feel na para

dun ka, mayroon yang rea-

son. Kung sino man po ang

mananalo, goodluck sa Mey-

CiPriSA! Kaya yan. Galin-

gan mo, kasi you’ll carry our

school’s name. Thank you po

ulit!‖

Besides Hiroshi,

other representatives of the

school also bagged their own

titles in the Mr. and Ms.

MeyCiPriSA Pageant last

(date) at SM Marilao Activ-

ity Center, namely: Carlyn

Millones (High School) - 4th

runner-up, Ivie Canonce

(Elementary) - 2nd runner-up,

4 1/2 Band together with the program organizers.

With Ananea De la

Cruz’s amazing painting

skills, 4 ½ Band’s straight to

the heart, self composed

song, and Christian Joshua

Perocho and Aaron Dela

Cruz's self-made documen-

tary video, it’s no wonder

why they won the 1st, 2nd and

2nd place respectively for the

Music and Arts Competition

held at Meycauayan National

High School, Caingin, Mey-

cauayan City last September

25.

Ananea was undoubt-

edly chosen by Ms. Desiree

Ignacio for this event simply

because she knows how this

girl works; while the 4 ½

band, composed of Alex

Reyes, Ellyz Ramos (vocals),

Faith Basco (beat box), James

Castillo (bass), and Quino

Reyes (guitar), auditoned and

was chosen for their talent;

and the tandem of Perocho

and Dela Cruz volunteered

themselves as well.

Despite the delay that

happened due to the south-

west monsoon which caused

flooding in some areas, the

contenders didn’t falter.

When the competition was

resumed, they all went to the

event, bringing the same ex-

citement, confidence, and

skills.

4 ½ band gave the

judges a spectacular perform-

ance. They performed their

piece with all their heart and

there is no doubt that the au-

dience felt it. Perocho and

Dela Cruz captivated the

judges with their documen-

tary which was made for

three days in MNHS Caingin.

Lastly, Ananea’s work of art

is simple yet pleasant enough

to satisfy their eyes – she did

live through the quote that

―Simplicity is beauty.‖

With each year level

performing their own piece

with uniqueness and origi-

nality for the Sabayang Pag-

bigkas competition, Montes-

sorians showed once again

how capable and creative

they are.

Last September 7,

2013 MDSN celebrated Bu-

wan ng Wika with the theme

―Wika Natin ang Daang

Matuwid‖, organized by Sir

Jun Jun Toca, the overall

chairman of the event.

The event was a festi-

val of talents as the students

showed how great they are in

music and dancing as the

High School MDSN Dance

Troupe and MDSN Faculty

Band, composed of selected

3rd year and 4th year stu-

dents, presented all with spe-

cial numbers. The students

also demonstrated not only

their talents but also their

skills in different areas as

they joined different compe-

titions for the celebration.

After the awarding cere-

mony, the climax of the pro-

gram took place, the

―Sabayang Pagbigkas‖ com-

petition. Each year level de-

livered a piece titled

―Kalikasan Ay Yaman‖.

Everyone performed with

immense energy and out-

standing choreography. The

contest was judged by Ms.

Daisy Ignacio, MAPEH

teacher, Sir Marcos Trinidad,

Biology teacher, and Ms.

Riza Santos, English teacher.

And to cheer up eve-

ryone while waiting for the

results, Sir Jun, accompanied

by the MDSN band, sang

“Magkabilang Mundo” by

Jireh Lim. Ms. Jamie and

Ms. Dia sang ‖Chinito” by

Yeng Constantino, with Sir

Irivin on guitar, Sir Robby

on bass, and Ms. Sheryn on

beat box. Sir Jun, the over-all

chairman for the Buwan ng

Wika celebration gave his

closing remarks afterwards.

Then the closing prayer was

lead by Akihiro R. Marutani,

followed by the singing of

the Montessori hymn.

Teachers from the H.S. Dept. (L-R) Standing: Sir Mark, Ms. Cecille, Ms. Mylene, Sir Jun, Ms. Julie, Ms. Jamie, Ms.

Johna, Ms. Sheryn, Sir Gau, Ms. Daisy. Sitting: Sir Irvin, Sir Robby

Student-Teacher Ka-

lokalikes gave Montessorians

a joyful and enjoyable time

during the Teachers’ Day

Celebration, last October 4,

2013

The celebration was

arranged and prepared by the

Student Government Officers

to celebrate the world

teacher’s day and give thanks

to their beloved teachers.

There were separate

programs for Elementary and

High school. The teachers

were introduced one by one

by the hosts to give them

praise and honor.

The highlight of the

program was the Kalokalike

portion where students tried

to portray who the teachers

are inside the classrooms.

Two students are assigned for

each teacher. They copied the

teacher’s common words and

mannerisms that gave the

Montessorians smiles and

giggles.

Students also pre-

pared performances for the

teachers to enjoy. Sofia Vi-

anca Francisco from Grade 4-

Daniel offered an inspiring

number for the teachers with

a song titled ―Pagdating ng

Panahon.‖ The MDSN Dance

Troupe, whom represented

our school in the Sketchers

Street Dance Battle 9 at SM

Fairview, also performed

their number for the teachers.

After being enter-

tained with special numbers

given, the time has come for

recognition. The teachers

were given certificates as

their award and as a small

gift of appreciation towards

them. In the High school de-

partment, the Kalokalikes

chosen by each of the teach-

ers were also recognized.

The mini-program

immediately ended to give

students time with their ad-

visers. Each section prepared

gifts and surprises for their

advisers as a token of grati-

tude. This just showed how

students love their teachers

and consider them as their

heroes and examples.

The talents of the stu-

dents were shown all

throughout the English Week

Program as the students who

participated in the past com-

petitions held outside the

school exhibited what they

did during the contests.

With the theme Har-

nessing Effective Communi-

cation towards Nation Build-

ing, the English week cele-

bration was held last Novem-

ber 29, Friday at the MDSN

Gymnasium.

It was hosted by Ms.

Jamie Zuñiga, high school English teacher, and Mina Pauline Perocho, from grade

8 Exodus. The program

started with a doxology sang

by Jonellie Rose Bughao of

IV-Psalms followed by the

National anthem conducted

by Jesselim Lim, also a stu-

dent from IV-Psalms. After

that, our school principal,

Mrs. Adelfa F. Fabic, gave

an opening remark that tack-

led about what we can do in

order for us to be effective

communicators. It was, in-

deed a very inspirational

message.

The students who per-

formed are from the III-

Corinthians who were Quino

Reyes, Faith Basco, Alex

Reyes, James Castillo and

Ellyz Ramos, who competed

in OPM song writing and

successfully won 2nd place

Once upon a time, for the

first time in forever, we,

the juniors and seniors of

Montessori de Sto.Nino

batch 2013-2014, danced

through the night, for our

JS Promenade, with the

theme, “For the First time

in Forever”.

Ever heard of the

story Cinderella? Know the

part where the fairy god

mother made Cinderella look

like a real princess? If you

do, then that’s the best way

to describe what happened

that night to everyone. Eve-

ryone looked like a princess,

from ball gowns to crowns

and tiaras, everything was

there, and of course a prin-

cess wouldn’t be complete

without her prince – who

said fairytales are just for

girls? Every prince looked

really charming with their

suits and costumes as they

escorted the princesses on

their royal entourage. All are

lined up for their entrance

and made their way through

the red carpet as people wit-

nessed how beautiful and

charming the juniors and

seniors really are. Each

prince knelt and gave their

princess a yellow flower and

tied it to her wrist – a very

sweet addition to that night

indeed.

After everyone was

in their seats, as every people

should do before an event,

we thanked our Lord God for

letting us have this time of

our lives that not everyone

would be lucky enough to

experience. The prayer was

led by Angela Ellyz Ramos

f rom the 3 r d Yea r -

Corinthians. We shouldn’t

also forget to salute our won-

derful country in every event

we attend to, that is why

Joana May Bonita from 4th

year-Psalms led the singing

of the national Anthem.

The night has offi-

cially started after the over-

all chairwoman, Micca

Canonce, said her welcoming

address and gave thanks to

everyone who made the night

possible.

Our JS Prom would-

n’t be complete without

dancing, specifically the Co-

tillion de Honor, where we

danced in our ball gowns to-

gether with our partners. We

spin, twirled and danced like

how you’d imagine real prin-

cesses would do. Dancing

with the song ―So Close‖,

everything was like a dream;

a very fun and magical

dream.

We mustn’t forget

that this is the last and final

Prom of our lives, being the

seniors who’ll graduate in a

month. So we transferred the

responsibility, knowledge

and learning that our past

seniors gave us. Carla Cani-

zares, 4th year-Psalms, trans-

ferred her key of learning to

Pauline dela Concepcion, 3rd

year-Corinthians. Then,

Joana May Bonita, 4th year-

Psalms, transferred her book

of knowledge to Aletha Jenn

D a l i u a g , 3 r d y e a r -

Corinthians. Lastly, Ananea

de la Cruz, 4th year-Psalms

transferred her torch of re-

sponsibility to Lady Charm

Bal isnomo, 3 r d year-

Corinthians.

A night wouldn’t be

complete with just dancing;

singing was also very much

needed. That is why the

MSDN songbirds, Joana

May Bonita and Jonellie

Rose Bughao, sang for the

first time in forever, which

reminded us that this day

was magical and forever to

be seen as special. But the

teachers wouldn’t let the stu-

dents be the only ones hav-

ing all the fun. Therefore,

Ms. Ynah and Sir Mickey

too had sang For A Thou-

sand Years.

After that, the juniors

presented their piece. They

prepared their own intermis-

sion number which was a

remix of good old songs to-

gether with their ever grace-

ful movements. Of course

the Seniors won’t let them-

selves be left out. We, too,

had practiced and performed

our own intermission num-

ber. We danced different

styles of dances like Cha-cha

and more. The seniors

danced like you’ve never

seen them before – full of

energy and grace. The third

year band also gave an inter-

mission, but this time, it was

in the form of singing.

It has been a tradition

to have the last will and tes-

tament, where we, the sen-

iors, would pass our talents

unto the juniors by lighting

our candle and using it to

light their candles. After that,

the Sessionistas (namely, sir

Robby, Sir Jun, Sir Gau, Sir

Mark, Ms Dia, Ms. Sheryn

and Ms. Jamie), sang with

their very beautiful voices.

A message from the

juniors to the seniors was

spoken and so does the mes-

sage of the seniors to the jun-

iors. Pauline dela Concep-

cion and Mark Milaor ex-

changed messages which

were very heartfelt, they

practically summarized what

every junior and every senior

felt and wanted to say. The

juniors said that going away

doesn’t always mean saying

good bye, and for some rea-

son, that line struck me and

maybe it struck most of us.

After that, we ate and

when all of us were stuffed,

the awarding ceremony be-

gan. Although all of us ex-

erted effort in every possible

way we can, only a few

shined among the rest.

The award best Cotil-

lioner was awarded to CJ

Perocho and Irish Aguilar for

the juniors and Joana May

Bonita and John Ace Adora-

cion for the seniors, while

the best performer went to

John Rei Robasto, Ellyz

Ramos, Mary Ellen Pineda

and Janeil Veloira.

With her white ball

gown, Linea Donasco was so

stunning that she won the

award for best in royalty at-

tire for juniors together with

Quino Reyes with his Cin-

derella’s Prince inspired suit.

And for the seniors, Alexa

Fontanilla and Mark Milaor

shinned in their best attires.

Then the Mr. and Ms.

Junior were declared where

Xylon James Lopena and

Micaela Faith Basco was

given the respective thrones.

For the Mr. and Ms. Senior,

Jefferson De Leon and

Clarissa Mae Tan out shined

the rest.

Of course, the award

everybody’s waiting for, the

Prom King and Queen. This

year’s Prom King was no

other than Paul Fuentes with

his dashing and charismatic

look that night, and the Prom

Queen is Linea Donasco

which is no doubt because

she really did look like a

queen that night, she really

was the fairest that night.

And this is the end of

our once upon a time. Not

really the end, because we

did have our 18 Carnet songs

to dance afterwards, with the

song Let her go for our first

dance and God gave me you

for our last. Of course, what

happened there would be our

own little story which I

shouldn’t tell.

The End.

There are just some

days worth remembering, and

for us Montessorians, October

8 , 2013 was surely one of

them. How could we ever for-

get that approximately 2 hour

flashback on our history? Or

that place filled with art that

made us appreciate paintings,

photographs, sculptures and

historical — items that we

never knew existed? And that

mini-playground that made us

forget that some of us were

high school students, and made

us learn in a way that learning

can be categorized as having

fun? And of course! The place

we've all wanted to go to from

the start of this day, Star City,

with those rides and all, it was

surely memorable for everyone.

Let me tell you my

story that you might find simi-

lar to yours. I woke up a little

tired because when I get excited

I cannot sleep straight and I was

too excited, maybe because this

was my last field trip and my

first trip to Star City. The bus

ride wasn't long, our tour guide

kept speaking all the way and

then we we’re there.

First stop was Tatak

Pinoy located at the CCP com-

plex, Boom na Boom cmpd.

Roxas Blvd., 1399 Pasay City.

We were surrounded by an aura

that was really lively from the

moment we entered. There were

bands and of course, the instru-

ments looked kind of native and

had this Filipino touch in them

and the surroundings would

surely make you remember that

you are a Filipino. We were

welcomed by Tandang Sora and

Andres Bonifacio, but of course

it wasn't actually them. They

were only portrayed by the

guides inside. Afterwards, there

was a show that showed most

of the Filipino heroes whom

were acted out by celebrities.

There were also large tarpaulins

that showed each era in which

the Filipino’s were under. We

had Balagtasan, in which only

selected students among us

were chosen. What really

caught my eye was the place,

the bahay kubos and the stage

made out of bamboos; it was

surely a nice place to be.

Second stop was the

GSIS museum. Art was literally

everywhere. We weren’t al-

lowed to take pictures and it

was a shame given that the

place was too beautiful but

maybe that’s the essence of it,

when you show people some-

thing beautiful right there and

then, they wouldn’t spend too

much effort on seeing them in

person anymore. I won’t be de-

scribing the place too much

because it’s indescribable and

it’s better if you go see the mu-

seum for yourself.

Third stop was a place

called Mind Museum. The 2nd

place I’d been excited to go to

after Star City, and I bet, it’s

yours too. It was like a play-

ground-typed learning place

outside, inside there was a robot

named Aedi which was awe-

some. Where can we ever find a

talking robot that big? Then,

afterwards, they let us roam

around to learn for ourselves for

it is the best way to gain knowl-

edge. I realized that learning

inside the classroom while be-

ing taught by teachers is far less

effective than learning on our

own.

The last stop was Star

City, rides were everywhere.

My favorite ride was the Surf

Dance, it was the 2nd ride I rode

and that was a great mistake.

Still, sometimes we like to do

things that might cause harm to

us but we know that it would

still be worth it. And in the end

it would be our favorite and

most treasured memory and in

this situation Surf Dance was

my favorite ride. Star City also

happened to unleash the braver

side of me, did it unleash yours

too?

The next ride that I found

memorable was the Star Flyer,

that 14 seconds ride where I

tried to open my eyes but failed

to do so. Another one was the

Ferris wheel. It was night time

when we rode it and everything

was just beautiful.

Yes, Star City was a

dizzy memory for me and I

can’t really say much now other

than what I learned from this

fieldtrip: It doesn’t matter

where we go or what we’ll find

there but what’s important is

that we’re with the most impor-

tant people in our lives and for

this day, we surely were with

the most important people in

our lives.

An on-the-spot dance

showdown, by Sir Jun Jun

Toca and selected High

School students, made the

crowd gone wild during the

High School Program of

Montessori De Sto Nino of

Meycauayan’s Nutrition

Month Celebration, July 26.

The celebration, with

the theme ―Gutom at Malnu-

trisyon Sama-sama Nating

Wakasan‖, is organized and

headed by Ms. Maria Kath-

leen G. Conise, HELE

Teacher. It highlighted sepa-

rate programs for each level -

Casa, Primary, Intermediate

and High School.

During their pro-

grams, the elementary and

high school department had

their Nutri Jingle contests.

Each level prepared and pre-

sented their own parodies of

popular hits which contained

lyrics conveying the message

of this year’s theme. This

event became also a venue

for the teachers to display

their talent in dancing.

Teachers from each

level performed a dance

number during their respec-

tive program. And for the

high school level, selected

students had a chance to per-

form an on-the-spot dance

showdown with the junior

high school coordinator and

the Master of Ceremony of

that program, Sir Jun Jun

Toca which cheered the

crowd while they wait for the

Nutri-Jingle Results.

I knew him already be-fore I even got to know his name. His face was more than enough to make him known. I met him because of his brother and apparently got to learn his world and that’s the farthest it could go, chances were already missed. It was both our fault. Everyone has a story to tell. Sometimes these stories remain untold for a reason, people tend to build barriers all over themselves, and here I am breaking my barrier that I have constantly built for 15 years, and never in my life have I cared any less about what other people would think, what do they know, anyway? There are two sides to a story, sometimes there are even more than two, we might not always know what entirely happened or what the whole truth is, well, that is for me, I never actually got to know every side of every book that I’ve ever read and that’s the beauty of stories, it leaves you with endless possi-

bilities on why a certain charac-ter did such a thing. The next thing that you would read is my side of a story and I promise to write only the truth.

2010. I was a freshman, he was a fifth grader. That handsome young boy who caught my attention for about a minute, that boy whose name I wasn’t interested in. He was more than ordinary. He is, as far as I could tell, unique because of his face, perfect as it seems to me, and that was all that I ever knew.

2011. Things went a little too differ-ently, I was a sophomore. He was a sixth grader. That hand-some young boy who kept on talking to me via Yahoo Mes-senger and Facebook, but I just kept ignoring because I was too busy with something else, and he didn’t caught my attention anymore, but what I did caught is myself thinking about our little conversations that were merely nonsense. He told me he had a crush on me. Cute isn’t it? A little boy saying things that he doesn’t really know anything about yet. He knew my name and he knows my face and what more did he knew? He lent me a book that he was too shy to give me personally, so he asked his friend to give it to me. That made me smile for weeks. After that, we stopped talking to each other. He was shy, adorable and smart too. And, that was all that I ever knew.

2012. I was a junior. He was a fresh-

man. I had a suspicion that he was a Pokemon, he evolved! That handsome boy turned into a man. Oh sure he caught my attention, he could get all the attention he wants. He is more than ordinary, 2012 was the year I finally got to know who he really is. Have I ever told you he dances? Well, he does and he’s good at it. Because of that and a lot of other little things and silly reasons, I de-veloped a crush for him. No, not the “I-Love-You-Already” kind of crush but the “I-really-think-you’re-special” crush. I liked him as a person. I made the mistake of telling his brother about that because he found out the day after I told his brother. I’m still making up my mind if it was a mistake or not because if it wasn’t for that, I would never have gotten the chance to know him like I do now. It was funny and awkward, but I didn’t care, I’m talking to him and I'm happy. And, that's all that mattered at that span of time. He invited us to his church, it was nice, I felt happy because I had never been to a church like that before and I was just happy because I didn’t know. Christmas time He told me that he didn’t have a gift for me, so it was okay be-cause I didn’t have a gift either, but he gave me a dark blue pa-per bag with stars and a printed Blue Magic logo on it with a small card with an ugly hand-written note. Everything was in a rush; he gave it to me and went back to his room. I went to our room and opened it. They said what he gave me was cute and it was, it was the perfect material gift I could ever receive at that time, even though, I did-n’t like stuffed toys that much

anymore. All I remembered was how happy I felt and how my smile seemed to last until the end of the year.

2012. 2012 was the year the earth was supposed to end, but, for me, 2012 was the year where I spent nights rewinding our con-versations and staring at the ceiling for no particular reason. Corny as it may seem, I liked him more than I ever did before. And, that was all that I knew.

2013. I was still a junior. He was still this handsome freshman boy, only now, he’s my handsome freshman boy best friend, not literally but I do consider him as one. But things don’t always happen as you would predict them to. 2013 was the silliest, saddest and happiest year. Val-entine’s Day was funny for me, but I wouldn’t tell the story, you probably don’t care about that anyway. Funny, how time changes a lot of things and how we can’t do anything but be okay with it. It was March, I think, when me and my friend went to his house because of nothing, we just wanted to talk. We actu-ally just did nonsense stuff and my nose was full of green stuff that was definitely not boogers because it’s liquidy, anyway, when I was about to laugh, it all went outside and they saw it, I was ultimately embarrassed and they laughed so I wiped it at them so we’re even and as gross as it sounds, I still con-sider that moment as a valuable one, we were all laughing and maybe, all of us are happy at that moment,

and I would repeat it all over again. After that, tears were shed and words were said, things happened and every-thing went differently, things got sad and well, I wouldn’t go into the details, it’s up to you to as-sume what happened. It’s still stupid to think that there were still words that were left unsaid, maybe even buried and would never ever get to be brought up again. And this is all that you would ever know.

Everything will be okay,

we’re only in High School any-

way, how serious could this all

be?

It was a cool Saturday morning. I don't usually wake up

this early considering the fact that I don't have classes on week-ends.

I prepared breakfast for every-body, fried rice, ham and egg. I have to make a good impression

to my mother. After all, she al-lowed me to go, together with my friends, on a very special occa-

sion. The event will be at 3pm but I have to prepare my clothes

and myself for the event. It's nine in the morning; I checked my closet for the best

shirt and pants that I could wear. I chose a light-yellow printed shirt, this will give color to my

pale skin, and I'm going wear my favorite jeans, I look slim and

sexy on it, then, my boots. Now it's time to press my clothes a little to keep it neat.

Eleven in the morning, four hours before the big event. Boy! It took me an hour in the

bathroom. I had to make sure that I look fresh and clean. Brushed my teeth, check! Polished my

nails, check! Blows dry my hair, check! My cellphone rang. It was

my friend, Kim. She's about to leave her house. Uh-oh! Panic

mode! I have to get dressed al-ready, I applied a little blush-on and light lipstick, and afterwards,

I put my accessories on. I have to check myself in the mirror one last time before I leave the house.

Perfect! I look perfect. My brother was so kind to me, he offered to drive me to the venue

so I won't be late . We're here already! That was the text mes-

sage I got from Sarah. My heart was pounding so fast as we are nearing the place.

As I entered the stadium, there were lots of girls every-where, all dressed in fancy

clothes just like me, they all looked their best. I saw my

friends waiting in line. They screamed so loud when they saw me coming, this means we can

now enter the stadium together. This is it! This is the best day ever of my entire fourteen years

of existence. I will see in my fa-vorite boy band, One Direction, in person! It was a meet and greet

event with the fans. I handed them my collection of all their

songs and gave them a scrap book full of their pictures. When

I heard that they will visit the country, I said to myself that nothing or no one can stop me

from seeing them live and in per-son. This is it! The crowd went wild when the program host an-

nounced One ion have arrived. Security personnel immediately held their post to where the guys

are coming out. We were all in-structed to form a line so that the

show would start right away. Luckily, we were in a strategic position, three rows away from

the stage. That means we didn't have to wait that long in the queue. Everyone went jumping

when we heard the song "What Makes You Beautiful" it marked

the entrance of the boys. I can see them waving to the crowd, smiling and blowing kisses to us.

I can't contain my happiness. My knees are shaking and I can’t believe that the Louis, who had

always just been my wallpaper, is standing right in front of us. The meet and greet started right

away. Me and my friends were so excited while counting the num-

ber of girls before us. When it was my turn, I didn't waste any

chance and asked Louis for a picture with him, I even got to kiss him! He looked right at me,

straight into my eyes; it felt like my world stopped for a moment.

When I finally got back

to my senses, I pulled my friends

towards the exit. While looking

at the autograph, I noticed an

eleven-digit-number at the bot-

tom of Louis' signature; it ap-

peared to be a cellular phone

number. Could it be? Could it be

that he gave me his number? But,

why? He wanted me to call him?

Is this for real? I showed it to my

friends and they started scream-

ing. Without any hesitation, I

sent him a message: "Is this

Louis Tomlinson? I got your

number on the signed CD. Please

reply!‖. I heard a beep, one mes-

sage received. I read it: ―Yes

Margie! This is Louis; I hope to

see you after the show. "I can't

believe what I just read. I showed

it to my friends and they started

screaming, they were shaking

and hugging me all at the same

time. So we waited for another

text that said: "Please meet me

backstage, I already gave instruc-

tions to the Security Personnel. It

was Louis! I had to go there

alone because the security won't

let others come with me. When I

entered the dressing room, he

was standing by the door as if he

was waiting for me. There it was

again, his eyes staring straight

right at mine. He held my hand

and kissed it, this is too much! I

can't believe that this is happen-

ing! He was about to kiss me in

the lips when I heard a loud ring

that I almost jumped from my

bed. It was my alarm clock! Six

in the morning, time to wake up

for school. It was just a dream, a

very beautiful dream. If only I

can sleep back to continue that

dream. I was that close to kissing

him! Well, I'll sleep early tonight.

*Winks!*

After losing their first

game last November 5

against The Cardinals Acad-

emy in the Meycauayan City

Athletics Meet, MDSN Vol-

leyball Team battled back

and won two matches before

losing the chance to qualify

for the semi-finals.

MDSN Volleyball

team coached by Ms. Julie

Blas was beaten by the Car-

dinals Academy, 2-0 sets (25

-15, 25-16) in their first

game. With their first loss,

MDSN got disheartened and

Lerry Dulay even showed

tears. Although they were

overwhelmed in their first

game, MDSN team did not

falter in losing their eye on

the prize and won two con-

secutive matches and re-

deemed themselves. The

players also made sure that

they are in shape as they do

warm-ups and further train-

ing before clashing for a

match.

MDSN had shown

how hard and diligently they

trained for this competition

as they triumph 2-0 sets (25-

9, 25-12) against St. Michael

Academy and another 2-0

sets (25-8, 25-9) against St.

Mary Montessori. With these

two wins, MDSN will have a

chance to compete for the

semi-finals if they can win

their next match with Mey-

cauayan College (MC).

The players was fal-

ling short at first due to nerv-

ousness. Aguilar was substi-

tuted by Madarang as she

was not in her game. Never-

theless, in the latter part of

the game, MDSN began to

get back and they even tied

scores with MC. But the op-

ponents lived up to their

reputation as one of the best

teams as they trounced

MDSN, 2-0 (25-12, 25-13).

This became the last match

of the volleyball team as they

went home with a happy

heart and proud for their suc-

cess and contented with what

they have achieved.

This just shows how

much the MDSN volleyball

team improved compared to

last year. They showed great

teamwork and great sports-

manship and maybe next

year MDSN would finally

take home the trophy.

The MDSN Volleyball Team. (L-R) Standing: Canonce,

Villanueva, Arguelles, Dulay, Basco, Bolitres, Bonita.

Sitting: Bonita, Madarang, De Guzman, Donasco, Aguilar.

Despite losing their

games, MDSN badminton

team did not go home as los-

ers. They are winners for

they showed sportsmanship

and discipline during their

game.

Last November 6 was

the opening of the athletics

competition for the Mey-

cauayan City Schools Divi-

sion Athletic Meet at the

Meycauayan West Central

School – but not for the Bad-

minton Varsity. Their com-

petition started on November

7 held at Trinitas College.

While the others are fighting

for places and proving what

they've trained for, the Bad-

minton team, carrying the

reputation of their school,

still continued training at the

MDSN Gymnasium which

only proved how much they

wanted to bring home the

medals.

Before even going to

Trinitas College, they did

some warm up exercises.

And having much training, it

is already predicted that they

will have a good game.

First game was be-

tween Jesselim Lim for

MDSN and Lance Acuesta

from Trinitas College. Luck

was not in favor with Lim

that day as he lost the first

game, but still, he proved

that he can level with others

schools. The game ended

with the scores of 27

(MDSN) and 35(TC).

Our MDSN doubles,

Egea and Altoveros(Boys)

and Acepcion and Estrada

(Girls), unfortunately did not

won, but still, their efforts

was already enough to call

them winners. But on the

bright side, Jazzle Reyes

won twice. There were

tensed moments during the

game when she almost slide

and could have even frac-

tured her ankle while trying

to hit the shuttlecock.

On the other hand, JB

Advincula and MNHS made

the crowd nervous as their

scores having only a one

point difference to win the

game. And JB won with that

one point. But needless to

say, Advincula’s lack of

footwork might have been

what caused the negative re-

sults of his next games.

Second Day was a

tough one since Jazzle was

the only one who is going to

compete and surely this was

no more fun and games. If

she wins this game, she’ll

grab the bronze medal for

sure. Unfortunately she lost

her 3rd game with SMCM

with the score of 21-20 in the

first set and 21-19 in the sec-

ond set.

Reyes’s 4th and last

game was with the IUF

Academy. This game would

be a tough one as IUF being

known as the school where

good badminton players are,

with their fast footwork and

strong smashes with a least

bit of effort. She may seem

nervous but still, she played

it well and from the way it

looks, she also had fun which

is what’s playing is all about.

The game continued with

IUF taking the lead and the

game ended with the final

scores being 35 and 18, with

IUF winning.

But MDSN didn’t go

home without gaining some-

thing. Sure, it would be great

to win but there is so much

more than just winning.

Some of them gained experi-

ence while some gained

courage by overcoming their

fear of losing. All of them

got better because of their

practice and even gained

friends, and that is more than

enough.

Ping pong balls

bounced at Meycauayan Na-

tional High School, Bancal

for the Meycauayan City

Schools Division Athletic

Meet was held at, November

6-8.

Representing MDSN,

Jefferson de Leon, Ellen

Pineda (singles), Anshirina

Rivera, Jonellie Bughao

(girls-doubles), Earl Daliuag

and Xylon Lopena (boys-

doubles) proved themselves

worthy opponents on the ta-

ble, and Coach Kathleen

Conise made sure of it. With

their fingers grasped on their

paddles and their eyes on the

prize, these players were

ready for a smash of victory.

The first of the play-

ers to be laid out on the field

was Ellen Pineda who was

faced with Princess Clarisse

Macabitas of MNHS Bancal

who won three sets with the

scores of 11-11-15 against

Pineda’s 5-9-13. She was

then faced next with St.

Mary’s College of Mey-

cauayan’s (SMCM) Kath

Galicia with Pineda winning

with the scores of 11-11-11

against Galicia’s 7-7-4. Her

final opponent also happened

to be from SMCM, Daren

Barguez who won four sets

with 11-11-13 against

Pineda’s 6-9-15-3.

The team’s captain

ball, Jefferson de Leon, com-

peted against The Cardinal

Academy’s (TCA) Felixberto

Ama, with the scores of 2-7-

4 and 11-11-11, thus victory

for Ama. His next opponent

was from Meycauayan Col-

lege (MC), Nicollo Unson

who won the fierce four-set

game with 8-11-11-11

against de Leon’s 11-2-3-8.

After that, it was our

doubles players’ turns to play

an all-out rally on the table

as Anshirina and Jonellie

competes against MNHS

Bancal’s Glydel and Joan

who won against the duo.

The next players they faced

with were St. Mary’s Acad-

emy’s (SMA) Elaine Rivero

and Knicks Decilio with An-

shirina and Jonellie getting

the scores of 12-11-3-10

against 10-8-11-12. Mean-

while, Earl and Xylon’s op-

ponents did not show up,

thus becoming default and

giving the boys a technical

win.

It was not a good day

for MDSN’s table tennis

players, but it was not a bad

one either. Every step of the

way, they had fun with what

they were doing and dis-

played teamwork a l l

throughout as they were de-

termined to win but were

also having fun. This group

of skilled athletes had mas-

sive potential and could have

won it all.

A nice return from the tandem of Rivera and Bughao.

Our very own Lady

Chess Master, Carla M.

Cañizares, checked her

way to the CLRAA meet in

Iba, Zambales last Decem-

ber 16-20, 2013.

Last November 6-8,

2013, Cañizares represented

our school in the Mey-

cauayan City Schools Divi-

sion Athletic Meet Chess

Competition. With her un-

doubtedly good skills, great

strategies and helpful ad-

vices from mentors, she

earned her a silver medal

which became her touch

move to the Central Luzon

Regional Athletics Associa-

tion Meet.

During the Mey-

cauayan City Schools Divi-

sion Athletics Meet, Carla

was not the only one who

gained recognition. Her fel-

low Montessorians also

bagged an award in the com-

petition. Christian Joshua

Perocho won 3rd place and

even though the others did

not get an award, they still

exhibited great skills and

great sportsmanship.

As her jumpstart in

the regionals, Cañizares bat-

tled against her fellow repre-

sentative from Meycauayan

College which resulted to a

draw. After that she fought

against different divisions

from Central Luzon, which

gave her a standing of four

draws against Meycauayan,

Bataan, Tarlac and Zam-

bales. one lose against San

Jose del Monte and two wins

against Gapan and Caba-

natuan.

With this standing

she didn’t manage to take

home any trophy but this just

shows that she is one of the

best athletes. Her efforts in

training had been tremen-

dous and this is a payoff for

all those efforts. Montessori

de Sto. Niño once again has

something to be proud of.

The MDSN Chess Team: (L-R) Christina Joshua Perocho, Dellesandro Caguioa, Coach Robby

Camacho, Pauline Dela Concepcion and Carla Canizares.

Super Lay-up! Jasper Abitan scores for his team during their rematch against SMASN where

they won with the score of 70-68.

Despite losing their

game against Meycauayan

College (MC) with a score

of 58-74, favor of MC, in

their way to the finals, the

MDSN basketball team

managed to execute great

games until the semi-finals

resulting them to be in the

final four during the last

Meycauayan City Schools

Division Athletic Meet held

at Saint Francis of Assisi

Parish Basketball Court,

Poblacion, Meycauayan

City last November 6-11.

The MDSN Basket-

ball team managed to be in

the final four with their

standings, 61-68(against

SMASN), 61-57(against

Trinitas College), 74-48

(against St.Michael Acad-

emy), and 70-68 (against

SMASN) and in their final

game 58-74(against MC). In

every game, the team exe-

cuted great performance no

matter how big or small the

difference are between their

opponents. Each game gave

pressure not only for the

players but for the fans as

well.

Their very first game

started intensely as they were

faced with SMASN who has

been known for having great

players. Their opponent’s

sharp-shooter Hababag made

sure that no points can be put

to waste resulting into the

downfall of MDSN. But with

that, the team’s spirit rose

higher as the desire to win

was clearly shown in their

eyes. They just proved how

well trained they are and

how quitting isn’t part of it

and they showed it all in

their next game which was

against Trinitas College.

The game was in-

tense as both teams kept on

exchanging scores and even

had an overtime play. The

last short minutes were very

crucial for both teams as it

will define who among them

has to leave the court. With

only a few points advantage

against TC, MDSN had no

time to dose off.

As long as they can

get another score and defend

the ball from being caught by

the opponent. Mauricio’s

sudden 3-point shot helped a

lot in giving them an advan-

tage while Abitan and

Chan’s inside play is the rea-

son why they managed to get

even. In the end MDSN had

their first win. They contin-

ued to do their best as they

managed to pile up their

scores against their next op-

ponent which is SMA.

Through this they

were once again faced with

SMASN but this time around

they made sure that they’ll

win. The game was as in-

tense as their first; they just

have nothing to lose any-

more. They continuously

exchange points, it just

seemed like no one’s going

to give up.

It kept on going like

that until the buzzer finished

it off, announcing that

MDSN won this time. Be-

cause of that they have to

face MC which has always

been considered a tough op-

ponent, they had continu-

ously been called as one of

the bests players.

MDSN gave their all,

they even managed to get

equal scores with them but in

the end MC won. But despite

the loss everyone went home

―Teamwork!‖ a simple word

chanted by the members and

the reason why they reached

their place.

Common may it be

but one of the necessary fac-

tors in every game being

played. Though at times

some members looked like

they are wandering during

the game but what’s impor-

tant is throughout every

game the individual’s skills

was highlighted and they

used it to show great team-

work and good games.

With Tan Bonliong

and Chan’s height they man-

aged to keep hold with the

blocks and rebound with a

help from Kamata. Cañon’s

sure shots, Poyaoan and

Mauricio’s 3-points, the

Captainball’s great leader-

ship and amazing plays, the

group’s support for each

other and the coach’s guid-

ance is the reason why they

deserve to be called

―Winners‖.
