Marmox Board on walls

Marmox construction boards are fixed vertically to timber, brick, concrete or metal framewalls. For better thermal insulation use thicker boards (min. 20 mm) closely butted.

Metal and timber frame walls Procedure

- Vertical studs are at 600 mm, noggins at 600 mm. - Board edges must be supported by noggin. - Cut around all penetrations. - Use 8 galvanized screws per m , min. 30 mm from edges. - Screw to be tightened till washers bite the board surface then level the washers with a rubber malet. - Cover joints by self adhesive fiber glass tape embedded in a layer of flexible tile adhesive. - Once the adhesive has hardened tiles can be fixed and grouted.

®

®

2

Water proofing

For water proof construction all joints, penetrations and fastener locations must be treatedby approved polyurethane water proofing agents as per manufacturer's recommendation.

Brick and concrete walls

Even walls procedure

- For clean and sound wall use flexible tile adhesive. Coat the wall surface or apply an adhesive directly to the board surface (min. thickness 10 mm) - Comb out with 10 mm trowel creating a ribbed adhesive bed. Offer up boards and align vertically and horizontally. Bed firmly into place. - If adhesion can not be achieved by adhesive use dowels, screws and washers at the rate of 5 dowels per m . Use min. 20 mm boards. - Cover all joints with fiber glass tape embedded in flexible tile adhesive.

2

9

Uneven walls Procedure

- Drill the board at the rate of 5 dowels per m (min. 20 mm thick). - Place dabs of adhesive to be placed on the holes, then the board to be offered up and aligned vertically and horizontally.- Once the adhesive dries, drill the board through the holes and the wall, and insert dowels, washers and screws, hammer the washer with rubber malt to finish level with board surface. Tape all the joints and apply flexible tile adhesive in the usual manner, and when the adhesive dries, the wall can be tiled.

Marmox Board on floors

Marmox Board can be used as a structural element in floors with the option of 6 mm or 10 mm. Being practically waterproof, it is ideal for use in bathrooms and showers. However, the concrete floor must be level and dust free. New concrete should be cured before fixing Marmox Board

Concrete floors Procedure:

- All traces of existing material should be removed to the concrete substrate; the floor should be level and dust free. - New concrete slab should be cured before fixing Marmox Construction Boards. - Apply a bed of flexible adhesive to the concrete slab with a notched trowel; boards are then to be thoroughly bedded in a staggered pattern, ensuring that no voids remain beneath them. - When the tile adhesive is cured, tape all the joints with the fiber glass tape, then install the heating element, and tile with flexible tile adhesive. - Movement joints must not be bridged by the Marmox construction board.

Timber floors Procedure:

- Timber floor must be rigid, checked for flatness. - The floor must be primed, before fully dry apply flexible cement adhesive layer with notched trowel, boards then laid (min. 10 mm) in a staggered pattern, fully bedded to ensure no void under the boards. - When the adhesive is cured, apply fiber glass tape to the joints and flexible tile adhesive. - After flexible tile adhesive dries secure the boards with screws and washers at the rate of 15/board with min. 30 mm from the edge.

1.5 Marmox XT: Phenolic Foams®

Marmox XT differs from standard Marmox Board in that the core material is made of a specially selected type of phenolic foam instead of XPS.

The main advantages of Marmox Board XT in comparison to the XPS type are the considerably better heat insulation values, the non-combustible fire safety and higher continuous working temperatures (more than double) and the considerably higher resistance to fire and high temperatures.

On the other hand, the XPS type usually has lower water absorption properties. However, Marmox Board XT has comparable water absorption when using an additional surface waterproofing.

Marmox HD boards differ from standard construction boards in that they are strengthened with regularly distributed polymeric concrete prismspassing through the total thickness of the board. The diameter of the prisms range between 10 to 30mm. They are spaced at distances of 25 to 100mm in both directions. The main advantage of the Marmox HD board is its high compressive strength which varies between 4 and 24 Kg / cm at a negligible compressibility compared to the standard Marmox board.

Compared to the standard type, Marmox board HD doesn't show a significant decrease in heat insulation or weight increase.

Installing Marmox Board under-floor heating insulation

Whatever the construction of your subfloor, our under-floor heating insulation will be sure work with it. The system can be installed on both concrete and timber floors.

Fixed with adhesive Procedure:

- Make sure the floor is clean and dirt free.- Using a floor trowel comb a thick bed of cement based flexible tile adhesive over the floor.- Lay Marmox Board down in place and press firmly. Stagger all the joints in a brick like fashion. Tape the joints with Marmox reinforcing tape. For extra waterproofing you can use Marmox acrylic sealant over or between the joints. Or for really wet areas use Marmox self-adhesive waterproof tape.- The under-floor heating system can then be simply rolled out and fixed according to the manufacturer's recommendations and is then ready for tiling.

®

Fixing with screws and washers Procedure:

- Make sure the floor is clean and dirt free. - Use 12 stainless steel screws / Marmox washers per 1.25 m board (3 rows or 4).
