FISH BITESThe Marlins continue the first of two season-long 10-game homestands today with the second of three games against the Los Angeles Angels at 4:10 p.m. RHP Vance Worley (0-1, 6.75), making his second start with Miami, has no record and 0.00 ERA in two prior appearances (no starts) against the Angels. The Halos are countering with RHP JC Ramirez (4-3, 3.81), who in his only career appearance against the Fish tossed 2.0 scoreless innings in relief on Sep-tember 24, 2013 at Marlins Park with the Phillies. Today's ceremonial first pitches are being thrown out by Renelmo Nunez, and the national anthem is being performed by the Sawgrass Springs Middle School Band. The first 7,500 fans will receive a Marlins Beach Towel, presented by Waste Management. The Marlins returned home from their most recent road trip Thursday, going 2-4 against the Los Angeles Dodgers (1-3) and Oakland Athletics (1-1). The current homestand will also feature a three-game set against Philadelphia and a four-game series against Arizona.

LAST NIGHT VS. ANGELSMiami came out swinging, recording 14 hits in its 8-5 win over the visiting Los Angeles Angels. The Halos struck for one run in the opening frame off Dan Straily, but the Fish responded with four of their own in the bottom half of the frame. In the second, the Marlins scored their fifth run on a bases-loaded walk. Following two Angels runs in the top of the sixth, Justin Bour launched his team-leading 13th home run, a three-run shot to right, to put Miami up 8-3. The top three in Miami's order posted three-hit games, as Dee Gordon went 3x5, Giancarlo Stanton 3x5 and Christian Yelich 3x3 with three doubles. Stanton (12) and J.T. Realmuto (4) also homered for the Fish in the first. Straily evened his season record at 3-3 with the win, allowing three runs on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

AGAINST THE ANGELSThe last time the Marlins and Angels faced off was from August 25-27, 2014, as the Fish dropped two of three in Ana-heim. Miami trails the all-time series, 5-8, and have gone 3-4 against the Halos in South Florida.

INTERLEAGUE NOTESThe Marlins have gone 4-9 in Interleague Play this season, facing off against Seattle (1-2), Tampa Bay (1-3), Houston (0-3), Oakland (1-1) and the Angels (1-0). Last year, Miami was 6-14 against the American League, playing the Central and Tampa Bay. The Fish have an overall record of 179-184 against the AL all-time. Miami leads all National League teams in hits (3,276), doubles (649), runs scored (1,651) and RBI (1,566) since the inception of Interleague Play.

AT THE FRONT OF THE LINEIn 297 career Interleague games, Ichiro Suzuki has posted a .316 average, with 362 hits in 1144 at-bats. His Inter-league hits total is second all-time to only Derek Jeter, who amassed 364 hits over 276 games.

ELIAS SAYSJustin Bour continued his tear in the Marlins 8-5 win vs. the Angels, hitting home run number 13, his ninth in his last 14 games. Bour is the third player this season to hit nine homers over 14 games: Eric Thames and Aaron Judge both hit 10 over 14 games. Four other Marlins players have hit nine-or-more homers in 14 games in a season: Gary Sheffield in 1996, Charles Johnson in 2001, Dan Uggla in 2008, and Giancarlo Stanton in 2015 (10 HR in 14 games).

DOUBLE DIPPINGLast night, Christian Yelich tied a career high and club record with three doubles. He also doubled three times on April 22, 2016 at San Francisco. It was the 26th time in Franchise history a Marlins player has recorded three doubles in a game; however, it was the first time any player had done so in only three official at-bats.

ADVANTAGE MIAMIThe Marlins have outslugged their opponents in terms of home runs at Marlins Park, clubbing 26 while allowing 21. Since moving into Marlins Park, the Fish have homered more than their opponent over the course of a single season just once. In 2014, Miami hit 59, while visiting teams hit 45.

MAY HE HAVE ANOTHERJustin Bour connected for his ninth home run in the month of May last night, tying his highest career single-month home run total (also September 2015). It is also tied for the fourth-most ever in the month of May in Marlins history, behind Giancarlo Stanton (12 in 2012), Dan Uggla (12 in 2008) and Cody Ross (10 in 2008). His nine home runs this month are tied with Yonder Alonso and Jake Lamb for the Major League lead.

ON A TEARWith three hits last night, Dee Gordon extended his current hitting streak to six games. Over those six contests, he has recorded five multi-hit games, including two three-hit affairs, and hit .481 (13x27). Gordon is tied with Charlie Blackmon and Jean Segura for second in the Majors with seven three+ hit games, behind Avisail Garcia's eight.

DOUBLE-PLAY MASTERMarlins reliever Brad Ziegler has induced six double plays this season, tied with two other relievers for fourth in the Majors, behind Bryan Shaw (8), Mike Montgom-ery (7) and Ross Stripling (7). Since 2008, Ziegler leads all active Major League relievers with 120 GIDP, well in front of Jim Johnson (91) and Zach Duke (86). He has a GIDP percentage of 20.6, second to only Blake Treinen's 21.0.

FULL BOURPrior to collecting a career-high four hits on April 30, Justin Bour was batting .184 (14x76) with two doubles, three home runs, nine RBI and a .267 on-base percent-age. Since April 30, the big lefty has hit at a .378 clip (31x82) with four doubles, 10 home runs, 24 RBI, and a .452 OBP. In that time, he owns the Major League lead in home runs and ranks second in the Majors in RBI. Among NL first basemen in that same span, he leads in hits, average, home runs, RBI and slugging percentage (.793). Bour has hit in a career-best eight consecutive games, batting .406 (13x32) with nine runs scored, five home runs and nine RBI in that span.

THIS DAY IN MARLINS HISTORY

Page 2: MARLINS PARK, MIAMI, FL · FISH BITES The Marlins continue the first of two season-long 10-game homestands today with the second of three games against the Los Angeles Angels at 4:10

Worley is making his second start with the Marlins. He was signed to a Minor League contract on April 2 and made eight starts at Triple-A New Orleans before having his contract selected on May 21 and making his Miami debut that day at Dodger Stadium.

Has just two career appearances against the Angels, both in relief last season for the Orioles. Walked the only two batters he faced on May 21 at Anaheim, and allowed one hit in a scoreless inning the next day.

In his first five seasons in the Majors (2010-14), 73 of his 81 appearances were starts (90.1 percent), with a 26-22 record and 3.77 ERA in starts and a 1-0 record and 3.09 ERA out of the ‘pen. Since start of 2015 season, just 13 of 59 appear-ances have been starts (22.0 percent); has gone 3-6, 4.83 as a starter in that time, and 3-3, 3.09 as a reliever.

He spent Spring Training with Washington and was released on March 29. Signed a minor league contract with Miami on April 2 and made eight starts for NOLA on the season.

Made organizational debut on April 8 with a scoreless start vs. Memphis, allow-ing just three hits and a walk over 5.0 innings, with two strikeouts.

Had another scoreless outing in his third start, on April 18 vs. Iowa, this time allowing just two hits over 7.0 frames, with one walk and three strikeouts, pick-ing up his first win of the season.

Suffered a loss in four consecutive outings from April 23 to May 9. Tossed a 7.0-inning complete game during that span, in Game 2 of a doubleheader on May 4 vs. Iowa (6 h, 2 r, 1 er, bb, 6 so, hb).

Snapped the skid in his final outing for NOLA before being selected, on May 14 at Reno. Picked up the win after allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks over 6.0 innings, with three strikeouts. Tossed at least 4.0 innings in all of his eight starts for NOLA. Allowed just one run (earned) and two hits (one home run) in the first inning; also held opponents to four runs (one earned) on 10 hits (one home run) in the second inning. In the third frame, his ERA rose to 9.00 on eight earned runs and 16 hits, while his fourth-inning ERA was 6.75 on six earned runs and 11 hits.

Right-handed batters were hitting .245 (24x98, 2 hr) against him in NOLA, while left-handers were batting .382 (29x76, 2 hr).

Was 1x10 at the plate for the Baby Cakes, with two sacrifice hits.
