Daily Learning
Please continue to use your spelling strategies (located on inside covers of spelling
books) to practise your spellings. You could revise all spellings from the year so far!
You could also sign into Oxford Owl and complete some of the Spelling Extra
Practice Zone. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/
Please use this time to read as much as possible! Try to do 20 minutes as a minimum.
We would love to hear about the books you have read. Write a book review; this
could be hand written, typed or you could even pin one to a book on the Reading
Cloud.
Continue to play Times Tables Rock Stars as much as possible. Can you improve your
speed of recall? You could become a Rock Legend!
Completing home learning
You can complete your home learning tasks in your spelling homework book or you can
complete it electronically. If you need support, then you can upload to assignments in
Microsoft teams or email it to your class email address.
English
Last week you took a look at setting descriptions. You worked on describing the
senses as you walked through the Amazon rainforest.
Over the next two weeks, you will explore narrative ideas. You will explore character
creations, story mapping and story writing, so Roald Dahl hats at the ready!
Today you are going to work on creating a character for a story that takes place in
the Amazon rainforest.
Have a look at the writers of Doctor Who discussing their characters.

Task 1: You need to create all the basic facts for your character. The name,
appearance and character. Use the template at the end of the document to help you
create a believable and realistic character (NOT a superhero) for your forest story.
Task 2: To prepare for creating your character please watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdDZFr31ApE
Now go back to your character creation and think about what drives your character.
What do they NEED and what do they WANT. Add these thoughts to your
character’s sheet.
Finally add a unique fact for your character. What makes them different to any
other character you might have seen?
Maths
Last week you were multiplying 3 digit numbers by 2 digit numbers, today you
will progress a little further by multiplying 4 digit numbers by 2 digit
numbers.
Use the same method as before but just continue into the thousands column
when multiplying across that top line of numbers.
Follow the example:

This term we will be looking at some different life cycles. We are going to
start with the human life cycle, which you will be more familiar with than
perhaps the mosquito life cycle!
We can tell just by looking at someone, that they may be older or younger
than ourselves, but what changes are going on with that person’s body and
their life?
To start with try to answer the following:
How are you different from a teenager?
How is a teenager different from an adult?
What things can you do that a baby can’t?
What things is an adult allowed to do by law, that you can’t?
What are some of the signs that someone is old aged? Is there anything that
they might find difficult to do?
Below is a chart for you to complete (including drawing the pictures), to help
you think about some of these changes in more detail. Some parts have been
completed to help you see what you need to do.
