My favorite clients are those who are willing to ask tough questions and explore new ways of communicating their messages, always tweaking how their consumers experience their brand. My favorite projects are the big ones. The ones where we can truly build a brand, not just “create an ad” because there’s a discount in a magazine next month. (Of course, sometimes that’s part of the good work too.) Good communication is consistently interesting and inviting communication — ultimately, it’s relational. How would we work together? I believe in creating great, usable design that suits who you are and what you hope to achieve. To get there, I am committed to exploring the most effective methods possible. I have over fifteen years of experience in the corporate and fast-paced agency world, and bring the energy and efficiencies I learned then to my projects now. I also bring partnerships with great vendors — writers, illustrators, photographers, printers, web designers, and producers — talented people I call on when your project calls for something beyond my skill set. Together, we agree on a process that fits the relationship and the project, marking milestones as we move to completion. How do we get started? Let’s meet! We’ll talk through your needs – I’ll ask you questions about your brand, your customers, your product, and your messages and delivery. I’ll provide you with an overview and estimate before we get too far along, so we can agree on deliverables, timing, and cost. Once that’s approved, we’ll get things moving. I have project, account, and production management experience, so rest assured your materials will be delivered on time and on budget. Take a look at my resume to learn more about my experience and browse my portfolio to get a feel for the kind of work I’ve done in the last few years. Then, send me an email or give me a call. Hello, I’m Rachel Hyde.

I’m a freelance designer, an art director, a strategic creative thinker, and I’m always looking for new opportunities to be creative.

In January of 2010, I decided to take my experience in the agency world and begin my own company, Hyde Creative, LLC. I can now offer my clients everything they need to bring their message to life - from strategic consultation to design concept, to layout and production. On time, and more cost-effective than paying for a big agency experience.

Some of these pieces just need to be experienced in person. Besides, I like having coffee with cool people.

Sincerely,

Rachel Hyde Hyde Creative, LLC

I have had the privilege of working with Rachel Hyde on numerous projects and initiatives during our 4-1/2 years together at The Image Group. Rachel has proven time and time again to be an extremely thorough art director capable of delivering beautiful, well thought-out creative executions.

Gifted both artistically and with a strong sense of curiosity, Rachel and her drive to know the details and reasons behind a particular strategy have consistently produced compelling images and thoughts that go so far beyond the notion of simply being “page decoration.” As a senior account manager, I had come to rely on Rachel for insight and a trusted voice and opinion in my attempts to help my clients solve a problem, or reach their objectives and goals. Rachel’s gifts of discernment, empathy, and flat-out fantastic eye for artistic nuance which can make a good idea great is what I believe makes her the wonderful talent that she is.

In summary, she gets things done on time, on budget, and better than I might have ever imagined. I would like to offer my whole-hearted endorsement of Rachel as not only a talented art director, but as a wonderful teammate and person!

STEVE DE PUYS, SENIOR ACCOUNT MANAGER, THE IMAGE GROUP

This letter is my personal recommendation for Rachel Hyde. Until just recently, I have been a coworker and peer of Rachel for several years. I found her to be the consummate professional, always intentional and precise in everything she does.

Besides being a genuinely kind and compassionate person, Rachel is a strong designer with remarkable strategic skills. Whenever we had a project that required in-depth analysis of how designs would work together or how to navigate through the big picture, Rachel was our first pick. After more than 10 years of experience, Rachel has become much more than art director. She’s really become a creative director – knowing the right strategic questions to ask and the reason behind every piece of communication.

Rachel was also a vocal advocate for the entire creative department. One of her largest internal endeavors was cleaning up a rather overwhelming and neglected font database. In addition, she was often the go-to person when it came to questions of design software. The team relied on her help and expertise to get the most out of their electronic tools.

I highly recommend Rachel. She is a high integrity person of great character that will be an asset to any organization.

AMANDA COOPER, OPERATIONS MANAGER, THE IMAGE GROUP

This letter serves as a recommendation for Rachel Hyde. As a Production Manager, I have worked closely with Rachel for the last five years and have come to really appreciate all the talent she brings to a creative project.

She started at The Image Group as a talented designer, but it was soon apparent that her skills went beyond being able to come up with “pretty” designs, and as a result was promoted to Art Director.

Rachel is very knowledgeable in many of the graphic design programs. She approaches a project not only from the design sense, but from a strategic thinker’s point of view. She has the innate ability to take complex levels of client info, understand it, quickly assimilate it, and bring order to it in a logical, manageable fashion and then translate that into on-target creative. Because of this ability, she worked on some the agency’s largest, most complex projects.

I found Rachel to be smart and even-keeled, and she was a valued, award-winning member of our creative team. She was well respected by our Account Management team as well. They often included her in client meetings when creative was to be presented. She was always professional and gracious and we were always proud to present our clients with her creative.

Again, I recommend Rachel – she is extremely gifted, smart, and her skill set is top-notch.

What do awards really mean?

Though I do not enter design competitions personally, some of my clients and vendors have entered materials that I’ve worked on. While I’m pleased with the recognition, though the measure of success of a design lies not in the approval of a panel of judges, but rather in its effectiveness of connecting to the intended audience.

Resolve Planning Guide, with detachable bookmark stencil tool | Herman Miller

Herman Miller wanted to revisit the way they approached planning, and needed a new comprehensive tool that Dealers couldregularly reference for accurate technical information about their products. Especially with their ground-breaking new product, the Resolve line. I was part of a large team that developed this new planning guide over a two year period. I coordinated inputfrom team members and translated that into the content for each product. I also designed and created the layout for the entirebook. The end product was so well received that we also created a planning guide for their “Q” system the next year.

EligibilityMagnet Programs are open to qualified students on a countywide basis. All Broward County resident students entering grades K-12 are eligible to apply. Students must be five years old by September 1, 2010 to enter kindergarten.

All students will demonstrate good conduct. At the middle and high school level, academic/talent entrance criteria have been established for admission to each Magnet Program to promote student success. The School Board is committed to providing settings for education that promote understanding of diversity, tolerance and fair play, so that the positive tenets of a democratic society are reinforced by what all students experience in schools. In the Broward County Public Schools, diversity is broadly defined to include students of different genders, of different racial and ethnic backgrounds, of various socioeconomic circumstances, those who speak English as a second language, and those who have exceptional and special needs.

Academic Requirements Acceptance into a Magnet Program for middle and high school students is based on academic performance and/or audition. Exceptional education students with disabilities must meet magnet school entry requirements that will ensure the student’s success in the magnet program. English Language Learners (ELL) must have FCAT or nationally standardized test scores in reading and/or mathematics and the GPA as required criteria for specific magnet programs as described in Policy.

For all middle and high school programs, unless otherwise noted, there is a review process for students who do not meet the following established entrance criteria: International Baccalaureate, Middle Years Program /International Baccalaureate and Liberal Arts Programs

Grade Point Average – 3.0•Level 4 or greater FCAT score (reading & math) •

Latin School and Science / Pre-Engineering ProgramsGrade Point Average – 3.0•Level 3 or greater FCAT score (reading & math)•

All other Magnet Secondary ProgramsGrade Point Average – 2.0•Level 3 or greater FCAT score (reading & math)•

CostThere is no cost to attend Magnet Programs. Magnet Programs offer special curriculum, state-of-the-art technology and equipment, and unique instruction not available in other schools. They are educational options in Broward County Public Schools.

Program Continuity Continuity of program placement is available at the next level of magnet education to students who meet the academic criteria requirements. To exercise their priority rights, students must follow application procedures and meet the application deadlines. Magnet students wishing to change programs will not be entitled to continuity priority. Choosing the right Magnet Program is important. Students and parents may choose from the Magnet Programs based on special interests, talents, and abilities. See what the various Magnet Programs have to offer. All magnet schools offer tours and/or have scheduled open houses. Take advantage of these opportunities to see the schools and programs firsthand.

If my child is currently enrolled in a Magnet Program, does he/she need to reapply? Magnet students in the 5th and 8th grades must apply for middle and high school magnet programs. However, current magnet students do not need to apply in order to remain in their present magnet school.

If my child is currently attending a Magnet Program in another county and we move, is he/she automatically transferred into the Broward County Magnet Program? No, you will need to complete an application to enroll your child in the Broward County Magnet Programs. Placement in a Magnet Program will be based on space availability, along with academic/talent criteria at the secondary level.

If my child is in a Magnet Program and applies to a different Magnet Program, does he/she automatically get in? No. However, if your child is in a Magnet Program and applies to a secondary program (middle school or high school) within the same theme, submits the application by the deadline date, and meets the academic criteria, he/she will be given priority placement in filling the available seats. If a student chooses a different theme, priority placement WILL NOT be given. If the student wishes to change Magnet Programs in the middle of the academic year, entrance criteria must be met and space must be available in the new Magnet Program of choice. There is no automatic transfer.

Can I give the completed application to my child’s guidance counselor and have him/her send it to the Innovative Programs Office? No, it is YOUR responsibility to guarantee that your child’s application is mailed to the Innovative Programs Office by February 17, 2010.

How and when will I be notified of my child’s acceptance into a Magnet School? If you submitted your application by February 17, notification will be sent no later than April 1. Late applications will be processed as received. If your child is not accepted this year, you must reapply next year.

If my child is not accepted at his/her “first selection” Magnet School, how do I request that he/she be activated for the “second selection” Magnet School? Contact the Innovative Programs Office and request that your child be activated at his/her “second selection” Magnet School.

If my child is not accepted, can he/she appeal?Applicants who do not meet magnet eligibility criteria shall have the opportunity to appeal according to Policy.
