SKID ROW HOUSING TRUST: SECOND STOP ON THE TOUR OF HOPE 2013
Skid Row Housing Trust’s philosophy is simple: Homes. Support. Success.
The Skid Row Housing Trust seeks to end homelessness by providing affordable homes, along with the help needed to permanently break the cycle of homelessness.
The Trust provides structures, but it is the residents who transform them into homes and communities. Whether it is cooking a Thanksgiving feast or holding the door for another resident, the residents’ generosity and neighborliness breathe life into the buildings.
While Trust residents are united by their experience of overcoming homelessness, they come from every walk of life and background. Housing is provided for: the disabled, artists, older adults, counselors, veterans, chefs, gardeners, young adults, transgendered persons, and clergy. During any given year 1,700 men and women will call a Trust building home, with over 80% of those residents staying for more than one year.
The Trust develops, manages and operates Permanent Supportive Housing for formerly homeless individuals in the Los Angeles area. The Trust’s Permanent Supportive Housing also provides a complete range of support services necessary to move beyond poverty, illness and addiction. For more information about the Skid Row Housing Trust, visit their website at: www.skidrow.org

SONG SELECTION Spring 2014: Earth, Tin, and Fire
Sunday, January 12 at 3pm-‐6pm Sunday, January 19 at 3pm-‐6pm
Sue Fink’s Home
We are looking for songs that relate to the elements of earth, wind, (air,) and fire. Water is already covered in the first half. The songs do not have to be literal interpretations of the elements. Air could be heaven. Earth could be about saving the planet or a beautiful place.
Want to help out? 1. Find new songs (Search the internet, review programs from other choirs, contact your old choir buddies.)
2. Find a recording of the piece you’d like to submit and burn it onto a CD (Hint: YouTube can be a great resource.)
3. Make at least 10 copies of the sheet music. (This is so the singers at the song selection can follow and sing along.)
4. Submit the recording and sheet music to Dan at least 3-‐4 days before the song selection so he can get it copied and queued.
