Your child’s grades and report cards are only accessible through the use of Pow-
erSchool. If you have not picked up your PowerSchool Portal information and set
up your account on a computer at home, you will NOT have access to your child’s
report cards throughout the school year.
This year, teachers will be able to send messages through PowerSchool as well,
much like Remind. Please stop by the Main Office to pick up your PowerSchool
information or get help setting up your account. Once you set up your Parent
Portal on a computer, you can download the PowerSchool app to your Apple or
Android phone to receive updates and check your child’s progress.
When to Keep Your Child at Home
Schools bring children into close physical contact, thus giving communi-
cable diseases an opportunity to spread quickly. The Michigan Depart-
ment of Health recommends that students remain home with any of
the following symptoms:
Fever over 101 degrees
Undiagnosed rash
Vomiting
More than one episode of diarrhea in a two hour period
Anytime you feel your child will be contagious to others.
Parking Lot Etiquette
This is a common theme with any elementary, middle or high school around the country: Morning Drop
Off and Afternoon Pick Up. There are funny videos on social media, jokes on late night talk shows, and
blogs by frustrated moms and dads from around the country.
Some common things to remember about Drop Off and Pick Up times:
We ALL want our kids to be safe!
Everyone is in a hurry to head to after school appointment/sports/
activities/lessons
Park only in designated spaces. Diagonal lines indicate a NO PARKING area.
Do NOT have your child cut through the parking lot without an adult to meet at your vehicle. The are
still growing and not always visible to drivers and buses.
Pack your patience! The way you act or react during drop off or pick up times sets an example for
your child’s behavior.
This etiquette also applies to the church parking lot who has graciously allowed us to utilize the extra
parking spaces for drop off and pick up. Remember, we all have the same goal: Child Safety!
Parties Outside of School
Many times throughout the school year, students wish to hold special event parties at their
home or another location outside of school.
Invitations to non-school parties can only be distributed at school when ei-
ther all of the ‘boys’, all of the ‘girls’, or ALL of the students in the entire
class are invited. If you are not inviting all boys, all girls or all classroom stu-
dents, invitations cannot be distributed at school.
Likewise, when all are not invited, we recommend that you ask your students not to discuss
outside gatherings that involve a select group of students. We want to avoid any situation
where students may feel left-out and get their feelings hurt by the exclusion.
Advance Notice is Appreciated!!
If you know in advance, please let the office know. If your child is going to be absent, late, needs to leave early or is going home with a friend and you know a day in advance, e-mail the teacher and the office.

Recess
Inside or
Outside?
Above 20° F Recess is helo outside
From 15-20° F Wind consitions will determine
Below 15°F Inside recess
If temperatures are between 15-20°, the wind chill factor will be considered. It is
important that children dress appropriately: boots, hats, gloves and/or mittens
and a warm coat.
All students are expected to participate in recess. Fresh air, physical play and ex-
ercise helps develop fitness and in important to children’s ability to focus during
learning times. Generally, if a child is well enough to attend school, he/she is well
enough to go outside for a short recess period to take a break and get some fresh
air.
Extended time inside from recess requires a doctor’s note recommending that a
student remain inside.
