Short Story Anlysis my boyhood dreams by Mark Twain

Mark twain in this short story in 1900 actually told about his dreams after his family

death. Mark Twain was born on November 30, 1835 in the small river town of Florida,

Missouri, just 200 miles from Indian Territory. The sixth child of John Marshall Clemens and

Jane Lampton, Twain lived in Florida, Missouri until the age of four, at which time his family

relocated to Hannibal in hopes of improving their living situation. By lineage, Twain was a

Southerner, as both his parents' families hailed from Virginia. The slaveholding community

of Hannibal, a river town with a population of 2000, provided a mix of rugged frontier life

and the Southern tradition, a lifestyle that influenced Twain's later writings, including the

Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Few black slaves actually resided in Hannibal, and the small

farms on the delta were no comparison to the typical Southern plantation. In Hannibal, blacks

were mostly held as household servants rather than field workers, but were still under the

obligations of slavery. Although he began writing during the romantic era, the writing of

Mark Twain samuel L. Clemens) is considered, realist. Mark Twain was known around the

world as a humorist; while he was alive he gave lectures and speeches worldwide. He's one of

the first persons known to have worldwide fame. He had rockstar status, worldwide, long

before there was such a thing as rockstars.

As well as In his another short story Mark twain gave a moral aspect such as a

principal statement, in the first part of this short story he stated that The dreamer's valuation

of a thing lost--not another man's--is the only standard to measure it by, and his grief for it

makes it large and great and fine, and is worthy of our reverence in all cases, this quotation

tells about a personal principal statement that must be keep up. This is one of his clue to

anyone who wants to reach their dreams, however he lost his boyhood dreams.

Part by part he mention his friends, such us Dreyfus, Howells, Hay, Aldrich,

Matthews, Stockton, Cable, Remus, they all are his friends, friends to reach boyhood dreams.

Mark Twain used repetition question word to define his boyhood dreams. He just mention

that where and what his boyhood dreams gone? He believe that it is all has gone. He furtherly

all his friend dreams gone, such us in this part Look at Brander Matthews. He wanted to be a

cowboy. What is he to-day? Nothing but a professor in a university. Will he ever be a

cowboy? It is hardly conceivable. Look at Stockton. What was Stockton's young dream? He

hoped to be a barkeeper. See where he has landed. Is it better with Cable? What was Cable's

young dream? To be ring-master in the circus, and swell around and crack the whip. What is

he to-day? Nothing but a theologian and novelist. And Uncle Remus--what was his young

dream? To be a buccaneer. Look at him now.

Mark Twain has a wrote style in every his master piece, some of his books (Following

the Equator, etc.) were written like travel logs. Some more of his books (The Adventures of

Tom Sawyer, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Roughing It, Life On The Mississippi, etc.)

were written like historical fiction; yet, they were actually quite autobiographical, and this

one my boyhood dreams has that characters.

All in all in this short story, mark twain is trying to explain that everyone include

himself has boyhood dreams, mostly the want to be such they like or love, but struggling time

by time must be stopped by ages. After the death of the spirit of the dreams goal, they all aregone and keep in our heart such a sweet memory.
