Give it All AwayMark 10:17-31
One day a man came to Jesus and asked him, “What should I do to have eternal life?” Why do you think he asked that? Do you think people wonder what will happen to them after they die? Do you think this man was wondering about that? Jesus reminded the man that he needed to follow God’s commandments: •don’t kill•don’t take someone else’s husband or wife•don’t steal•don’t lie about anyone•don’t cheat
• treat your mom and dad with respectDo those rules seem easy or hard to keep? What do you think the man said?The man told Jesus, “Teacher, I’ve always kept those rules.” Then Jesus said something that was more difficult. He told the man, “There’s just one more thing you have to do. Sell everything you have, give it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come follow me.” Wow! Does that seem easy or hard? What would you do if Jesus said that to you? What do you think the man did?The Bible says that the man was very sad, because he had a lot of possessions. Think about all the stuff you have. All your clothes and furniture and toys. Most of us really like our stuff. Most of us have more stuff than we need. What do you think WE should do? What would Jesus say to US?
