SEVENTH GENERATION IS PROUD TO SPONSOR
THE LAKE CHAMPLAIN MARITIME FESTIVAL
2014 BAND BIOGRAPHIES
AARON FLINN’S Salad Days’ music is true. When you hear someone who is meant to make music perform, the impact is certain and powerful. This is the experience that comes with listening to Aaron Flinn (solo or with his band Salad Days). The music is meant to be and anyone who takes the time to hear it will be stronger for it. Aaron Flinn plays anything he can get his hands on and writes, engineers, records and performs most of the material that you’ll hear. Aaron also loves hitting the studio or stage with a long list of incredibly talented characters: poets, prophets, beats,
bastards, wizards, fairies, family and friends. Elements of folk, indie rock and classic pop combine with powerful vocals, poetic lyrics and finger picking guitar. An eclectic group of rock and folk rock songs, with an emphasis on lyrical substance and performance from the soul, Aaron began playing and writing in high school. He won numerous competitions in performance and writing throughout his time at UVM and Berklee College of Music (where he graduated Magna Cum Laude). He has gone onto release an impressive body of original work, all the while touring such hallowed venues as Red Rocks Amphitheater, The Great American Music Hall and many House of Blues and working with the likes of The Samples, Gov’t Mule, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Don McLean and Tragically Hip. www.aaronflinn.com
THE GREGORY DOUGLASS BAND: Douglass’ evocative, al-ternative sound blends “Rufus Wainwright´s opulent musi-cality and Justin Timberlake´s accessible soulfulness,” ac-cording to OUT Magazine. His recent spotlight on NPR’s “Morning Edition” has coined him “one of New England’s best-kept secrets.” Douglass has shared the stage with art-ists like They Might Be Giants, Shawn Colvin, The Weep-ies, Jason Mraz, Regina Spektor, and Margaret Cho. Dou-glass’ 2009 release BATTLER features duets with friends and fellow Vermonters Grace Potter (Grace Potter & The

Nocturnals/ Hollywood Records) and Anais Mitchell (Righ-teous Babe Records), and he is currently touring in sup-port of his latest release, LUCID, a dream-themed con-cept album, and ode to Kate Bush. Gregory Douglass is an internationally renowned independent musician with eight critically acclaimed albums under his belt. Douglass has sold over 75,000 songs digitally on his own and his videos have amounted to over 600,000 views on Youtube alone. His music videos have charted numerous times on MTV Network’s LOGO TV. Douglass was a finalist in the 2011 Mountain Stage NewSong Competition and won Yobi.tv’s “New Stage” competition, an original web series starring Jersey Shore’s Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. www.gregorydouglass.com
THE DUPONT BROTHERS: Two brothers reunite after years of geographical separation by a fortified collaboration in music. Blending the contemplative winters of the northeast with the solitary beauty of southwestern desert, Sam and Zack DuPont are now coconspirators in a shared passion that runs deep in their family. This Burlington Vermont made duo has hit the ground running since the formation of the group in March of 2013. The brothers have recently shared the stage with Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Ben
Sollee, Gin Wigmore, Chris Thomas King, Langhorne Slim, Howie Day and The Lone Bellow to name a few. Lush finger-style guitar work is complimented by elegant prose and a vocal blend that could only be matched by blood relation. www.dupontbrothersmusic.com
ONE PROJECT FEATURING MIKE COLBOURN AND TIM DAVIS is an acoustic/electric duo playing a mix of original and somewhat obscure covers in an alt-country rock and pop vibe.
JOHN FRIES: Highly influenced by musical talents like Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Albert King, Martin Sexton and the Black Crowes, John Fries is a self-taught guitarist and singer-songwriter. John was born in Yonkers, NY in 1973 into a very musical family where music was always a large part of the family dynamic. John
started playing guitar in the early 90’s and developed a love for the blues almost instantly.
He moved to Connecticut in 1994 and has since worked throughout New England with a variety of bands, from Blues and R&B to Funk and Rock & Roll. John’s passion for music combined with an extensive variety of live & session work facilitated the creation of “John Fries & The Heat” – a blend of Singer-songwriter, Blues, and Roots Rock & Roll. http://johnfriesmusic.com
STEVE HARTMANN is a Vermont based singer-songwriter Steve Hartmann has performed each year at the LCMF since its inception 7 years ago, and he returns once again but in a new fashion – with a full band! This will be his first appearance with a full band in almost 10 years, since the days of his former band, Simon. Steve will be joined by violinist Jane Kittredge, violist Sophie Jane, drummer Trevor Jewitt, and bassist Jesse Cowan. ALS AUCTION
The ALS Silent Auction takes place at
the Lake Champlain Maritime Music
Festival each year with one key goal in
mind; to raise fundamental funds that will
directly benefit individuals living with ALS
as well as crucial research. Now in it’s 4th
year at the Maritime Music festival, the
ALS Silent Auction has raised thousands
of dollars that directly impact The ALS
Association Northern New England Chapter.
Visitors are encouraged stop and talk with
Deb wehrlin, a key supporter of The ALS
Association as well as the founder of The
ALS silent Auction! Because of the hard
work and dedication of everyone involved,
and all those who take part in the auction,
we are able to continue our important work.
• All silent auction proceeds raised will
benefit the VT Walk to Defeat ALS
• The VT ALS Walk will take place at the
Dorset Park location in South Burlington
VT on Sunday, September 21st, Rain or
Shine. To register, please visit: web.alsa.
org/vermont. All are welcome!
• On September 20th at Killington, VT, Heidi
Smith and her team will again participate
in The Spartan Race. Spartan Racers to
Conquer ALS raises awareness, funds, and
is a great way to test yourself in memory
of Heidi’s husband, Frank. To register,
please visit: web.alsa.org/spartanracers
• Please contact Amy Coyne, Fundraising
and Community Relations, at 603-
226-8855 or [email protected], for
questions, comments, or volunteering
opportunities.
Stop by starting between Thursday, August
7 (1:00 pm) and Sunday August 10 (by
6:00pm) to make a bid or feel free to call
Deb Wehrlin at 802.238.6989. Just look for
our Banners in the concession area!
Located throughout FestivalThe Mission of The ALS Association is clear: To lead the fight to treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy, while also empowering people with Lou Gehrig’s Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.

LAKE CHAMPLAIN FESTIVAL Presented by:18
Saturday, August 9: Celebrate Lake Champlain and the Burlington Waterfront with the Lake Champlain
Community Sailing Center!
Celebrate outdoor recreation and support the responsible use and long-term stewardship of Lake Champlain on Saturday, August 9th at the sixth annual Stand Up for the Lake Festival. Held on the Burlington Waterfront in partnership with the 2014 Lake Champlain Maritime Festival, Stand Up for the Lake benefits the Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center (CSC) – a community-based non-profit organization that provides lake access to over 5,000 people each year regardless of age, ability or income.
Last year, Stand Up for the Lake raised nearly $18,000 to benefit the Community Sailing Center and support their WAVES (Water, Access, Vitality, Education and Stewardship) Initiative that aims to educate youth, adults and families about
how human actions impact the health of Lake Champlain by incorporating lake ecology and stewardship into every program offered by the CSC.
This year’s event hopes to raise $25,000 to continue educating the community about protecting one of Vermont’s most vital resources and supporting the Community Sailing Center’s 6,000 friends that are introduced to the WAVES Initiative each year.
“We are extremely fortunate to work with the Lake Champlain Maritime Festival for Stand Up for the Lake to showcase everything the Lake has to offer our community and how we can give back to this amazing resource by being its voice and promoting responsible stewardship,” says Russ Scully, Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center Board Member and founder of Stand Up for the Lake.
A surf-style festival that promotes wellness, fitness and lake
stewardship through stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), Stand Up for the Lake encourages families and outdoor enthusiasts to paddle the shore of Burlington’s downtown waterfront. From 11:00am until 5:00pm, listen to live music, enjoy local food and participate in a variety of activities including demos, clinics, a three-mile recreational race and six-mile elite, World Paddle Association (WPA) sanctioned race on the Lake.
Tickets are available for purchase via phone by calling (802) 864-2499 or online at www.StandUpForTheLake.com. For more information about the Community Sailing Center, please visit www.CommunitySailingCenter.org. Stand Up for the Lake is sponsored by: The Spot, WND & WVS, Outdoor Gear Exchange, Paddlesurf Champlain, Umiak Outfitters, Select Design, Maui Jim, Fox 44, Independent Radio the Point, and the Burlington Free Press.
