Type: Corporate

ObjectiveSpotify is a public company that relies on its listeners for sourcing music and feedback to grow. They have numerous social outlets in which they interact with their listeners. So when creating a new headquarters the exisitng community DQGVLWHLGHQWLWLHVZHUHLQÀXHQWLDOWRWKHGHVLJQWRVXSSRUWWKHcompany’s image.

ContentionDrawing upon these facts, the Spotify headquarters is presented with the opportunity to incorporate the exisiting culture in a way that can only strengthen the company and its SUHVHQFH7KHQHZKHDGTXDUWHUVDQGVLWHZLOODFWDVD¿OWHUin which to create engagement between the private side of the company and the public community by emphasizing their common ground; love of music.

LocationThe location of the new headquarters sits on a prominent site situated within Dumbo’s Tobacco Warehouse, along the expanding Brooklyn Bridge Park. This area is culturally vibrant and affords Spotify a unique opportunity to tap into an existing pool of local talent and a creative community. Additionally, the warehouse site as it exists now, provides a dynamic space that plays host to cultural, community, and music events.

Design To signify this merging through music, a large public theater will break through the existing wall at the front of the site, facing the park and waterfront. This will provide a main point of interaction for the company and the public through the hosting of concerts, while also serving as a meeting space for large corporate events. The theater level denotes the semi-public area, with the highly public level below and SULYDWHRI¿FHVDERYH
