We are responsible for supporting all Non-Navy/Marine Corps Intranet Commands and Deployed Units.Scope of Mission

The ChallengeThe MCNOSC needed to create a highly available, easily recoverable, manageable failover solution for an alternate command center

Previously managed 12 physical Exchange 5.5 Directory Synchronization Servers, 10 Active Directory Root servers, 8 various application and monitoring servers Needed to move all data to alternate site in as near to real time as possible Wanted to break the “hardware” tie down associated with most conventional data replication modelsAlso needed to shorten deployment cycles of new servers for application services

The SolutionThe MCNOSC implemented VMware GSX Server 3.2 hosting a large number of services provide by MCNOSC, tied into a NetApp FAS 980 ISCSI attached storage solution for all VMware flat files

Currently utilizing 20 GSX Server 3.2 server hosts, 10 at main site and 10 at alternate site.Utilizing 2 VirtualCenter Servers, 1 main and 1 alternateCan allocate new development servers quickly
