COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL APPROACHES

• Addresses criminal thinking• Three elements of Thinking for a Change:

– Cognitive self change (thoughts and feelings)– Social skills (behaviors/body language/verbal)– Problem solving skills (decision making)

• Starts in custody/cooperation with Sheriff• Provided in three locations out of custody

(nights and Saturdays)• Staff, CBOs and Recovery Coaches have

also been trained in T4C as facilitators

EMPLOYMENT• Collaborative effort with HHS• Developed relations with business

community• Union training/work (construction)• Three week program (tuition, tools)• Lifetime free training with the Union• Positive peer relationships/self esteem• Economic security / addresses idle time
