Marilyn Moore
Marilyn Moore, soprano, has been highly praised by international critics and is rapidly
emerging as one of today’s versatile interpreters in opera, oratorio and concert repertory.
Her career has taken her to the world’s great opera houses and concert halls – from
Carnegie Hall to the Kennedy Center. Her operatic appearances include engagements
with The New York City Opera, Michigan Opera Theater, The Teatro Municipal in Rio de
Janeiro (Brazil), The Philadelphia Opera Company and Opera Ebony. Orchestral engage-
ments include performances with The National Symphony, The Charlotte Symphony, The
Piedmont Triad Symphony, The Ohio Valley Symphony and the Philadelphia (Philly) Pops
Orchestra with Peter Nero.
Equally committed to the oratorio, chamber music and song recital literature, Ms. Moore
revels in a richly varied repertoire that includes solo appearances with The Choral Arts
Society of Philadelphia, Princeton Pro Musica, The New York Choral Society, The Cathedral
Choral Society of Washington, D.C., The American Repertory Ballet Company, The
Philadelphia Singers and the Oratorio Society of Charlotte (North Carolina). Recent en-
gagements includes performances with The Alexandria Symphony, a recital presented by
the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Steinway Series as soloist in a concert version
of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess with the Shanghai Broadcasting Orchestra as part of The
Beijing Music Festival in Shanghai and Beijing (China), Mozart’s Grand Mass in C Minor,
at the Chartres Cathedral in France, Dvorak’s Te Deum with The New York Choral Society
at Carnegie Hall and Orff’s Carmina Burana with The Charlotte Symphony and The North
Carolina Dance Theater. Last year Ms. Moore sang a performance and radio broadcast
of Jack Heggie's The Deepest Desire for soprano, flute and piano.
Ms. Moore is a native of Brunswick, Georgia where she began her musical journey. She
is a graduate of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey with advanced studies
at Temple University and The Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She
is the recipient of numerous awards, which include prizes in the Metropolitan Opera Eastern
Regional Auditions and The Pavarotti Vocal Competition. Ms. Moore is on the voice faculty
at The Levine School of Music in Washington, D.C. and Delaware State University.
