Marden Update Volume 1 February - March 2020 There is a great feel about the college at present now that the 2020 academic year is successfully underway. This week is all about students becoming familiar with their subject/course requirements, teachers, and peers, as well as how our purposeful adult learning environment works. The purpose of this message is to inform parents and students of activities and events happening over the next six weeks, please see the calendar at the end of this update. Some key information is highlighted below. Student Information In the week commencing 10 February all students will be attending an information session on Tuesday, meeting their mentors on Thursday, and Year 11 students will be participating in a Road Awareness and Accident Prevention Program (RAAP) on Wednesday. Nominations will soon be called for students interested in student leadership to be part of the 2020 Student Government Association (SGA). Parent Information Parents are invited to a session being held on Thursday 20 February from 5pm. This is an opportunity to learn more about arrangements for this year and to meet your child’s teachers. Student attendance and progress information is available online to parents via Daymap Connect Parents will be informed of the teacher mentor allocated to their child via email early next week. Mentors are primarily arranged for students who undertake the majority of their studies at Marden and are under 21. Nominations will soon be called for parents interested in being a member of the 2020 Marden Senior College Governing Council. Further information and nomination details here.
