XI-XII CenturySarnano was founded around 1200 when a lordship called “Brunforte” occupied the territory.XVII – XVIII Century After Sarnano was absorbed by the State of the Church until the annexation of the Marches to the Kingdom of Italy.

Nowadays – Currently the main activity in Sarnano is tourism in both summer and winter.

The most important Church is “Santa Maria” located in the main square called “Piazza Alta”.The patron Saint of Sarnano city is Santa Maria Assunta.

Of the Middle Age, Sarnano preserve almost intact the core of the historical center. The brick is the predominant and characteristic element of the town, and the ancient village was built only with such material.

The municipal library of Sarnano, which became public in 1868, was born as a Franciscan library and it was origined in XIV century.Inside there are the historical archives, recently reorganized, lots of administrative acts of the municipality and old documents date back to XI century.

The arms collection includes swords, knives, bayonets, hunting knives, short and long arms, medieval armor, hammers, rifles and pistols.Some of these come from the Middle Age and other from the battles of World War I and II.

Sarnano is located in the heart of the Sibillini Mountains. Sibillini Mountains are the mountain chain located beetween Marche and Umbria Region.Around the town there are beautiful hills and fields.
