~ MESSAGE FROM MRS KENNAUGH ~ March is Reading Month is in full swing here at Beagle!Author Alan St. Jean conducted writing workshops with every
Beagle student this week, two classes at a time. Students andstaff enjoyed the visit because it built excitement for reading
and writing and was entertaining as well! Thank you to our
PTO for paying for his visit!
Thank you for supporting our Time for Kids fundraiser by
filling out postcards that will be sent to family and friends.Doing this fundraiser each year significantly decreases our
Time for Kids costs and allows us to have multiple copies ofthis monthly, non-fiction text for each grade. If you have notyet turned in postcards, there is still time! Please send them to
school with your child ASAP. Thank you!
Our food drive begins on Monday with Protein & PeanutButter day and continues with the following: TuesdayToiletPaper; WednesdayGift cards or checks to GLEAP;
ThursdayPasta and Rice; FridayRaid the Pantry. I hopethat our Beagle students and staff will contribute to this cause
and help those in our community who are in need.

Sixth Grade Talent Show is Monday, March25
that 7:00 PM in the cafeteria. An all-school
assembly is being offered on Tuesday, March 26th
at 9:00 AM in the cafeteria for the whole school to watch.
Spring Swim Program 2013March 16 th- May 18 thNo classes March 30
th- April 6th for spring break.
These classes run on Saturdays for eightweeks. Childr
must be 5yrs old.9:00- 9:30a.m. Parent & Tot- Starfish (2-5yr old)
9:30-10:00a.m. Parent & Tot- Guppies (2-5yr oldshould take starfish first.10:00-10:45a.m. Pre level I, Levels I & IV
10:45-11:30a.m. Level II, Level III & Private
11:30-12:15p.m. Level I, Levels IV & V
12:15- 1:00p.m. Level II, Level III, Level VI,Springboard Diving
Cost- $40.00 for each child in regular lessons, $50.00
for Pre-Level I or Diving, and $36.00 for Parent & TotPrivate $20.00 for 45min, or $18.00 for 30 min.

A big THANK YOU to everyone that visited the Spring Book
Fair. This is a great fundraiser for the library and it was a big
success! We look forward to filling the library with the books
your children love to read. Mrs. Jordan-Thelen
POP CAN TAB COLLECTIONS Emma Rodeman, a 6th grader at Beagle,has been selected as a Student Ambassador
for People to People Ambassador Program
and will be traveling to England and Francethis summer to represent our community
and our country. As part of being an ambassador they must
participate in a service project. Their delegation has chosen, aspart of their service project, to collect pop can tabs to be
donated to Ronald McDonald House. She will be collectingthese through April 19th. There will be a collection container in
the office for these. Students may also give them to theirteachers to be added to the collection. Thank you all for your
support!!!!

March 18-22, 2013
Monday, 3/18 Protein & Peanut Butter
Canned meats such as chicken, fish, ham, etc.
Peanut Butter is a favorite pantry item!!
Tuesday, 3/19 Toilet PaperThis is one of the most needed items for the Food Bank.
Wednesday, 3/20 Cold Hard, Cash or Gift Card
(Or a check made out to GLEAP, the Grand Ledge Assistance
Program)
Thursday, 3/21 Pasta & Rice
Also, sauces and canned vegetables to make complete dishes.
Friday, 3/22 Raid the Pantry:
Bring in canned fruits, condiments, or any other non-perishable
food you can think of. Other stuff like diapers, toothpaste,deodorant, etc. is also welcome they distribute hygiene
products too.
GRASP SUMMERSCHOOL
(Grand Rapids Academic Summer Programs)
Are you looking for a summer school opportunity for
yourchild?GRASP is an academic correspondenceprogram in readingand mathematics for grades K-8. Itis a cost-efficient substitute fortraditional summer
school. The program helps students retain skillslearnedduring the school year. We are offering this program to
Beagle students. Over the summer, your child
completes materials and sends them in for scoring.The lessons should take your child approximately onehour per week to complete each weekly lesson.
Look for order forms in your students Fridayfolder.
Return forms and fees by April 12, 2013 All materials will be sent home with the child
the last week of school.

RELAY FOR LIFE
Beagle Elementary is selling
adorable t-shirts and sweatshirts(hoodies) for Relay for Life.Beagle Rockers Walking for a Cure can be
purchased in grey or purple. Look for order forms inthis weeks Friday Folders. They are also selling foot
prints for $1.00 each, with a goal of making them go
around the whole building! Look for Mrs. Haskell in tcafeteria during your lunch hour if you would like topurchase one. Watch the newsletter for more Relay for
Life information.
