Social Support Individual Program

Page 4 March Newsletter 2020 balwynevergreen.org.au

If you need some support to remain socially active in the community, our Social Support volunteers can help to engage with you and assist you in remaining self-sufficient.

Our volunteers are very friendly and more than happy to have a chat and a cuppa if you’re feeling isolated, helping you to reconnect or remain connected with the wider community. They can also give you a daily call and keep in touch.

For many people, pets are the most important companion in their lives. However, illness or frailty can make caring for pets too difficult to manage alone. Our Social Support Individual program helps frail older people and people with disa-bilities to care for their animal companions at home.

Regular exercise helps keep your pets happy and healthy. If illness, injury or other changes in circumstances prevents you from walking your dog, a SSI volunteer can help.

Light Home and Garden Care

On top of mowing, cleaning gutters or trimming hedges, our gardeners will be able to assist with many light home maintenance.

This includes tasks such as:

Window Cleaning

Replacing smoke alarm batteries

Replacing tap washers

Connecting sprinkler systems

Any other small home repairs

We can accompany you to things like :
