At 26,795 ft (8,167 metres) it is the seventh highest in the world. It is possible to make a complete circuit of the mountain. Walking is moderate on the southern and eastern sides, but is much more demanding on the western and northern sides, which involves negotiating large glaciers and crossing two high passes.The talk describes the approach from the south and then the route through the wild uninhabited country to the west and north of Dhaulagiri, before finally descending over 6,000 ft into the valley on the eastern side.” Friday 24th March 2017 at 7.15 pm “A Walk Around Dhaulagiri” Slide-Illustrated Talk by Peter Hartrey There will be light refreshments and a raffle. The event is free but there will be a plate for donations towards Village Hall funds. If you are intending to come, please phone Jan Firth on 474469, with numbers in your party for seating and catering purposes. There will be a Spring Barn Dance at the Village Hall on Friday 31 March, starting at 7.30. Richard and Anne Abrahall will once again be “on stage” and, as last year, you are invited to bring your own drinks. A pie and pea supper will be provided during the interval and also a raffle. The Library Theatre Touring Company from Leeds will be performing two dramatic monologues from Alan Bennett’s acclaimed BBC-series ‘Talking Heads.’ Deborah Kelly will play the lead role in both plays.A Lady of Letters........... Miss Ruddock’s civil liberties are dear to her, and writing letters is how she likes to assert those rights. One of these missives pushes her to the brink, with unexpected but liberating consequences.Bed Among the Lentils............Susan, an alcoholic, nervous vicar’s wife who has to travel into Leeds to go to the off-licence because of her debts with the local shop keeper, distracts herself from her ambitious and, as she sees him, vainly insensitive husband and his doting parishioners by conducting an affair with a nearby grocer, Ramesh, discovering something about herself and God in the process

VACANCY - PARISH COUNCIL CLERK

AISLABY, MIDDLETON AND WRELTON PARISH COUNCIL Extract from the Draft minutes of the January 24th meeting of the Parish Council.Present; Cllrs Peirson (Chairman), Cooke, Firth, Pickering, Quinlan, Wrench, and Wilson Also present S Brown (Clerk) and 2 members of the public5. Planning (and related items) c) The Council noted that the telephone boxes scheduled for possible decommissioning have been reprieved by British Telecom. No formal response has been received following the communication by the Clerk to RDC but public notification by Legal Notice in the Gazette & Herald of those boxes for decommissioning excludes village boxes8. General Maintenance:-a)The Council received information for maintenance where no outcome has been noted previously;-Road drain on Goshun Road requiring cleaning out new reference number 101003672274 resultant from resident query – Drain cleaned/jetted 15/11/16 Cllr Quinlan to review- Misalignment of road surface on A170 at Wrelton eastern turning to village which can cause vehicles to appear to be flashing other vehicles to turn causing confusion – Reported that the junction has not been recorded as a collision cluster and site be reviewed within the next allocated funding for surface schemes.- Back Lane, Wrelton right of way – Case to be sent to Secretary of State in 2017 as reported in previous minutes – the Clerk was requested to confirm the correct information is being forwarded by County to the Secretary of State by 31 March 2017 and request a copy for Council- Footpath – eastern side of Main Street in Wrelton, tarmac covering degenerated to the point of wheel chair manoeuvrability impaired. - order for remedial repairs raised.- Footpath between Aislaby and Middleton north side is severely overgrown NYCC paths reference 52089 –No action at present- Street light Manor Garth Main Street Wrelton- intermittent fault – reported 6 Dec 2016 completed- White lines on junction give way line old road old A170 Cliff Road and Main Street, Wrelton - order has been issued to the contractor to have the junction markings refreshed

Theatre Melrose Scotland to The Quay Sudbury Suffolk to The Ammanford Theatre Wales - and now in Wrelton!
