NEW MEXICO’S TOP VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS San Juan College
Freshmen, dual credit and transfer students are accepted. Degree and certificate career programs are offered.
Occupational safety, health information technology, nursing, medical laboratory technology and fire science are among
the degree programs. Many of the career degrees are administered through the School of Trades and Technology.
Classes sizes are small. There are no minimum SAT or ACT admission scores. The college also does not have application
deadlines.

Central New Mexico Community College
Subjects that two-year vocational degrees are offered in at Central New Mexico Community College are applied
technologies, communication, humanities, sciences, engineering and healthcare. Prerequisites may be required to enroll
in certain vocational programs that lead to an associates degree. Mandatory general education courses built into
Associate of Applied Science degrees include math, human relations, writing and computer literacy.

Eastern New Mexico University- Roswell Campus
Eastern New Mexico University - Roswell Campus has a wide variety of two-year career-oriented programs under the
headers of health, business & science and career & technical education. In the health programs, students can choose
from several common two-year programs like nursing, child development, occupational therapy assistant and
radiographic technology. Career and technical education focuses on more specific job skills like the two-year program in
automotive technology. Business and science allows students to gain associate degrees in topics like accounting.

New Mexico Junior College
New Mexico Junior College offers an associate of applied science, which focuses on more vocational programs. These
are geared for students who are planning to enter the workforce after obtaining their associate degree. The associate in
applied science covers several areas that are geared for getting students started in direct careers like nursing, welding,
cosmetology and constructional technology. Many of these degrees will allows students to sit for licensing exams upon
completion of their courses. These programs focus on a few general education courses, and then most of the

students may stop by the counseling office for an Accuplacer form. The Accuplacer is a test that measures student
competency in Math, Writing, and Reading. Once taking the test your counselors will help you read your test scores!

The Samsung American Legion Scholarship Program is open to high school juniors who are direct descendants of U.S.

The 1-800-Wheelchair Scholarship Fund is available to high school and undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited
college or university in the U.S. You must be at least 16 years old and a legal resident of the U.S. or hold a valid student

ACF ANDREW PIECH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Andrew Piech Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Paula and Gerald Piech to memorialize their son,
Andrew. The fund assists students in the field of automotive technology and related applied technologies. One or more

BETH GANN SCHOLARSHIP

This $750 scholarship is available only to young women of Lea County who rank in the top 25% of their class, are
graduating from high school this May and will be attending an accredited junior college or university in the fall of this

BMW/SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP
DEADLINE: March 15, 2020
This annual scholarship is provided by BMW AG in recognition of its commitment to excellence in engineering. BMW is
world famous for designing and building luxury, high-performance passenger cars and motorcycles. The company is also
a leader in developing and manufacturing high technology, high performance internal combustion engines.

COOKE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Applicants for the Cooke College Scholarship Program must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Senior standing – Plan to graduate from a U.S. high school in spring 2020.
Fall College Enrollment – Intend to enroll in an accredited four-year college beginning in fall 2020.
GPA – Earn a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above.
Test Scores – Receive a minimum SAT total of 1200 or ACT composite of 26.
Income – Demonstrate unmet financial need. We will consider applicants with family income up to $95,000. Last
year’s cohort of new College Scholarship recipients had a median family income of approximately $26,000.

University of Houston.
Scholarship recipient must have a GPA following the standards set by the College of Education
Scholarship Selection Committee.
Scholarship recipient may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with the Chris and
Helen Smith Incoming Freshman Scholarship.
Funds can be used to cover expenses for tuition, books, fees, and supplies for the coming academic
semester. The student must bear any costs of a recipient over the amount deposited.
DANIEL D. KOLESKE SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP
DEADLINE: MAY 1, 2020
A $3,000 for one academic year at the college of your choice scholarship is open to any student who is graduation from
a high school in 2020 in the New Mexico area (New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arizona, and the portion of Texas in the
Mountain Time zone). The student must have completed one additional science course beyond what is required for
graduation, and be planning to major in a physical science or engineering field in college. The web-based application

DEVON ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP
The four-year Devon Achievement Scholarship is awarded to a graduating Eddy or Lea County high school senior who
has participated in the New Mexico Mathematics, Engineering and Science Achievement program for at least three

DIRK DERRICK CAR &TRUCK ACCIDENT INJURY SCHOLARSHIP
DEADLINE: December 15, 2020
The Dirk Derrick Car & Truck Accident Injury Scholarship is an award for any current or soon-to-be undergraduate
student in the United States who has had his or her life altered due to an injury from a car or truck accident, be it their
own injury, that of a loved one, or an influential individual. Students applying must submit an essay where you explain,
present, inspire, or otherwise convince us as to why you deserve to win this scholarship. There are no conditions or
outside requirements for this essay. Please keep submissions to 5 paragraphs and 600 words at the absolute maximum.

ESTACADO FEDERAL CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP
DEADLINE: May 11, 2020
One non-renewable scholarship is available in the amount of $500.00. This will be subject to confirmation that the
requirements of grade point and enrollment have been met.
Eligibility
Graduating high school seniors must have a minimum 3.00 G.P.A
Lovington High School Senior to graduate in May 2020.
Applicants must provide a copy of their most recent transcript.
Applicant must be of good character as evidence by at least one letter of recommendation. The letter must be
from a teacher, principal, counselor, etc.
Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of funds available and the applicant’s eligibility.
Applications must be received by Lovington Municipal Schools and Estacado Federal Credit Union no later than
May 11, 2020.
Student must be either an EFCU member or child of EFCU member.
Recipients
Recipient must maintain full-time enrollment status at the college or university of their choice.
Recipient must furnish an official schedule from the college of choice and demonstrate a willingness to pursue a
course of higher learning.
Scholarship is payable to school and the student must provide information for payment by 12/31/20. Stop by

HACER NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

HOWARD R. STROUP SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship provides $500 tuition at New Mexico State University, for two consecutive semester during the
recipient’s freshman year.
1. Applications should be completed and returned no later than March 16, 2020 to: H.R. Stroup Scholarship
Committee, NMSU ASC-Artesia, 67 E. Four Dinkus Rd., Artesia, NM 88210 or emailed to [email protected]
2. Applicant must be a high school senior in Chavez, Eddy or Lea County or a member of FFA District 5.
3. Recipient must enroll as a full-time student at New Mexico State University in the College of Agricultural
Consumer & Environmental Sciences, or at one of the NMSU Branch Colleges.
4. The scholarship will provide $500 per semester of the freshman year; however, to receive the scholarship during
the second semester, the student must have at least a 2.5 grade point average at the end of the first semester.

JACK & IRMA LEE ADUDDELL WILDCAT SCHOLARSHIP FUND
DEADLINE: April 24, 2020
A one-time $500 scholarship will be awarded to graduating seniors that participate in some form of sports their senior
year of high school. These sports include football, basketball, baseball, track, cheer, soccer, volleyball, swim, marching
band, or other activities that LHS designates as athletic. The student must display leadership skills and have been
involved with some community activities such as church attendance, club member, work history, city clean up, etc. The
student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA average at graduation, submit a copy of their transcript, 200-word essay, and
resume.
LEA COUNTY FARM AND LIVESTOCK BUREAU
The senior students of Lea county are eligible to apply for this scholarship in the amount of $2,000 to be divided in
amounts of $1,000 at the beginning of each semester for their freshmen year. Your parents must be a member of the
Farm Bureau. Stop by the counseling office for your application!
LEACO SCHOLARSHIP
DEADLINE: April 3, 2020
This opportunity is open to anyone who is a high school senior; the parent/guardian is a customer of Leaco in good
standing and who will be enrolled in higher education with at least 12 credits in the fall. You will find more information
in the counseling office. Stop by for your application!
LOVINGTON MASONIC LODGE
DEADLINE: April 1, 2020
Any senior is eligible to apply. At least one scholarship in the amount of $1000.00 will be awarded. If additional students
apply, all will be considered and multiple scholarships may be awarded, funds permitting.
Preference may be given to students who have a tie to the Masonic fraternity through a relative, so that information
should be included in the student's letter of application. The following are required: A letter to Lovington Lodge #46 AF
& AM from the student, applying for the scholarship and outlining briefly his or her educational goals; two letters of
recommendation from teachers, counselor or other educator familiar with the student's school work and character; a

NEW MEXICO FRESHMAN ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

NEW MEXICO MANUFACTURED HOUSING ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
DEADLINE: March 16, 2020
This fund was established in 1996 by the NM Manufactured Housing Association to provide scholarship awards to New
Mexico, graduating high school seniors residing in a manufactured home. Applicant must live in a mobile/manufactured
home, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, attend a two or 4-year non-profit public educational institution full-time, and write

The New Mexico Scholars Scholarship encourages N.M. high school graduates to enroll in college full-time at a public or

Eligibility criteria
Arizona residents and non-residents (including WUE students).
Selection: The IB diploma is awarded to students who earn at least 24 points, subject to certain minimum levels
of performance across the whole program, and to satisfactory participation in the creativity, action, and service
requirements. The maximum a Diploma Program student can earn is 45 points.
Multiple awards: This award can be combined with other tuition scholarships as long as it does not exceed the
cost of tuition.

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES OF THE SOUTWEST SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship program of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of the Southwest is patterned after the “RMHC
Scholars” program- with one important difference. In order to more, closely align the scholarship program with our local
Chapter’s exclusive focus on children’s health, we have added an additional criteria item, which is as follows:
RMHC of the Southwest’s scholarships will be awarded to applicants who have either:
1. Had a serious childhood illness or injury
2. Had a sibling who had a serious childhood illness or injury which impacted the family.
Applicants must submit the following:
1. RMHC Scholars application (www.RMHCsouthwest.com)
2. A narrative which includes information about the illness and how it has impacted the applicant and
his/her family (include information about use of a Ronald McDonald House® or Ronald McDonald Family
Room® if applicable).
STUDENT VIEW SCHOLARSHIP
DEADLINE: April 22, 2020
The 2020 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering $12,000 worth of scholarship to high school seniors who plan to
attend a four-year college, community/junior College or career school. The program includes:
One $5,000
Two $1,000
Ten $500

Merit Scholarships
Merit scholarships are our most commonly awarded scholarships. Undergraduate Admission determines eligibility for
these awards based on high school GPA and test scores, and all students who apply for admission to DU are
automatically considered. Award amounts range from $12,000 to $26,000 annually and are available for up to 12
quarters (excluding summer quarters). Merit scholarship amounts are fixed, meaning, if awarded, you will receive the

UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO
Western Undergraduate Exchange Scholarship
The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is an award for qualified new, first-time freshmen and transfer students
pursuing their first bachelor’s degree who meet the specific criteria listed below. WUE students pay 150 percent of
Idaho in-state tuition and fees and are not charged out-of-state tuition. WUE value for the 2019-20 academic year is
$15,084. That is more than $60,000 in value over the course of four years!
If you are:
A new, first-time freshman admitted to the University of Idaho
Pursuing your first bachelor's degree
A resident of a WUE participating state
Then you are automatically eligible to receive the WUE award when filling out an application for admission.
There is no separate application for the WUE award.
This award will be available to you for a total of four years by maintaining continuous enrollment and a 2.5 cumulative U
of I GPA.
There is no deadline to complete the admission application and be considered for this WUE award.

UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA
The Woods Family Scholars Program.
Currently ten new first-year students each year receive the scholarship. These new students join other Wood Scholars in
a close-knit community — one marked by excellence, exploration, and a spirit of mutual camaraderie and support.
1. Scholarship (currently $7,000 per year, renewable for four years)
2. Exclusive access to special events;
3. Networking and career workshops;
4. Speaker series with speakers on business, leadership, and career advice – leaders in fields from business to
public service
5. Special dinners throughout their Carolina careers, often including members of the Wood and Cole families
6. Two book selections per semester of powerful, influential books representing “timeless wisdom” followed by in-
depth book discussions;
7. Service opportunities;
8. Individual meetings with program director to develop plans for personal / career goals;
9. Opportunities to collaborate with other leadership and development programs on campus – NC Fellows,
Carolina Leadership, Covenant Scholars, and Achieve Scholars;
10. Assessments like Myers-Briggs, a 360 Review, Strengths Quest, and a Self-Directed Search, followed with group
discussion and optional individual interpretation sessions.
11. Mentor-mentee program
Based on survey responses indicating interests, all incoming scholars are individually matched with an
older scholar who will serve as their mentor throughout the mentees’ academic career.
Mentors meet with their mentees at least once a month and help to navigate Carolina, serve as a
resource, and provide support in numerous ways.

YOUTH IN FOSTER CARE

In the New Mexico foster care system for a minimum of one year
Between the ages of 17 and 21 at the time of initial application
An undergraduate college student
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 for high school OR
Have completed a GED program OR
Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA in college
