MARCH 29, 2020
2
All four of our Churches will be open for Eucharistic Adoration this Sunday, March
29, from 9:00 am to 12:00 Noon. Those who come for private prayer are asked to
maintain social distancing. Mass can be live-streamed on our Grouping website at
a touch of a button. Our Alpha Program volunteers are using a teleconferencing approach to
keep small group faith discussions going. Lou Reda can provide details.
Please see my very important letter about our finances during this coronavirus pandemic.

PROJECT “PANDEMIC PEN PALS for PARISH GROUPING 218”
These are extraordinary times. Sometimes we feel helpless. But there is always something we
can do. So here is what we are doing...We have recruited volunteers representing our entire
Grouping including members of our Pastoral Council, Worship Committee, Ladies of Charity ,
Christian Mothers, Women’s Guild, Men’s Club, Lectors, Ministers of Holy Communion, Prayer
Groups, School and CCD parents to help with “Project Pandemic Pen Pals for Parish Grouping
218.” We have approximately 60+ members who are residing in 28 assisted living facilities or nurs-
ing centers. The Coronavirus pandemic has caused elderly Church members to be truly “shut-in.”
They are allowed no visitors and they cannot leave; even contact with others within the facilities
is limited. The goal of “Project Pandemic Pen Pals” is for every single Church member, whom we
know is living in a residential facility, to have, at the very least, one person sending weekly cards
and notes. We’ve had such an amazing response. Anyone interested in helping with “Project
Pandemic Pen Pals” can write us at [email protected].
“Our help is in the Name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
Please note— The pierogi & kielbasa sale and pick up that was scheduled for April 8th has been postponed.
If you placed an order, you will be contacted by the chair people.
We’ve all been impacted by the Coronavirus outbreak and its affect on our daily routines, i.e. at-
tending Mass, going to school, playing sports, going to work, the Diocese has suspended youth
ministry gatherings planned (at least until April 19th). Therefore, all of our Youth Group meetings
are cancelled at this time.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

Please know that our clergy and staff continue to actively serve our parish grouping during the Corona cri-
sis. Although public Masses have been cancelled, our priests each offer their private Masses daily for the
special and general intentions of our faith community. Our staff remains in touch with the diocese to stay
current on the latest guidance. We are also arranging whatever sacramental and devotional services we
can and keeping our facilities in good working order.
We support the public health directives from all levels of our civil government in planning for and conduct-
ing our religious services and other programs. Our parishioners continue to be our strength in sharing
God's word and love despite the challenges we may face for the near future. You can help by continuing
to pray for the spiritual and physical health of our communities and to financially support our parish group-
ing.
Due to Mass cancellations, donations have dwindled but we continue to rely on parishioners' generosity to
fund our parish grouping. The Corona crisis has financially strained many people due to temporary busi-
ness closures and quarantining. We understand that and ask only that you donate what you can, however
you can. For example, your usual envelope donations would be ideal or you could simply donate what
you might have spent at one of our Fish Fry's.
Here are the details for some ways you can donate now:
· Mail in your weekly collection envelopes (we're still processing mail as usual):
. Nativity Church, 5811 Curry Rd., Pittsburgh 15236
. St. Gabriel Church, 5200 Greenridge Dr., Pittsburgh 15236
. St. Germaine Church, 7003 Baptist Rd., Bethel Park 15102
. St. Valentine Church, 2710 Ohio St., Bethel Park 15102
· Create an automatic "bill-pay" if your bank has online banking. The bank sends a check directly from
your account to the church you choose. There are no additional fees to process your payment. All you
need is the church address.
· Parishioners of Nativity or St. Valentine Churches have the additional option to donate online by visit-
ing their websites for details ( http://nativitysouthpark.org/ - top right of page, click "Donate Now" or
https://www.stvals.org - scroll to bottom left of homepage, click "Donate" )
May God bless and keep you safe. I look forward to seeing you all in the pews soon.
Gratefully in Christ,
Fr. John Skirtich, Administrator
