    LENTEN CRAB CAKE

    FUNDRAISER

In lieu of fish fries as a parish activity and fund-

raiser this Lenten season, Our Knights of Columbus

Council has volunteered to host a Captain Chucky’s

    crab cake sale.

Order forms are at the rear of each worship site

with instructions for payment and pick up. Orders

must be placed by noon on Monday, March 23.

All profits will be used to help overcome the lost

snow-Sunday offertory and to defray the recent high

    utility bills.

Thanks for your order and support.

    PENNY MISSION NEWS

The Penny Mission is still going strong in our parish.

Since 1997, when the Mission started, we have col-

    lected $12,504 in donated pennies.

Thank you to all of our faithful penny savers.

Some of the recipients were: Darfur, Sudan, Niger,

and Uganda, Haiti, Dominican Republic, India, In-

    donesia and Mongolia.

Funds have also supported the Mission projects of

our own Rosary Lady, Libby James, and Father

    John’s Missionhurst Order.

New containers have been placed in the back of each

worship site. Feel free to take a can home and fill it

    with your leftover pennies.

Once the can is full, return it to the back of one of the

worship sites or to the Rectory.

Thank you for supporting our Penny Mission and

may God bless you for your concern and willingness

to share with the poor in our world.

If you have any questions concerning this project

please call Jean Moulder at 610-857-2740.

    CAFÉ LENTEN STUDY BEGINS

    MARCH 4

We are all looking forward to Spring, especially af-

ter this cold and snowy winter. So too should we be

yearning to celebrate the glorious feast of our Lord's

    Resurrection at Easter.

In order to prepare more fully for our Church's ho-

liest of days, we invite you to join us on Tuesday

evenings for a faith-sharing Lenten Study.

We will meet weekly from 7:00-8:00pm in the

Schneider Parish Center, through April 8.

At these meetings we will read and discuss the

Scripture passages for the upcoming Sunday Litugy.

The study book suggests ways to grow closer to

Jesus during the week, and those who are comforta-

ble doing so can share their progress on these efforts

    at the next meeting.

Due to the enthusiastic response to these studies in

the past, we are planning to meet in two of the class-

rooms on the lower level of the SPC.

If you would like to join us, please send a message

to [email protected] or call Sue Brown

at 610-857-2026. The cost of the class is only $10.

    and includes a daily devotional

book in addition to the study book.

    REDISCOVER THE LOVE IN YOUR

    MARRIAGE!

The Retrouvaille Marriage Program offers help for

struggling marriages. It gives you the chance to re-

    discover yourself and your spouse.

Tens of thousands of couples headed for divorce

have successfully saved their marriages by attending

a Retrouvaille weekend and the six post sessions

    that follow it.

Retrouvaille is not just a social gathering or series of

seminars, but rather a way to rediscover and rekin-

dle the loving relationship in your marriage.

The next program begins on the weekend of April

25-27 at the Family Life Center in Malvern, Pa.

For more information, or to register for our upcom-

ing weekend, visit our web site at

    www.HelpOurMarriage.com or call 1-800-470-

2230. All inquiries are kept strictly confidential.

    ZUMBA

Come join the fun at Zumba class on Monday nights

    from 6:30-7:30pm.

It’s easy to learn and fun for all ages!

All of the profit goes to benefit the Early Learning

    Center.

So get some exercise...have fun...and help out!

Every 2nd Monday of the month class will be held

one half hour earlier, from 6:00-7:00 pm.

    ST. JOSEPH’S PREPARATORY

    SCHOOL

We were recently informed that John Edelman, a

parishioner and a student at St. Joseph’s Preparatory

School has been listed on the Academic Honor Roll

for the first semester of the 2013-2014 academic

    year.

Every man shall give as he is able, according to

the blessing of the LORD your God which He has

    given you." —Deuteronomy 16:17

Following God in any area of your life brings

change. When you begin to handle your money the

way God outlines in more than 800 Scriptures,

you'll be on your way to changing your family tree

    forever.

Dumping debt and saving toward wealth will do

that. But here's something we need to keep in mind.

There's no room for selfishness in a heart full of

    gratitude!

Giving is an expression that flows out of a grateful

heart. It's honoring God with what He's blessed us

with. It's displaying the love of Jesus, plain and

    simple.

Remember His response when James and John

asked to be seated next to Him in heaven?

    Pray for others

Pray by name for people you don’t like and for

    people who don’t like you.

Pray for those ,e.g., children, parents, spouse, sib-

lings, who have left the church.

Pray for people whose hardships are reported daily

    on the news.

Pray for deceased family and friends.

“Prayer and fasting are good, but better than either

is almsgiving accompanied by righteousness ... It is

better to give alms than to store up gold; for alms-

giving saves one from death and expiates every sin.

Those who regularly give alms shall enjoy a full

    life" (Tobit 12:8-9).

ALMSGIVING: In the past we have always

provided opportunities for almsgiving during Lent

by taking a Second Collection for Operation Rice

Bowl through which we have funded programs that

fed the hungry and provided for other human needs

of the poor. Since we have sworn off Second Col-

lections this year, we will be providing 5% of our

Offertory collection during Lent to fund these pro-

grams. Therefore, you are encouraged to increase

your Lenten Offertory by 5% as well to allow us to

fulfill this Gospel mandate to give alms, “through

which there is forgiveness of sin”.
