Catherine Gordon was nominated by parent Terry Wood
and student Kendall Wood. The nomination stated “As the
parent of a junior in high school, Ms. Gordan is a gem. Not
only is she a great teacher (according to Kendall), but she
also keeps the parents informed of class happenings as
well. Kendall has been blessed to have her as his physical
science as well as Biology teacher and I couldn't be
happier. Not only does she teach them-she LOVES them
and they know it. When a teacher takes the time to hand
write a note to all of her students at the end of the
semester that say a lot. THS is blessed to have her!!!”
Kendall Wood stated in his nomination that “Ms. Gordan
is a good teacher who loves her students and Oreos.”

Dawn Manship. The nominations stated, “It is my
honor to nominate Faith Mangum for the Dunn
Chamber Golden Apple Award. Mrs. Mangum serves
as our Instructional Coach, which means she has the
special privilege of working closely with our teachers
and our students. Her passion for education and our
students is obvious in everything she does, from
leading our school’s weekly professional learning
communities to working with students in small
groups in the classroom. She is truly a cheerleader for
our school, staff, and students, always bringing a
positive attitude to everything she does and never
giving up in her determination to make a difference in
the lives of our students. Mrs. Mangum is a vital part
of our Wayne Avenue staff and we are proud to call
her a Bulldog.”
