Want To Save Your Money?
There is a program under the umbrella of MassHealth called the Health Safety Net (HSN) which is available to uninsured or underinsured MA residents whose income is up to $37,470 for an individual or $50,730 for a couple. This program will pay for hospital charges and services performed in acute care hospitals and community health centers. Who might benefit from this plan? People who are on HMO or PPO plans and have co-pays for services such as hospital stays and/or any testing can get these charges paid for under the HSN. Also individuals under this plan can get help getting prescription medications at community health centers or hospital outpatient pharmacies at a reduced cost. The HSN does not cover services and doctor’s visits provided by private companies. It also does not cover care received in a nursing home or rehab facility.

Do You Need Prescription Advantage?
Prescription Advantage is the Massachusetts state-sponsored prescription drug assistance program for seniors
and people with disabilities. It acts as a supplement to your Part D plan or Medicare Advantage Plan and helps with the
costs of your drugs when you hit the “donut hole”. Your co-pays during that period depend on the income category you
qualify for but can range from $7 for a generic drug and no more than $30 for a brand name drug. Membership in
Prescription Advantage also provides members with a special enrollment period once per year to change plans outside of
the Medicare open enrollment period which is October 15th through December 7th.
If you are having difficulty paying for your prescription medications, please call and make an appointment so we
can discuss your specific situation and hopefully find you some help.
Rep. Mindy Domb Thurs, March 12
11:00—12:00
Outreach Services The Granby Outreach Program provides free consultation, referrals, and
assistance for seniors who are in need on Wed and Thurs from 9-3. To get help applying for benefit programs, services, and more, please call our office. This

Is Your Number Up?
The "Is Your Number up" program is a TRIAD/SALT initiative that provides high visibility house
number signs for residents. The signs help emergency responders locate your home quickly.
The green signs with reflective numbers are installed by police officers. The suggested donation for one of the signs is $10. Sign up at the COA or
call us at 467-3239.
Granby TRIAD Safe Entry Program
This is a program in which seniors have a small combination lock box installed on the exterior of their home that holds a key to their house. The location of the lock box and
the combination are on file at the Granby Police Department. When an emergency occurs at your residence, the dispatcher can inform police, fire, or ambulance
responders of the code so they can quickly enter your home to provide emergency assistance. It also prevents the responders from having to damage the lock or door to
gain entry. The program is of no cost to the public, although donations
are appreciated.

Monthly Feature from the Fire Department: Kitchen Safety
Hello everyone and welcome to the first official safety tips piece for the COA newsletter. This month I wanted to start with something close to me and that is kitchen safety. There are some simple, little tips to remember to keep yourself safe. 1) When cooking, keep the handles of pots and pans turned inward to avoid accidentally hitting and spilling the contents. 2) It is helpful to set a timer when cooking to prevent forgetting something on the stove and burning food. 3) If you are cleaning the kitchen, only bring out one cleaning chemical at a time. This prevents the possibility of mixing them and causing a reaction that will make you sick. 4) Don’t leave towels, paper or other easily ignitable material near the stove when cooking. It could start a fire. If you have any questions or are looking to have a firefighter come by and look around your kitchen for safety items, please feel free to contact the fire station at (413) 467-9696. STAY SAFE!!!
