From The President

Brothers in arms, reenactors and friends, please lend me your ears!

This year is going to be challenging—there is no way around that. Last year’s Board has added three new events to our calendar. This will entail a lot of work, but I believe it will be most rewarding. I strongly believe that you get out what you put into something. We have been working on restoring this club to the six or seven event schedule we have had in years past. By increasing our list of NCWA-sponsored events, we will enlarge our participation base. Making wise economic decisions will allow us to put energy into things that will make these events more enjoyable. I very much look forward to the day we can restore the early enlistment bonus and hold an off-season ball. In order to achieve these goals, all our actions must be as budget friendly as possible. I look forward to seeing all of you on the battlefield again very soon!

Sincerely, Jon Nickerson-Tremayne President

Union Brigade News

My fellow members of the Union Brigade,

The new season is coming up and I am expecting a good year. We have some new events this year at some new venues that are very promising. Let’s focus on building our companies’ memberships so we can have the best events we've had in a long time. Also, gets your safety tests done and turned in to your company commander. I am hoping that this year goes by without any injuries. Thank you.

Confederate Brigade News

People, we should be doing something other than sleeping or BS-ing with each other in camp. There are many other things solders would be doing in their free time. You could read or write letters, cook, clean your guns, shave, or repair clothing—just a few of the things that you can do in camp when the public is present. This could make the public ask questions, and that is why you are there. Something to think about. Col. Glenn Johnson Army of Northern Virginia

From The Mayor’s Desk

Hello, Everyone! I trust we have all had a nice, relaxing Winter break, with all of those pesky “off-season” projects wrapped up so that we are all set for the upcoming 2019 event season. Yeah—me neither… But ready or not, we are quickly approaching what is shaping up to be a busy and fun-filled year. We have an exciting schedule ahead of us with both returning favorite event sites and interesting new events planned. Let’s all support those who have worked so hard planning these events and put forth our best effort to turn up for as many events as possible! I would ask that our incredibly active Civilian Corps members kindly let me ([email protected]), Debra Johnson, Vice-mayor

([email protected]) or Susan Pfiefer, Town Clerk ([email protected]) know in advance that you will be attending an event and camping in Town with us. Everyone is welcome, but we would like to know you will be joining us! (And if any members of the military would also like to join us in town, you are welcome as well!) It would also be helpful if everyone could get their paperwork (both membership and safety tests) filled out and ready before you arrive at your first event. This will help speed things up so that we can all enjoy more time reenacting, and less time processing paperwork. Thanks for your help with this necessary procedure. I am looking forward to another great year and hope to see everyone soon! Lynne Ashby Mayor
