NEW STAFF MEMBERYou may know Rebecca Dunbar from her days in the Hub as the Student Services Officer but she has now joined the Williams Building crew as the new Senior Student Systems Officer. If you are in Animal Science, please speak to Rebecca about program advice and support. Emmica Schlobohm will continue to advise students in the Veterinary program.

Q-FEVERQ-Fever is an infectious disease and the School has guidelines around Q-Fever vaccinations. It states that:Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Bioscience) students must be vaccinated against Q-Fever (unless initial skin test indicates pre-existing immunity).

Bachelor of Science (Animal Science) students are strongly advised to vaccinate against Q-Fever (unless initial skin test indicates pre-existing immunity).

For all new Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Bioscience) students you must be vaccinated by the last day of the first teaching period of their veterinary studies.

Please visit the SAVS guidelines for vaccinations document.

VaccinationStudents must organise and pay for their own vaccinations. There are numerous Approved Q Fever Vaccination Providers available https://www.qfever.org/. The School has identified some local providers (Information Sheet - Q Fever Providers).

Showing EvidenceIt is the student’s responsibility to provide evidence that they have been vaccinated against Q-Fever. Students must upload a copy of their Q-Fever Card or other evidence to Sonia. Click here for instructions.

Pig ClubThe Adelaide Uni Pig Club is a special interest group based on the Roseworthy campus. Our goal is to provide our members with an education in pig handling, and in the pig industry. We hold regular sessions with industry and animal professionals to help members to go beyond their university education and to build networks for the future, such as lunch and learn sessions and dissection workshops. Through Pig Club you will also be given the opportunity to attend and volunteer at events outside of regular University opportunities like the Royal Adelaide Show. On top of our educational events you will also get heaps of chances to get to know the other members at our social events like a movie night and Pig Club dinner.

Possibly the best feature of Pig Club is our own shelter on campus where we house a handful of pigs every year to be handled and raised by our members! (And, even better, you can take selfies with them!)

A 'must join' club for any Roseworthy students hoping to gain animal handling or industry experience, or even if you just want to visit the pigs at the end of a stressful day!

To join Pig Club find us at Roseworthy O'Night or contact us at [email protected].
