  • President’s Message by Don Tomasulo

I am thrilled to welcome Ray Tugend as our new GM. You will love Ray’s energy and ideas for growing membership and improving our LCC experience. We will have a ‘Meet the New GM’ mixer as soon as Ray settles in a bit.

Everyone on the Lancaster team has been amazing during the transition. This month I would love to recognize our executive chef Emanuel “Manny” Figueroa and his team. They have really upped their game in the kitchen and things have been excellent, especially our Thursday Buffet nights. Jenn Loncz and the front of the house team have been working hard to keep the dining room humming and provide you with excellent service.

The best thing you can do for the club is use it, and enjoying a March brunch is a great start. Take advantage of our regular Sunday Brunch March 4 and 11. It’s the Ladies Love Lancaster Brunch March 18. The annual Brunch with the Bunny takes place March 25.

The days are staying light longer which means we will be on the golf course any day now. Get out and play when you can and bring a friend and let them enjoy the Lancaster experience with you.

    News from the Golf Shop

The snow is gone and it appears we are trending to possibly some early golf again this season. Let’s hope the weather will cooper-ate. In this newsletter you will see information on Women’s League, Men’s League, Buyers Club and Season Cart Pass. If you would like the season cart pass to be broken up over three months, you must notify me in the golf shop by March 31, 2018. The

sales tax must be charged in full for the first payment, but the price of the pass will be spread over the months. Any questions, please contact Lisa Buseck in the accounting office.

Buyers Club is back for the 2018 season. The buyers club gives you 10% above our wholesale cost on any merchandise in the shop or special orders. If you plan on purchasing clothing, clubs or equipment this season, ask us how much you could save being in the club.

Again we will be offering personal push/pull cart storage in addition to your bag storage. The fee for storing your personal cart

will be $65 for the season. This includes cleaning after your round of any mud or grass on the tires. The service will follow bag storage opening and closing dates. Space is limited, so register early! Speaking of which, you can email, call me in the golf shop or mail in the attached forms to register for any of the opportunities listed above.

    See you at the Club!

    Grounds Update by Gary Powers

Greens With a mild February, all the snow has melted off the entire course. So far greens have come out of winter in great shape. The only concern going forward will be how many freeze/thaw cycles we go through be-fore we maintain temperatures above freezing. The mild temperatures will allow Poa annua to break dormancy, which can set you up for injury due to crown hydration. We will be proactive when we start to see any accumulating snowfalls start to melt off on greens. The biggest concern will be when we have free standing water on them and the temperature starts to make a drastic change below freezing. I will keep you posted throughout March as to when we will be opening up greens and the course for play.

Drainage The photo above is the 18” drainage pipe that runs from the driving range through 1, 11, and 4. This section of pipe was approxi-mately 30 feet from the exits point on 4. The willow trees down on four found their way into the pipe and completely encompassed the entire pipe. The root system inside the pipe was seven feet long which caused all the problems we had down on four and elev-en the last few years. I am confident that we have solved the problem and conditions on 4 and 11 will be much improved this year. Hopefully the weather will break in March so we can all enjoy an early start to the golf season.
