1099R Forms If you received a monetary benefit from the ERS in 2016 (except for Duty Disability benefits, because this benefit is neither taxable, nor reportable to the IRS), you should have received your 1099R form for 2016. If you haven’t, please contact the pension office so we can mail a new form to you. You will need this form for filing your income tax return for 2016. Do not wait until the last minute. Replacement forms for 2016 will be issued free-of-charge through April 18, 2017. Any requests for replacements received after that date and all requests for replacement forms for previous years will be filled only upon receipt of a $15.00 processing fee per form.

No Address Changes By Phone The post office will NOT forward your pension check or direct deposit notification. You must notify our office in writing of address changes. This is for your protection. We don’t want your information going to someone else. There are three ways to change your address: 1) Download a change of address form from our website: www.cmers.com. NOTE: If you log on to the ERS Member Self-Service by creating a user name and password, you can submit the address change to the ERS electronically. 2) Call the ERS office at (414) 286-3557 or 1-800-815-8418 and we will be glad to mail a change of address form to you. 3) On letter-sized paper, print your name, old address, new address, social security or payee ID number and sign. Please let us know if the change is temporary or permanent and the effective date of the change. Mail your address change to: 789 N. Water St., Suite 300, Milwaukee WI 53202.

Stars and Stripes Honor Flight If you are or know of a World War II, Korean War or terminally ill veteran from any era, please contact Stars and Stripes Honor Flight at www.starsandstripeshonorflight.org or call 262-238-7740 to fly with other veterans to Washington DC to see your memorial. If unable to fly, there will be a special Tour of Honor in Milwaukee on Saturday, July 15. It will be local and a shorter day for veterans who can’t travel, but still have the magic of an Honor Flight without a flight. IMPORTANT DATES: April 4 – Spring Election Day April 14 – Office Closed for Good Friday

APRIL 2017 PENSION PAYMENTS: Payments will be mailed Thursday, April 27th and are payable

Friday, April 28th. Direct deposits will be posted to your account Friday, April 28th. Processing affidavits for lost March checks will start on Monday,

April 10th.

The MRA Celebrates 58 Years of Service

The Milwaukee Retiree Association, Inc. was founded in 1959 by retirees concerned about protecting and improving their Pensions and other Benefits. This valuable work continues today. MRA membership is open to all retirees and their spouses who receive a pension from ERS. Join the MRA and attend their luncheon/membership meetings, receive informative newsletters to learn what is happening to your pension, health insurance, Social Security, Medicare, and more.
