MARCH SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS
Thank you to our Sunday School kids, teachers, and parents for decorating all those Valentine cookies. We received lots of smiles when we delivered them to the Barrett Care Center and Rolling Hills Residence! We are in the midst of wrapping up our Noah’s Ark rotation and will begin Jonah and the Big Fish on March 22nd. Thank you to Diane Puchalski in Cooking and Linda Buchite in Games for giving ONE HOUR in March. On Sunday, March 15th, our Community Service Project is de-livering muffins to our area Group Homes and the home-bound. If you know of anyone who would like a visit from our Sunday School kids, please give us a call! There will be no Sunday School on April 5th as we celebrate Easter. Our last rotation, Daniel and the Lions, will be held in May. If anyone can give ONE HOUR in our Cooking room on May 3rd, let us know. As always, everyone is welcome to visit our rooms and see what we are learning and how we learn. We are contemplating having a “Bring Your Parent” Sunday – read more about this later! illness and limitations for visitors allowed. Confirmation going well. The three older students are
on target to be confirmed and a total of 7 attending. Addition to release time. We have an even
larger number of children attending. This affirms that going with Palmer Bus was a positive
move. We have one committed volunteer that has agreed to help consistently and a great crew of
intermitted second helpers who all do a great job. Pastor would like to put together a Liturgy
committee to find themes during lent for musical selections. The term Liturgy means “Work of
the people”.

Stewardship of the Good News
There have been many times in my life
when words just don’t come; when the
sorrow, the anger, and the pain as well as
the joy, are so overwhelming that words
have failed me. And in those moments, the
Psalms have become my voice and my
prayer.
The Psalms are beautiful poetry. They’re
filled with the full scope of human
emotion, coming out of life situations of
abandonment, fear, sorrow, and
questioning. Don’t know about you, but
that sounds like my daily life. So from these
pages leap out words that become my own
prayers…
- Create in me a clean heart O God. (51)
- O Lord, the God of my salvation, I have
cried out by day and in the night before
you. Let my prayer come before you; incline
your ear to my cry! (88)
- I will lift my eyes to the mountains, from
where shall my help come? My help comes
from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
(121)
But from those same pages come words of
promise and comfort, words that renew me
and refresh me… - God is our refuge and
strength, a very present help in trouble. (46)
- For as high as the heavens are above the
heart, so great is his loving kindness to
those who fear [revere] him (103)
- My soul waits in silence for God only,
from him is my salvation. He only is my
rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I
shall not be greatly shaken. (62)
And when all is well, these pages offer
eloquent words when my simple “thank
you” doesn’t seem to fit the joy I feel…
- Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is
within me, bless his holy name! (103)
- O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, let
us shout joyfully to the rock of our salva-
tion! (95)
I encourage you to join me in reading these
prayers and songs this Lent, to discover
anew the richness of God’s word and how it
can speak directly to our lives. And, I would
love to hear your favorites!
God be gracious to us and bless us, and
cause his face to shine upon us! (67!)
Peace,
~Pr. Matthew
