Principal’s Message Dear Wolfpack Nation,
Welcome to March!! Spring sports are underway and our other activities are in full swing.
Spring brings with it the start of State testing for many of our students and graduation
becomes a much more tangible thing for our seniors. Oh, and along those lines – please
note there is no such thing as a school sponsored or accepted “senior skip day”. Seniors
will be having Exit Interviews March 17th, 18th and 19th. It is vital that all seniors
participate and pass the Exit Interview in order to graduate. If you have any questions
please contact Mrs. Susan Jones in our Career Center. Speaking of our seniors, they are to
be commended on the examples and tone they have set and continued through-out this
year. I can’t thank them enough!
State testing dates are approaching very rapidly. Make up HSPE testing is also March 17th
and 18th for those students who need another shot at the HSPE. The state has added some
new tests for us this year. We will be testing ALL Juniors in the area of English/Language
Arts, April 20th through the 24th in our Social studies and English classes. If your child is in
Running Start please have them contact Mr. Franklin at 709-7822 to arrange for their
testing. The state-mandated test for juniors in Math will be towards the end of May. If you
have any questions regarding the testing please give us a call so we can assist you and
answer your questions.
A quick reminder: We set our clocks forward 1 hour on Saturday night, March 7th, so please
help us get our students up on Monday and keep our tardies down. Along those lines, I
want to Thank You and your children for the reduced number of absences this year when
compared to the past. This is a big accomplishment and something we want to let you
know we appreciate, for as we know, without your support it is very hard to accomplish
much here at school.
Also in the “reminder” category: Spring Break is the week of April 6th and runs through April
10th; then we really don’t have that much time until the end of the year. I know sometimes
you hear people say they can’t wait till the end of the school year. This is not true for me!
We have an amazing student body and I love being able to interact with them weekly. The
thing I remind myself is that they do need to go out in the world and continue to grow and
make huge contributions to our society. I cannot wait to see what our students will
accomplish. Ok I am getting ahead of myself and this kind of talk is for the May Wolftracks.
As always, if you have any feedback, questions or ideas for the future, please contact me as
you’re a vital part of our school and its success.
Thanks for reading and have a Great Day!!
Sincerely,
Dave Myers

Emotional Creature: The Secret Life of Girls Around the World (Rated-PG13)

Placing their stories squarely center stage, it gives full expression to their secret voices and innermost thoughts, highlighting the diversity and commonality of the issues they face. EMOTIONAL CREATURE is a call, a reckoning, an education, an act of empowerment for girls, and an illumination for parents and for us all. Shows are March 26 and 27th at 7 pm in the Black Hills PAC. Admission is free, but donations to Olympia SafePlace will be gladly accepted.

Notes from the Health Room . . .
Health and safety for students and staff are priorities in the day to day business of school. Public
health in the school setting includes completed immunizations to minimize outbreaks of vaccine pre-
ventable disease. There are no new vaccine requirements for school at this level, but students and
staff are reminded to keep up with tetanus boosters (Tdap). Information for parents about HPV and
meningococcal vaccine are posted on the district web site. Students needing medications at school
and school sponsored activities are required to provide signed Authorization for Medication at School
forms. Emergency medications, including inhalers, insulin and epi-pens may be carried by the student
with current signed authorization from the parent and health care provider. First aid provides imme-
diate care, assessment and referral to primary care as needed. Symptoms of illness may be assessed
and managed appropriately in the Wellness Center or parents called for pick up. BHHS Wellness Cen-
ter is staffed by Larissa Murtaugh, Health Assistant, and Stephanie Robertson, RN. Please check the
district website for descriptions of Student Health Services (click on department tab) and links to
school health forms.
