Quality in every tube!All our tubes are of the highest quality look out for Nylon outers in 840 denier cloth and the vinyl bladders in 30 gauge, this is strong tough stuff.

In addition the quick connect system is standard on most of our tubes for quick and easy hook up of the tow rope.

RopesBear in mind that the rope that you use for water ski ropes is not designed with tubing in mind. Tow ropes, or tube ropes, are specifically designed with higher break strengths and less stretch than a standard water ski rope. Basically, a two person tube rope for a towable designed for two people, a four person tube rope for a four person towable and so on.

Note: Never pull a multi-rider towable with a rope that is not recommended for the size of the tube, regardless of the number of people you have on board.

Your tube rope should be a minimum of 50 ft in length and should not exceed 65 ft.

Tube ropes should have a loop at both ends for quick and convenient connection and never be tied to a towable or boat harness.

I was introduced to a small hamlet in Ceredigion called New Quay over 20 years ago.

My boating and toy history started off about 15 years ago with a small 3m Avon Rib (practically a tender) with tiller controlled throttle on a 9.5hp which we used to launch and retrieve every day from the beach.

Amazingly off the back of this little thing we towed an inflatable donut (ringo) using some basic rope (not the proper stuff and no bridle) we had won from somewhere.

From this little boat, in 2004 we went onto a 5m Sea Ray Bow Rider with a 3 litre 135hp inboard, which we towed the same donut behind and then we bought a Great Big Mable, which was effectively five seat sofa. Still using ad hoc rope.

Then around 2007 Boatworld came into our lives. Many toys followed, the spinning Lulu 2 aided by a Booster Ball, which helped keep the proper tow rope out of the water, creating drag. We also started using a proper towing bridle. The 5 man hot dog is also popular amongst the younger riders.

In 2012, I think, we got the Poparazzi which has been used to great effect behind our new boats the 6m Rinker bow rider with a 4.5 litre 225hp inboard and a 4.5m Valiant RIB with a 60hp outboard. Not to mention the heavier duty bridles we bought for both and the 10 safety helmets with Go Pro camera mounts. I have a video of this being towed for some 1.5 hours all over Cardigan Bay with three kids lying flat on the bottom of it and an adult standing and steering it. By far the most popular towable toy.

Last year we had the humongous 12 foot Fun Station bouncer. Using the turbo inflator we bought with it, still takes half an hour but very useful as a sunbathing platform, plus cooling off place for the kids. It also doubles as a temporary mooring pontoon for on and off boarding via the boats.

Stand up paddle is not a new sport, but it’s entry into the mainstream has been fairly recent.

Stand up paddle, paddle surfing, or SUP as its also known is great fun, relaxing, and an excellent core workout. SUP originated in Hawaii long ago we think and is known as “hoe he’e nalu” in Hawaiian.

Performance surf boards have traditionally been made from laminated

layers over foam cores. SUP boards are larger boards and the desire to travel with them has led to the development of an inflatable system where the board and pump can be carried in a back pack. The core material is called ‘drop stitch’. Thousands of locked nylon stitches keep the board at a specific thickness. Pressure from specially designed hand pumps can inflate a board to over 30psi.

Slalom Skis However when you start to Slalom ski, skiing on one ski at higher speeds,you require to have a much stiffer ski to cope,and as such RIM construction does not offer that performance.

All performance slalom skis are made with compression construction. Essentially a pre shaped foam blank of the ski with re-enforced inserts for mounting the bindings, is

wrapped in a glass fibre /carbon fibre/ “sock”.The ski is “wetted” out with an epoxy or GRP resin and

inserted into a heated mould which encapsulates the foam blank. Bindings for Slalom skis will be lace up boot

style bindings, either in a front/rear setup or a Front/RTP (rear toe plate). Fins will be alloy with the option to “tune” it by

adjustments up/down and front/rear.Sizes to choose 59”- 62” for Junior Ski, 63”-69” for Adult size - choice is

Combo Skis come as a of pair of skis, in varying lengths . In general they will be constructed by a RIM process (Reaction injection moulding).Essentially an expanding polymer is injected into a heated mould and the polymer expands to fit the combo ski shape. James Ballantyne - "I'm riding this journey to raise money for Myeloma UK, a fantastic charity that supports those who are diagnosed with this form of cancer and of course their families. My heart goes out to everyone and I'm doing this for you. I've been involved in waterborne sports since I was 8 and to involve what is such a big part of my life in with this charity will be such an honour and a massive personal achievement as well. The last time I did something like this was when I was 15, sailing around Lundy Island for Childrens Hospice South West, however this time conditions will be far different than those experienced before. Colin, who is one of my fellow jetskiing companions will also be on this memorable journey and I look forward to reflecting on this with him in years to come.
