Congratulations to Daniel
Folkers, Christian Eckhoff,
and Gabby Kissell for making
it to the finals of the Custer
County Spelling Bee, and to
Christian for winning, the
event qualifying him for the
State Spelling Bee. GOOD
JOB!
I also would like to recog-
nize and thank the members of
the Wrestling and Basketball
teams for representing the
Twin Loup Wolves and Sar-
gent Public Schools. I appreci-
ate the efforts of our athletes
and would also like to thank
the coaches for the long days,
late nights, and all the family
time they give up to work with
our student athletes.
We strive for perfection and
to win every match and game,
but don’t forget there are more
lessons to be learned. If you
base success solely on a win-
loss record, high school sports
would often be a thankless en-
deavor. It’s not until you look
back at the friendships, appre-
ciation for the game, individ-
ual growth, and experiencing
the commitment to a team that
you can see the other “part” of
what makes up a successful
season.
In addition to our athletic
teams, there are several other
activities going on at the
school. The FFA and FBLA
have been working on contests
and getting students ready for
their state conferences coming
up in early April. The Music
program has also been active
with the “PEP BAND” per-
forming at the last home bas-
ketball game as well as getting
ready for the upcoming
MNAC band clinic and con-
test. We have also had stu-
dents qualify for Honor Choirs
and Honor Bands this spring.
McKenzie and Bella partici-
pated in the Kearney High Un-
derclassman Honor Band, and
Isaac, Anne, Kylie, and Bella
were part of this year’s Wayne
State Honor Choir. The
Speech team has been gaining
momentum through the season
with several individuals plac-
ing at meets. Students that
have medaled so far include:
McKenzie, Shelby, Corri,
Abby, Bella, Carly, Natalie,
Karson, and Hunter G.
Many of the Jr/Sr High
classes use this “changeover”
time between seasons to push
hard before students are gone
for field trips, track meets,
speech, band, FFA and FBLA
contests. With students being
gone so often in the Spring,
please try to schedule wisely
and remember that we do not
have school on March 2nd, 6th
and 13th, so this would be a
good time to get trips and
appointments in. Be sure to
check the school bulletin and
the online calendar for up-
dates on events and activi-
ties. Something for the jun-
iors and their parents to keep
an eye on is the ACT exam
coming up on April 18th-
students should be registered
by March 13th. If you or
your child has any questions
about the ACT or wants to
sign up for an ACT review
course, please contact Mrs.
Schauda or myself.
Another topic you should
feel free to contact Mrs.
Schauda or me about is the
video on dating and absti-
nence thst will be shown in
the Junior High Health class.
Letters will be going out to
make sure all parents/
guardians with students in
these classes get the infor-
mation about the videos and
are informed about their
child’s participation. If you
want to know, more please
call the school.
With all of this going on
please be sure to remind
your son or daughter to stay
on top of their homework
and until next month GO
WOLVES!

We have had a couple busy weeks this month. The 2nd
of February was the start of March of Dimes Week. We had no school on Monday, Tuesday everyone wore purple, and Friday was hat day and we had our sun-dae in the face party. We had coin jars to collect money for March of Dimes, the two people with the most money on Friday won and had to get a sundae made on their face. The winners were, Mrs. Kari Danner, and Brayden Davis. We thank all who helped us raise $225.00 this year. We started FBLA week on February 9th with a kick-off day where members wore their FBLA t-shirts and had supper in Mrs. Osborn’s room during our meeting. On Tuesday we dressed for success. Then on Wednesday a few of our members taught the elementary kids about money and showed them how to use the new healthy snack vending machine. Thursday was our Have a Heart Food Drive, and Friday was the Business Apprecia-tion Breakfast which had a wonderful turnout. We ended FBLA week with the Sweetheart Dance on Satur-day. A raffle was held each day of FBLA week for a free item of choice from The Wolf Den. Students and staff could buy a $1 ticket to get their name in for the day of their choosing. Winners were Cindi Holmes, Joni Ritchie, Chyanne Leitschuck, Carsen Vincent, and Keaton Dowse.

State College to be a part of the
annual Honor Choir Festival.
Upon arrival they started rehears-
als with Dr. Danielle Warner, Di-
rector of Choral Activities at

then presented at a 4:00 PM con-
cert.
Students from Loup County were Larry Guest and Shyann
Worm. Sargent singers were Anne Hansen, Kylie Hansen, Isa-
bella Kissell, and Isaac Lovato.
March Music Activities
The Music Department will start the busy part of their season in March. The Sr.
High band students plus one Jr. High student will travel to Ansley on Monday,
March 23rd for the MNAC Band Clinic. Students will spend the day working
with a guest clinician and the other conference schools. A short concert will be
presented at 6:30 PM at Ansley.
This year a new activity has been added for our school musicians. This will be the first year for a conference contest. Students involved will travel to Anselmo-Merna on March 31st to compete in the MNAC Music Contest. This will be a good warm-up for students who participate in the District Music Contest in April.

ACT The ACT® is the most widely accepted college entrance exam in America. The test assesses high school stu-
dents' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The exam consists of
four multiple-choice tests covering: english, mathematics, reading, and science skill areas. Students may also
elect to take the new writing test which measures skills in planning and writing a short essay. To find out
more about the ACT® or to register for future tests students or their parents can check out several sites on the
internet including http://www.actstudent.org
To have the best opportunity we encourage students considering attending a four year college to take
the exam at least twice. We feel their best chance would to be to take it in the spring of their Junior year at
then again during the fall of their senior year. Students can register for this year’s spring ACT® coming up on
Saturday, April 18th 2015, the registration deadline is March 13th, 2015. I’d encourage them to prepare by
going over the review guides they were given, check out the online test review at http://
www.testprepreview.com , working with their teachers, and participating in the John Baylor online reviews.
I especially encourage you to check out the John Baylor site online at http://www.johnbaylortestprep.com/ It
has a wealth of ACT and college prep information available for free! I recommend looking at his blog for Jun-
iors in the lower right corner of the website.

9th and 10th Graders attend Ag/Construction Career Day
On February 12th, twelve of the 9th and 10th grade students from Sargent High School had the opportunity to attend the
Ag and Construction Career Day in Broken Bow. Mid Plains Community College, along with the CAPABLE program,
organized and hosted the event. Students had opportunities to tour agricultural businesses, construction businesses or
they could choose to tour a couple of businesses in both fields. Some of the companies that took time to share about
their business and the skills needed to pursue a career in these fields were Adams Land and Cattle, Cunningham Ag
LLC, Designer Homes, Holcomb Mechanical, Myers Construction Co., Plains Equipment Group, Thomas Livestock
Co., Todd Jonas(Master Electrician), and Trotter Fertilizer. The students heard a lot of information about the skills
needed to obtain jobs in these fields. They also were able to see the job opportunities available to them right here in cen-
tral Nebraska. All the businesses were very encouraging and the students heard many times that they should pursue their
education after high school, whether it be a trade school, two year school, four year school, or more. All the businesses
said they wanted them to come back and pursue the great career opportunities they have close to home.
Here are comments some of the students made about what they liked best at the career day:
“Talking to Chad at Plains Equipment about his job as a AMS consultant and the Gator ride” Abaigeal O’Connor
“The best part of today was talking to all of the very diverse people and their careers, about how they got in that position
and the skills needed” Corri Slagle
“The best part of today was the Thomas Livestock hog barn” Justin Kemp
“Design homes was interesting because we went over what it took to make a house”
Gavin Kemp
“I enjoyed touring Adams Land and Cattle” Karson Kirwan
“Today was a great experience. We got to see that the agricultural jobs are more than just farmers and ranchers. My
favorite part was talking to the AMS consultant named Chad at John Deere.” Carly Kozeal
“The best part was seeing the Adams Land and Cattle and touring the hog barn” Colten Brown
“The best part of the day was talking about the machinery at Plains Equipment” Joe Kruml
“My favorite part about today was getting to see how they sorted cattle at Adams” Alex Horky

Jumping rope is fun,
When it’s all done
You soak up in the sum
Doing P.E. is Fun.
P.E. is fun
Except when it’s done

Around the track we run.
Doing P.E. drills,
Catching is cool,
Except when you’re a fool.
Running is a rule,
Except when you drool.
P.E. is chilly
Except when you’re silly.
