     Balavikas class : - Group 2This is the explanation to the students of Group 2 students for the

    “ Omkaram bindu samyuktham” Slokam. You read the Basic meaning

    in last month's magazine. This in continuation to that for senior students.

    Explanation of Aum

    A,U,M connote the trinity, Brahma, Vishnu and

    Maheswara signifying creation, sustenance and the

    dissolution.

    “Aum” is the primordial sound and is basis or seed

    of all the manthras. When we pronounce “OM” it should

    appear as if a plane is coming from a distance drawing closer and closer

    to us and eventually flying away from us. “Akara” sound should begin

    in a low tone, gradually rise in to crescendo (climax) in the course of 

    “Ukara” and then slowly soften when “Makara” is uttered. The course

    is like a wave, starting from the base rising to a peak and descending to

    the base.(“A” emerges from throat, “U” from the tongue and “M” fromlips)

    Signifying 5 Jnanendriyas (Vakku, Pani, padam,Payu, Upastha) +

    5Karmendrias (Nose,Tongue,Eyes,Ears,Skin) + 5 Pranas

    (Prana,Apana,Vyana,Udana,Samana) +5 kosas (Annamaya,

    Pranamaya,Manomaya,Vijnanamaya,Anandamaya kosas)+Mind

    together 21, we chant AUM 21 times at a time followed by “Santhi”

    three times representing Adhibhouthika, Adhyathmika and Adhidaivika

    santhis.

    The third line in the sloka says “kamadam mokshadam Chaiva” It

    means chanting of Aum regularly, keeping good faith in it, our desires

    are fulfilled and at the end we will attain salvation. That means we will

    be blessed with physical, mental and spiritual benefits.

    Physical benefits: Our breath becomes pure and balanced. Heart andLungs get stronger and healthier.

    Psychological benefit: Mind will be free from agitations and we get

    mental peace.

    Spiritual benefits: Chanting of Aum takes us

    to God and enables us to be one with Him .

    Therefore Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba

    says “Aum” is the telephone number of 

    God.

    Significance of dot (bindu) in “OM”;

    Bindu - Jeevatma, Om - Paramatma. We are

    bindus (drops) of that OM from which we

    have come.

    The seer of Sai Gayathri was Ghandikota Subhrahmanya Sasthri and he chanted the mantra for the first time on 24th December 1977  inBangalore in the presence of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

    Sidhdhir bhavathu me sada

    Meaning :Oh! Mother Goddess Saraswathi! My humble pranams to you. You

    are the one who fulfills all our desires. I am commencing my studies

    and I request you to bless me with success always.

    Explanation

    Saraswathi  is the Goddess of learning, knowledge, and wisdom

    and She is often depicted as a beautiful goddess, dressed in pure white,

    often seated on a swan (vehicle) or on a white lotus because white isthe symbol of purity of true knowledge which she bestows on the

    seeker

    Bhajan:

    Jai Durga Laxmi Saraswathi

    Sai jagnamatha Sai jaganmatha,

    mam pahi jaganmatha

    Jai Durga Laxmi Saraswathi

    Meaning : Victory to mother Durga, Laxmi, Saraswathi and Sai matha,

    the mother of the universe. Oh! mother please protect us.

    Temples of Goddess Saraswathi:The main temple of Goddess Saraswathi is in Kashmir, among the

    Himalayas, the snow clad (White) mountains. In Andhra Pradesh

    (1) the temple of Gnana Saraswathi is in Basara

    and (2) Vidya Sarawathi is in Wargal of Medak

    District

    Goddess Saraswathi is also called as

    Bharati, Sarada, Vani, Vagiswari, Vara dayini,Bhuvaneswari.

    Saraswathi Puja:

    In South India during Navratri (Dusserah)

    festival, Goddess Saraswathi is worshipped by

    keeping books and all musical instruments near the goddess early at

    dawn and worshipped with special prayers for her blessings so that we

    may attain knowledge, intelligence and success. It is the true wealth

    that Goddess Saraswathi bestows on us.

    It is celebrated as Vasantha Panchami on the 5th day of the bright

    fortnight of the lunar month of Magha masam in the eastern parts of

    India like Odisha, West Bengal, and Bihar.

    Game / drawing:Let the Children sit in a circle. Write down their names on small

    papers roll them, ask one of the child to pick up one slip from the lot

    .The selected child has to say different names of Goddess Saraswathi

    and locations of Her temples. If the child misses even one point the

    boy or the girl is out. Otherwise the child continues to play. Slips are

    drawn each time when the game starts again and again till a single

    child remains as winner of the game.

    Drawing; A child can draw a book, veena, or japamala and paint it.
