IMPORTANT NOTICEDue to a change in ownership we have lost Walliswood as one of our

sites. It was due to be on Monday 27th May as our normal June dateclashed with too many other events. Efforts are being made toorganize another site and this Newsletter has been delayed for a weekto see if we have been able to do this, otherwise the June date isunfortunately cancelled

APRIL TRIAL at Rome Woods will once again be run as a one routeevent. Mike has said he will advertise this to try to increase the entryso we can make a donation to RFH. If it all works out scores shouldrange from 0 to 100!

AGM - 17th April at Six Bells Newdigate 8 pm start. We would like tosee as many members as possible attending, it’s your opinions of ourcurrent programme that will be an important contribution and anysuggestions as to how it can be improved.

INJURY TIME Ed C knocked himself out when the bike flipped overand he landed on the back of his head, he had a hat on. As he was abit lost when he came round and got on the wrong bike they sent himto hospital presumably for a brain scan. Someone at the last trialsuggested they couldn’t find one!And Clint has had to have his busted collarbone plated …. When hecame round after the op he was asked what was his pain on a scaleof 1 to 10? He said 9 as he didn’t like to say 10!

Committee Meeting 13/02/13 – a brief summary courtesy ofour Chairman

Minutes of last meetingRead and agreedMatters ArisingRod Mouland and Ian will liaise ref the possibility of a joint trial withHorsham Club on their ground. Dick pointed out the difficulty ofrunning it under ACU regs. Ian will discuss with Rod.

Dick will talk to Mike Rivett ref the boundaries at Wallis Wood and howthis may affect future trials held there.

Mike will talk to Clint ref the running of the one route trial in April. Thisbeing needed as Clint has injured his shoulder and we are not sure ifhe will be able to mark the trial out. Mike will also advertise the trial.

A working party is scheduled for the 9th of March at Rome Woods.Unfortunately Tim and Fiona will be away but will let Dick know whatthey would like done.

Any Other BusinessTrials entries have declined over the last couple of years. It was feltthat future club trials should be advertised. Fiona will organise thisfrom May onwards.Mike will inform other clubs of our new web address.A reverse trail will be held again in August.Next Meeting - The AGM will be held on April the 17th.

NORTHLANDS MARCH CLUB TRIALSince we had been unable to work with a tractor in the woods for afew weeks concern about the wet going was expressed but as it hadbeen drying out for 3 weeks it turned out OK and sections got easierexcept for whites.

Arriving on Saturday I was met with a lineup of rather classy vehiclesso I parked out of the way in shame. The Enfield team, Sean P, DanB, Martin T and Rob E bolstered by Chris H, who had the kit, they didan excellent job with ½ ways scores in the 30’s but whites rose to 59

with some big losses at the bottom of the list. Entry was good at 47.

Parking was a problem, a reluctance to enter the middle bit fearfulthey would get stuck, John P and Adrian found themselves spinningon the back track and Gary S put his 4WD into position to block thelong track, it didn’t stop the Davidson lads going down to get wellstuck, they didn’t ride – said it was too cold in the winter. There werea high number of non-members, some never seen before, who saidland was in very short supply, say that again, Mick R says Walliswoodno more! Bob C arrived with more bits for the clothing cupboard – it’sgetting so full we may have to auction the contents at the CampingWeekend. Adrian had lashed out and got a new (to him) 125 for Adamwho took a time getting used to it but he’ll be in front soon – he’skeen!

Reports from the action came quick when Mick Huskinson was backafter 1 section having bent a new £30 rear brake pedal, it got easilystraightened – it was as soft at mild steel. Next Mike Hammondretired as he’s not in the mood today. Tony F and Stuart E got offearly thinking they’d have it easier, maybe they did as both were wellplaced. Rob E said on the Y route he couldn’t get up the hills, it turnedout the bike wasn’t Ok and a lot of oil indicated a crankcase leak.

Ray M as another DNS due to bike problems, similarly Nick Greendidn’t bother to start. Good news though from Mick D complementingthe team for setting out “Innovative” sections, they cost him 15 marksbut he should have had a bonus for this unique description.

At the end a lad comes into the caravan, lays his cards on the floor,took out a phone and photographs them – “I want to show my Dad Ibeat him” he says. Paul B reckons he was very stiff and needed a bitmore practice, I even heard reports that he just took a 5 occasionally.Does the Blue route beckon, it happens to us all! Sorry I didn’t getout to be a menace putting riders off, so report is short but I shouldmention that that all the DNF’s on the Yellow route were not due tothe course. Some non-members, particularly those on older bikes,had no intention of scoring and had come for a ride. In consequencethe ½ way score on this route applies only to the finishers.

On the results Sean 19 and Dan 12 won their classes W & B whichthey set out obviously to match their abilities! On W Tony F 24 andSteve F 36 and then scores inflated astonishingly to end with JohnPenfold on 139! What happened to him? Yellows were much more

progressive – Adrian H and Bob C level on 9 in top spot, Gary S only1 behind and Mick D innovated 5 more marks. Jack T was the onlyred finisher – so he won!

Thanks then to the Enfield Team for providing us with well sortedsections, that had not a single moan – you can’t beat that and as youcan see some riders were very impressed (they had low scores!)

There is the Southof England Classic bike show on 10th March start at 10am nice to lookround all the bikes and get a hotdog too, on Easter Monday it is theAshford classic bike show, I’ve not been to that one. On March 23rdit is the start of the Speedway season at Eastbourne Arlingtonraceway, the eagles meet Belle view Aces starts Saturday 7.30 It isan easy run down the A23 and along the A27 . If you like SpeedwayThe British round is on 1st June at Cardiff stadium A fantasticatmosphere and all the top Speedway stars, a great night out. If youare interested book now as tickets will be selling fast. April 5th 6th7th BSB at Brands Hatch, Shakey Byrne Defending his title. This isthe top British racing great day out.
