Beneficial OwnersDuring the last 12 months, the number of activeBO accounts with CDSL has increased from55.20 lakh as on February 28, 2009 to 65.27 lakhas on February 28, 2010, which indicates growthof 18.24%.
As on February 28, 2010, CDSL has 497 DPsoffering DP services from over 6000 locationsacross the country. These DPs comprise of CMs,Banks, NBFCs, Custodians, Clearing Houses/Corporations and Regional Stock Exchanges.

CDSL TO SETUP DEPOSITORY AND CLEARINGSYSTEM IN NEPALCentral Depository Services (India) Ltd. (CDSL) hassigned an agreement with the Nepal Stock ExchangeLimited (NEPSE) on January 15, 2010 to set-up adepository and clearing and settlement system inNepal. The agreement was signed in the augustpresence of Shri S.M.Krishna, Honorable Minister ofExternal Affairs, Government of India and Smt SujataKoirala, Deputy Prime Minister and Honorable Ministerof Foreign Affairs, Government of Nepal.
NEPSE is the only stock exchange in Nepal whichis recognized by the Securities and Exchange Boardof Nepal and has commenced its operations since13th January 1994.As per the terms of the agreement, CDSL shall provideto NEPSE technical assistance in finalizing draft laws,bye laws, operating instructions, preparing businessrequirement specifications, evaluation and selection ofvendors for hardware, networking, etc., carrying outUser Acceptance Testing (UAT) and training. The projectis being part financed by the Government of India.
CLARIFICATION ON IN-PERSON VERIFICATION
SEBI vide its Circular no. SEBI/MIRSD/Cir-02/2010 datedJanuary 18, 2010 has clarified that "In-Person Verification“(IPV) done for opening Beneficial Owner's (BO) accountby a Depository Participant (DP) will hold good foropening trading account by a stock broker and vice-versa,if the stock broker and DP is the same entity or any oneof them is holding or subsidiary company of the other.
In case the IPV is carried out by the stockbrokerwho is either holding or subsidiary company of theDP, a declaration on the letterhead of the stockbrokerentity duly stamped and signed by its staff doing IPVshould be kept on record by the DP, along with theBO's account opening form and other KYCdocuments.
UPDATION OF DIVIDEND BANK DETAILS IN EARLYPAY-IN ACCOUNTS
On the record date, Clearing Members (CMs) receivedividend credits for securities lying in the CM's EarlyPay-in account. Physical dividend warrants / chequesare issued by companies in case the Dividend BankDetails (DBD) are not updated in the CM's Early Pay-in account. In such case, no dividend credits are givento the CM through ECS directly to their bank accounts.
In order to resolve this issue, CDSL is updating DBD inthe CM's Early pay-in account from the details available/given by the said CM in other accounts namely, CMPrincipal / Pool / CISA account as a one time measure.W.e.f. January 15, 2010 for any further modifications inbank details of CM account, the CM is required to submitduly filled and signed Account Modification Form (AMF)to his Depository Participant (DP). On receipt of the AMF,the DP shall update DBD in the respective CM accountsexcept for Early Pay-in account.
For effecting change of the DBD in CM's Early Pay-inaccount, the DP is required to send a copy of AMFreceived from CM alongwith a covering letter (inprescribed format) on DP's letterhead to CDSL.The details are then updated in CM's Early Pay-inaccount by CDSL, subject to verification.
MANDATORY ENTRY OF DATE OF BIRTH [DOB]FOR INDIVIDUALS / NRI / FOREIGN NATIONALSAccount Opening Form prescribed by CDSL, has theprovision to capture the "Date of Birth" [DOB] of theaccount holder(s). But entry of the same in CDSLsystem is not mandatory except for Minor accounts.DPs are advised to note that the "Date of Birth" [DOB]for the sole/first holder in demat accounts should beupdated from the PAN card, as submitted by the entity.In the case of "minor", the DOB should be obtainedfrom the Birth Certificate, as specified in CDSL's DPoperating instructions. The above mentionedrequirement would be made mandatory in nearfuture.

CDSL’s internet facility ‘easiest’ enables a BeneficialOwner (BO) or Clearing Member (CM) to submittransactions on the Internet “anytime-anywhere” inan efficient and convenient manner, all in a state-of-the-art secure environment. A CM also obtains regularreports from CDSL through easiest which enable himto monitor his settlements closely.CDSL is pleased to introduce the Virtual DP utility ineasiest wherein settlement-related transactions of thoseBOs/clients who have given Power of Attorney [POA] toCMs, can be uploaded through the CM’s easiest login.A Q&A of this new facility is given below:Q. 1. What are the pre-requisites for a CM to uploadtransactions through easiest for POA accounts?Ans.: Following are the pre-requisites:� CM should be registered for easiest under Account
of Choice category i.e CM should have an e-tokenreceived from CDSL.
� POA given by BO in favour of CM should beregistered with the DP.
� BO should compulsorily be registered for CDSL’sSMS alert facility (SMART).
� A link should be established between the CM’sMaster POA ID and the BOID in CDSL system aswell as in easiest. The DP should authenticate thesame so that the link is activated.
Q. 2. What is the procedure for setting up POA-BOID link in easiest?Ans.: CM has an option to set up the POA-BOID linkeither online or by uploading a file in easiest using hise-token. In On-line set up, the CM needs to updatePOA ID, BOID, and mobile number of the BO in theformat available in the CM’s easiest login under thelink “CM POA”. To set up POA-BOID link by usingupload option, a file in the format prescribed by CDSLshould be uploaded by the CM in easiest.Q. 3. What are the details required to be updatedby CM while preparing upload file for settingup POA-BOID link?
KNOWLEDGE CENTREUPLOAD THROUGH EASIEST FOR CMs USING POWER OF ATTORNEY (POA)
Ans.: The CM needs to update CMID, Exchange ID,POA ID, BOID, and Mobile no. in the file to be preparedfor setting up POA-BOID link. The said file should beconverted to UNIX before it is uploaded through CM’seasiest login.Q.4. Does DP need to play any role in thisprocess?Ans.: The DP is required to authenticate the POA-BOID links created by the CM. Once the authenticationis done, the said POA-BOID link will be activated in theCDSL system at 9:00 a.m. on the next business day.Q. 5. When can a CM upload settlement relatedtransactions through easiest using POA uploadfacility?Ans.: Once the POA-BOID links are activated in CDSLsystem and easiest, the CM can upload settlementrelated transactions on behalf of the registered BOs.Q. 6. What are the different types of transactionsthat can be uploaded by CM using this facility?Ans.: A CM can upload settlement related transactionssuch as:a) Normal pay-in, b) Early pay-in, c) Transfer ofsecurities from client account to CM account & vice-versa. d) BO level Pay in (wherein the securities canbe transferred directly from the client’s a/c to the CH/CC or the CMs Settlement account for pay-in.)Q. 7. Does the CM / his client need to submit aphysical DIS to his DP?Ans.: No. Once registered for Virtual DP, a CM or hisclient need not submit any DIS to the DP.Q.8. Is BO required to maintain his demat accountwith the same broker where he is maintaininghis broking account to avail this facility?Ans.: A BO may maintain his demat account withthe same broker DP or any other DP of his choiceregistered with CDSL.Q.9. Should the CMs have their clients accountswith CDSL?Ans.: Yes, in order to avail of Virtual DP facility theclient accounts of the CMs must be with CDSL.
TERMINATION OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN CDSL ANDAMI SHARE AND STOCK BROKERS PRIVATE LIMITED
DPs and BOs are advised to note that the agreementbetween CDSL and AMI Share Stock Brokers PrivateLimited [DP ID 12054700] a DP of CDSL, standsterminated w.e.f. December 30, 2009.
BOs are advised to take necessary steps to transfertheir securities to another account with a DP of theirchoice or rematerialize the holdings in their existingdemat account/s.
