Alumnae Return with the Next GenerationFebruary brought with it heart candies, hopes for spring

and happy homecomings, as alumnae attended the Alumnae and Children’s Events sponsored by the Alumnae Association.

February 8, 2009 was the annual Alumnae Tea Party Social. Attendees, both young and young at heart, enjoyed catching-up with friends, dressing-up in frilly costumes and filling-up on tea and delicious desserts. To view pictures from the Alumnae Tea Party Social, click here.

More alumnae and their favorite youngsters returned to campus on February 28, 2009 as the halls of IWA were filled with The Sound of Music. Before the final performance of the spring musical, guests attended the Bavarian Bonanza party. Festivities at the event included: creating “My Favorite Things” coloring books, feasting on root beer floats and soft pretzels, and learning songs from the show. The Dance Team Sets a New School RecordIncarnate Word Academy’s Varsity Dance Team, better known as “The Knightline” received 2nd place overall at the Missouri Dance Team Championships. The competition was held at the Chaifetz Arena on February 28, 2009. Captains Mary Georgen ’09 and Erin Jackson ’09 lead the team to 1st place in the 4A Pom Division and 3rd place in the 4A Dance Division, earning IWA 2nd place overall. This is the best that any IWA squad has ever done. Congratulations to the dancers and coaches!

IWA Faculty and Staff Help Feed the Community

The IWA faculty and staff proved that they not only teach the mission of Incarnate Word Academy – they live it. On February 28, 2009, 14 members of the IWA faculty and staff spent their Saturday morning volunteering at the St. Louis Area Foodbank. Working with other organizations, the IWA group was able to process 552 cases of food totaling 18,156 pounds. “We helped to provide 14,821 meals for the hungry,” reported Campus Minister Geri Pitti.

Know an Amazing Alumna?Each year the IWA Alumnae Association recognizes an outstanding alumna at the Baccalaureate Mass and reception. Alumna of the Year recipients must exemplify the traditions and beliefs of Incarnate Word Academy. They must also display strong dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to Incarnate Word Academy. Save the Date! The annual Incarnate Word Academy Golf Tournament is May 8, 2009. The tournament is sponsored by the Athletic Booster Club and hosted at Normandie Golf Course.
