I had to laugh when I heard the story of two men who one day approached the legendary Britishpreacher, C. H. Spurgeon, and told him, “Spurgeon, we have reached sinless perfection.”
“Really? he asked.
“Yes,” they said, “We’re absolutely perfect.”
Spurgeon was holding a pitcher of water at the time, and he proceeded to pour it on their heads.
When they began to react like any other sinners would, he found out just how perfect they were.
You see, the people who walk around claiming to have reached sinless perfection are victims ofone of the most powerful yet subtle sins – pride. None of us will reach sinless perfection in thislife. In all of human history, Christ alone has been sinless.
“ If we say that we have no sin we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” I John 1:8
Granted, something dramatic happened when we received Christ. Before we were Christians,we were under the control and power of sin. We went along with whatever our sinful natures
dictated. But in Christ we were changed. The Bible says we became new creations in Christ; oldthings passed away and everything became new (IICorinthians 5:17).
But that isn’t to say we still don’t struggle with sin or that we’ll have no lapses. When we fall, wecan go at once to Christ for cleansing, according to His promises in 1John 1:9.
However, if we’re sinning habitually and persistently and without sincere confession, something’s terribly wrong.
Because Jesus Christ is our righteousness…step forward confidently in the freedom from sinthat Jesus Christ has won for you. “Go and sin no more” (John 8:11)
Have a great week. I hope to see each of you this Sunday.
Brad Seevers, Eph.3:20-21
The Lord ’ s promise to His people … If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9

Food to Haiti, Part 1
Easter Special Offering: Lifeline Christian MissionGoal : One pallet of food for Haiti, $2000
We have an exciting opportunity ahead of us with our
Easter Special Offering. We are teaming up with LifelineChristian Mission to send two pallets of food to Haiti tohelp with their aid to that country. Each pallet costs$2000. The first pallet in this effort is going to besponsored by the missions committee. The committee isthen challenging the congregation to match this withfunding a second pallet which will cost $2000.
This is an organization that we have been supportingmonthly through the missions committee for years. Ontop of this, it is exciting to do a special project for anorganization that has had a presence in Haiti for longbefore the recent earthquake. We know that this issomething that will bless Fifth Avenue as much as thosein Haiti. Luckily there is a second step to this effort afterraising the money. Read here next week for details.
