Dear Advisor,I have a problem. I was logged into my Facebook account when I bought a beautiful ring for my wife. Facebook posted that I bought a ring in my newsfeed. I feel as though I should be able to purchase things without Facebook announcing it to the public. I have a right to privacy, don’t I? Why can they post all the things I buy online? Should I sue?

Thanks,Sean L. What would your advice be to Sean L.?

Page 45: March 14, 2013

Dear Sean L.,It is wrong that Facebook posted your purchase online for all to see. Can you imagine if you bought something else much more personal? It is wrong for them to announce anything you don’t post yourself. You should sue them! You have a right to privacy. They did not have your permission to post it. They should not have done it.

Good luck!Jessica Do you agree with Jessica?

Page 46: March 14, 2013

Dear Sean L.,When you sign up for Facebook, you agree to their rules. They let you know that they track your purchases if you are logged in. You should have logged out. It is your own fault. If you don’t want your purchases published for all to see, you shouldn’t be a Facebook member. You have no right to sue. If Facebook tells you they will do it, then it is legal.

Sorry to tell you the bad news.Mark

Dear Advisor,I love to take pictures of myself and those around me. A few weeks ago, I took a picture of myself with friends. I posted it up on Flickr. Later, someone found the photo and used it in an advertisement without my permission. What right do they have to use my picture without my permission? I very upset. What should I do? I am reluctant to sue because I uploaded the picture onto Flickr. However, I feel the advertisement company should have never used my picture without asking me first.

Any advice would be wonderful!Alison C.
