COMMUNITY MINISTRIES NEWS(Pictured below) This fine-looking Oak Hill UMC crew volunteered recently at a Central Texas Food Bank food distribution event in the Dove Springs neighborhood. “We served 264 families, providing food to an estimated 800 people—all outdoors under a beautiful Texas sky. Great morning,”said Vicki Matustik, director of connections and service at Oak Hill UMC.

We Are Blood Needs Your DonationsFour times a year We Are Blood brings their brightly colored mobile unit to our campus on Sunday mornings. This past Sunday we had 13 members sign up to donate! As the exclusive community blood supplier, We Are Blood now serves over 40 hospitals and medical facilities in a 10-county area.

We Are Blood is urgently calling on blood and platelet donors to donate in order to safeguard the blood supply for Central Texas pa-tients. Multiple businesses canceled their mobile blood drives after implementing new work-from-home or building access policies due to concern about the coronavirus. A simultaneous downturn in appointments, likely due to cold and flu season, has left We Are Blood deeply concerned about blood and platelet donations in the coming weeks.

The next OHUMC blood drive is scheduled for June 14. Look for reminders in the Cornerstone closer to that date or consider going to one of their centers and donate sooner. Blood and platelet donation is safe and critical at this time. If you have any questions you can contact Jennifer Freel at [email protected].
