This month’s Prayer Word: Mercy Lord, may we share with others the same mercy
you extend to us.
Announcements Sunday, March 1, 2020
As we gather, greet those friends and guests around you. Please be sure to sign the attendance register. A register is located in each pew. If you are a new visitor, we would enjoy knowing a little about you, so please stop by the Welcome Table in the Lobby for more info on our church. Please join us for Vespers, a casual communion service, which is held in the Sanctuary. It lasts about 50 minutes. This Wednesday, March 4th, at 6 p.m., Zhenya Knoche will be our speaker. All are welcome! We will be enjoying an evening Soup Supper at 5pm before Vespers during Lent!
Mark your calendars for March 27 & 28 and plan to attend the annual SVUMW Rummage Sale. Help is desperately needed both for set up (March23-26) and for the actual sale. You can bring your small items to Fellowship Hall Wednesday mornings before 10am but please wait until the week of set-up to bring larger items. This is a good time to clean out the kitchen cabinets and then donating
small appliances and cookware you no longer use. Hope to see you at our sale. Please consider purchasing flowers for our Sunday Worship. A single arrangement is $15. The sign-in sheet is in the lobby. We thank you for support in keeping our Sanctuary beautiful!
Lenten Soup Suppers are happening now through the Lenten Season! The suppers are Wednesday evenings at 5pm in the Fellowship Hall. Please contact Felida Ashley or Sheila King for more information or to bring soup to share! We will be offering a Lent Bible Study for those who are interested on Tuesdays at noon and Fridays at 6 pm. The studies will be starting this Tuesday February 25th and Friday February 28th and will continue through Holy Week. Please contact Kayla to sign up to be in one of the classes. Tuesday Bible Study Group will be resume on Feb 18 – May 10, 2020. It will be every Tuesday for ten classes. Child care will be provided. We will start a new study from Leviticus. Time: 9:45 – 11:30, Room #5 in Fellowship Hall. Please contact Ae Sun Robles (520) 678-0316. Please pray for General Conference, which meets May 5-15 in Minneapolis. Rev. Dan Hurlburt and Mr. Paul Gomez will serve as our
clergy and lay delegates from the Desert Southwest Annual Conference, with Rev. Anthony Tang and Ms. Julie O'Neill going as alternates. More information about General Conference can be found at www.umc.org and www.dscumc.org
Administrative Council is in need of a Secretary! Prior experience in taking minutes is beneficial but not a requirement. If you are interested in filling this vital role, please contact Annie Coppola at 520-678-5647. The Administrative Council meets on an average of 8 times a year.
The Communications Committee is in need of co-chairs. This position plays a vital role in keeping the public, including newspapers, informed of all the wonderful things that are happening at our church. If you are interested in serving in this capacity, please contact Annie Coppola at 520-678-5647.
Hearing receivers and large print hymnals are available
from the ushers.

Holy Fountain of Forgiveness, the tale of Jonah reminds us of your never-ending love for all creation. May we be like the people of Nineveh, who were able to acknowledge their sin and open their eyes to your healing presence. Though you stand ready to forgive our sin, we find it easier to bite our tongues, clench our fists, and cling to our hurts and resentments rather than let you open our hearts. We trust you, Holy One; we pour out our hearts to you. Receive the pain that lurks in our humanity, as we offer up what we have hidden from ourselves and from the world— those words and deeds that keep us separated from your love. Amen.
