With support for 31 SDI video standards, the video delay apps include the same features found in our IP gateway and translator apps, including signal and flow monitoring, network address translation, unicast and multicast transmission and address conversion, traffic shaping, protocol conversion and features to ensure network security.
All three apps include a framestore synchroniser and support PTP in addition to analogue references as a timing source, with user configurable options for timing source priority and redundancy. They synchronise both outputs to the same reference, with the synchronised output timing able to be offset with respect to the reference in ms, us or ns. 16 presets can be used to set and recall different delay values. The apps use the VR06 rear module and provide one video output per input.
The VIVID1-IPSDI-8G, VIVID2-IPSDI and VIVID2-IPSDI-8G will be available for demonstration at IBC and shipping shortly after.

More software apps for MARBLE-V1 will be coming very soon. We will be showing our video delay and colour corrector apps at IBC, with their release due shortly after the show – and you can read more about them in this newsletter. MARBLE-V1 isn’t just an IP platform. Our picture processing software apps can work with IP. Or they can work with SDI. Or they can work with both IP and SDI at the same time! Each input and each output can be individually selected between SDI and IP. ST 2110 video will also be released at IBC, with ST 2110 audio to follow later.
We are currently working on a number of customer projects for which we are developing custom apps – something that is easy to do using MARBLE-V1. These are broadcasters who are looking for particular functionality that only something like MARBLE can fulfil. So please get in touch with us and tell us about any IP or SDI custom functionality you need. We can create a product for you that can work in SDI now and can work in IP when you need it to – without changing anything.
A card housed in the Vision frame, MARBLE-V1 features a powerful CPU/GPU processor, six bi-directional SDI connections, four 10GbE SFP+ network interface ports and eight bi-directional discrete AES stereo channels. MARBLE-V1’s functionality comes from the installation of a software app, with apps that are bought with the hardware able to be replaced with different apps as needs change.
The three software apps released on 21st August are the SDI6-IP-2022, IP-SDI6-2022 and IP-IP-2022. The SDI6-IP-2022 and IP-SDI6-2022
are IP gateways for the transport of uncompressed video over 10GbE IP networks, converting to and from SMPTE ST 2022. In addition to being six channel, they include support for 31 SDI video standards, redundant streaming, clean switching between flows, sophisticated synchronising, PTP reference, video delay, unicast and multicast transmission, signal and flow monitoring, traffic shaping and features to ensure network security. THE MARBLE-V1 media processor and its first three software apps began shipping in August.
NEW from Crystal Vision are three video delay software apps – the single channel VIVID1-IPSDI-8G and the dual channel VIVID2-IPSDI and VIVID2-IPSDI-8G. Designed to run on the MARBLE-V1 media processor hardware, the apps are ideal for matching any 3Gb/s, HD or SD system delays, such as those caused by virtual studio graphics, MPEG encoders and decoders, audio processing, HD radio links and satellite links.
All three apps can work with IP, with SDI or with both IP and SDI at the same time. This makes them equally suitable for IP environments, for SDI installations that will soon change to IP, and for mixed SDI and IP installations where the video delays can connect to both the SDI section and the IP section in any combination of SDI and IP inputs and outputs. The video delays include both IP to SDI and SDI to IP gateway functionality. The apps work with both SMPTE ST 2022 and ST 2110 video. Not only are these are the industry’s first video delays to offer IP connectivity, they also introduce an SDI video delay to the Vision frame system for the first time – with the easiest possible upgrade path.
There’s a choice of delay lengths to sort all requirements and budgets. VIVID1-IPSDI-8G provides up to 800 frames of video delay (16 seconds in 3Gb/s and 32 seconds in HD and SD). VIVID2-IPSDI provides up to 200 frames of video delay per channel (four seconds in 3Gb/s and eight seconds in HD and SD). Finally VIVID2-IPSDI-8G offers up to 400 frames of video

WE are delighted to introduce two new colour corrector software apps – the single channel COCO1-IPSDI and the dual channel COCO2-IPSDI – which run on our MARBLE-V1 media processor and are ideal for manipulating colours to correct for camera or lighting problems or to standardise pictures shot at different times.
The colour corrector apps can work with IP, with SDI or with both IP and SDI at the same time – giving the easiest possible SDI to IP upgrade as well as being perfect for mixed SDI and IP installations in addition to exclusively IP environments. The colour correctors include both IP to SDI and SDI to IP gateway functionality and work with both SMPTE ST 2022 and ST 2110 video. In addition to being the broadcast industry’s first IP colour correctors, they give the Vision frame system an SDI colour corrector for the first time.
The apps offer an extensive range of colour correction tools including RGB gain, RGB lift, YUV gain, YUV lift, Video gain, Chroma gain, Chroma hue and both overall and individual RGB Gamma adjustment.
The apps also include an excellent legaliser, with both RGB and YC clipping available to create a legal and natural-looking picture. The RGB clip can be set to hard, medium, soft or desaturation mode, therefore featuring the most usability options we’ve ever offered on a legaliser.
The colour corrector apps also include the same features found in our IP gateway and translator apps, including signal and flow monitoring, network address translation, unicast and multicast transmission and address conversion, traffic shaping, protocol conversion and features to ensure network security.
Other features making life easier include the ability to wipe horizontally or vertically between the processed and unprocessed signal for a ‘before’ and ‘after’ comparison. Highlighting pixels containing illegal signal values, meanwhile, makes it easier to locate the problem. 16 time-saving presets can be used to store the precise adjustments for future use – ideal for those who need to continually correct a feed from the same camera. The apps use the VR06 rear module and provide one video output per input.

THE user manual is now available for our Cleanit video and audio profanity delay system, which was launched earlier this year.
Cleanit allows a live content stream to be delayed by up to 20 seconds in HD (ten seconds in 3Gb/s or 110 seconds in SD), giving the operator time to react and prevent the broadcast of unwanted or offensive video or audio material. The three standard versions of Cleanit take care of the most common applications (muting or shuffling either embedded or discrete AES or analogue audio, plus video freeze or black), while Cleanit Custom can be configured to have any functionality you need.
Published in July, the 38 page user manual walks you through the controls on both VisionWeb’s web browser GUIs and the SBB-4 smart button box and shows how easy it is to operate Cleanit – an observation which has been made by all the users of the product so far. Hire has quickly become a popular way for people to use Cleanit, particularly for eGaming competitions and other one-off events – including the Fortnite World Championships in New York and the Twitch Prime Crown Cup in London. Our hire pricing is typically 6% of list price per week, with a minimum period of one week and a minimum charge of £200.
