Jesus said, "Are not twosparrows sold for a coPPercoin? And not one of themfalls to the ground apart fromyour Father's will. But thevery hairs of your head areaI I numbered. Do not feartherefore; you are of mgrevalue than many sparrows. "Matth:w 10 : 29-3L

Moving to a new pIace, living in a new circumstance, beginning a new job, sayinggood.bye to familiarsurround.ings , the se and manyother s i tuat i ons can befrightening. We don'tnormally think of grown men asbeing frightened., but recentlyI had a conversation with ayoung sailor with a family whowas fr i ght ened about theprospect of moving to SanDiego. He was afraid of thecost of living in San Diego. How would he make it? HowcouId. he get the moneyrequired to get housing? Howcould he afford the carinsurance, the cost oftransportat i on, gasol ine, food , elothing, and some ofthe other reguirements for anormal ] ife-style?

Maybe you are frightenedabout the prospect of I ivingin a new place and you'veheard. al l kinds of horrorstories about San Diego andyou're worried.

Linus of ,"leanuts" fame onetime lost his favoriteblanket. He was so distraughtthat he went to h i s fr i endCharlie Brown !o put an add inthe newspaper.

"Write this: 1ost, cne blueblanket: important | " CharlieBrown asked him when he wasd.one writing, "Is there anythinge l se you want me to ad.d ? "Linus says, "Yes, write ownerdesperate ! " Because you and isometimes feel desperate and.fearful for the future, theScriptures can give us somehelpful hints as to how tc beat peace.

Obviously, some fears arehealthy and wholesome. 'ltle

ought to fear fire. We oughrto be afraid. of drowning'. Achi 1d. need.s to grow up be i ngafraid of a busy street, sothat he doesn't run out inlotraffic. There are some fearsthat can instruct us, so thalwe will be careful about thefuture.

But there are ai so somef ears that can st i f I e us'.There are some fears that seemto loom up in front of us thatseem to be impenetrable andbeyond our capab i 1 i ty ofmaster ing . There are somefears that appear to bemountains before us that wecan't climb over, and we'ci liketo throw up our arms and giveup.

So how can you be at peaeeand live without fear?Remember first that you can putalI your worries into threecatecrories: those you cachang- . those you can't change;and those you don't know yetwhether or not you can change.Given enough time, ycu'I1 k:.owwhether or not you can chang:eyour worries.
