Kindred Sisters Magazine & PCCNCF have combined forces to bring you the “Women’s Dinner & a Movie.” Join us the 1st Sunday of each month at 5pm at the Pride Community Center. Relax with the gals, enjoy a nice dinner, & catch a new movie -- all
for just $5 (to cover dinner)!
March 3: “Go Fish” Brash lesbian Camille "Max" West is looking for romance in this hip, film festival favorite. Sick of hearing Max whine about her love life, her roommate sets Max up with the bashful, older -- and frumpy -- Ely. Not surprisingly, their meeting doesn't exactly set
off fireworks. But just as Max begins to believe she's destined to be alone, she discovers that life's best surprises
sometimes come in ordinary packages.
April 7: “Personal Best” Chinatown screenwriter Robert Towne makes his directorial debut with this beautifully shot and edited film that chronicles the relationship of two female world-class athletes. Mariel Hemingway and real-life Olympian pentathlete Patrice Donnelly play runners who train together, compete against each other and eventually become lovers. Scott Glenn plays their coach in this film that culminates with the trials for the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

Women’s Dinner & a Movie First Sunday of each month at 5:00pm!
Join Spectrum and PCCNCF for Trans* Movie Night, the first Friday of each month at 7:00pm. We request
a small donation for refreshments.
March 8th: “Tomboy” Ten year old Laure isn’t like most girls. She prefers football to dolls and sweaters to dresses. When Laure, her parents and little sister Jeanne move to a new neighbourhood, family life remains much the same. That is, until local girl Lisa mistakes Laure to be a boy. Indulging in this exciting new identity, Laure
becomes Michael, and so begins a summer of long sunny afternoons, playground games and first kisses. Yet with the school term fast approaching, and with suspicions arising amongst friends and family, Laure must face up to an uncertain future.
April 12th: “(A)sexual” follows the growth of a community that experiences no sexual attraction. In 2000, David Jay came out to his parents. He was asexual and was fine with it. And he was not alone. Studies show that 1% of the population is asexual. But in a society obsessed with sex, how do you deal with life as an outsider? Combining intimate interviews, vérité footage, and animation with fearless humor and pop culture imagery, David and our four other characters grapple with this universal question, and the outcomes might surprise you.
Facebook: Spectrum/Trans-awareness. [email protected]
Trans Movie Night Second Friday of each month at 7:00pm!
Pride Community Center hosts “Gay Movie Night” on the last Friday of each month at 7:30 p.m. This is a free service to the GLBT community. A $2 donation is requested to cover snack and refreshment costs.
March 29: “The Falls” RJ and Chris are two teenage boys raised in Mormon communities. Though both are poster boys for their church with perfect academic records and pretty girlfriends, buried feelings soon rise to the surface when they are assigned to serve a mission together as part of their rite of passage. Now, they will have to make sense of the conflict between their desires and the rules that govern the only world they know.
April 26: “Is It Just Me?” Laugh-out-loud funny and seductively sweet, “Is It Just Me?” is a gay romantic comedy about one gay boy’s search for Mr. Right. Adorable Blaine can’t seem to meet guys, let alone form a relationship. His beefy go-go boy roommate Cameron who has no shortage of willing partners can’t understand why he doesn’t just pounce and enjoy some one-nighters. Instead, Blaine hides in chat rooms where he meets Zander, a shy, recently relocated Texan. But when the time comes to exchange photos, Blaine accidentally sends an image of his hunky roomie, and things go from romantically promising to downright confusing. Full of witty charm and cute guys, “Is It Just Me?” is a bona fide feel-good winner!

WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP In the January issue of “Our Times” we alerted you of PCCNCF’s new responsibility to pay the property taxes for the center building – that’s about $6,500 a year. You responded with donations ranging from $5 to $250. All together those donations added up to a great start on this year’s tax bill. It was wonderful to see the community’s support for the center. But recently it’s been disappointing and we’re falling behind on our goal for the month. If you’ve already given, thank you and please urge your friends to help. If you haven’t given yet, please show that you support PCCNCF. Just fill out the enclosed donation slip and note that you want your donation, or part of it, to go for the property taxes fund. You’ll receive a letter that shows your tax deductible contribution and our thanks. We don’t pay rent thanks to our generous benefactors but we do need to meet the property taxes bill if we want to stay in this great space.

Prairie
Sunday, April 21st 2:00 - 5:00pm

This gathering will take us along the recently opened trails at the Levy Prairie section of Barr Hammock Preserve, part of the county's conservation program. Please plan for the weather with sunscreen, water, hat and snacks to keep your energy up. The trail has sections of shade and several areas in the sun. We plan on the afternoon start time so as to allow the day to cool as we enjoy our hike. Barr Hammock Preserve was acquired through the Alachua County Forever Program to acquire, improve and manage environmentally sensitive lands to protect water resources, wildlife habitat and natural areas suitable for resource based recreation. Helen will provide binoculars for viewing enjoyment and the natural setting will provide the beauty of the day. Meet in the parking lot 2pm. Directions: 1.
